New thread for an (almost) new year, and almost exactly a year since the start of the original thread!

Thanks Yum - good to see you back! It's a retreat yes, but more clinical than that I think... more doctors in white coats and fewer spa treatments, but still, it is such the reboot I need. I have now also realised that I am basically wheat and dairy free for 2 weeks as well - as am only eating organic fruit and vegetables the whole time I am here. Cripes.

P90X does take a chunk out of your day mama, I did it on maternity leave which isn't helpful to you! Equipment wise, I have 8, 4 and 3kg dumbbells, a pull up bar and a yoga mat, which is all you need for P90 I think (and a chair). If you get into Insanity Max30 then you will need a 1 or 2kg dumbbell as well - my 3kg wasn't light enough for some of Shaun's crazy moves.

If any of you have Netflix you must watch "Making a Murderer" (don't google it first) - it's amazing (documentary).

Boobz · 06/01/2016 13:55

Oh also, I have some digital scales that measure body fat but I never believe them, so was going to invest in this but never got around to it.

www.skulpt.me/

I have a garmin for running which has a HRM but I never use it (the monitor bit, I do use the Garmin for pacing, distance run etc.,)- too much faff for me trying to change my heart rate - DH uses it and berates me for not using it though.

Fullsteamahead · 06/01/2016 15:43

WOW Boobz!!!!!!!!! I'm tired just reading that never mind running like that on 300 calories! You rock!

Yumyum hello! I have to admit I've got a bit of a sugar addiction after Xmas, it's going to take a while to get back on track :(

I did 21DFE Pilates today which was very good, really enjoyed it. Still feel like a Pinoccio boy, can hardly walk. Lol

Fullsteamahead · 06/01/2016 15:49

Just had a look on Netflix Boobz, it looks seriously scary!!! I'm not sure I can cope with it, I had to sleep with the light on after watching Luther! 😂😂😂

Boobz · 06/01/2016 16:27

It's not scary! It's a whodunnit, but in real life.

Loungingbutnotforlong · 06/01/2016 20:02

Hello all, boobz that sounds seriously hard core! A complete physical reboot. I just did day 3 alpha of t25- of my goodness- it was a killer. I can barely hold the plank never mind walk in a plank. I am determined though- followed the modifier Blush most of the time, and hopefully I'll get better fast!

Fullsteamahead · 06/01/2016 23:19

Lounging, I just laughed out loud, would that have been a Total Body Curcuit by any chance???!!! It's a very well known and much loved/hated workout by all of us. If you read back up the thread you'll find plenty of moans about it, so don't despair. In my personal opinion it's the hardest workout out of all T25 series.

Boobz, I'll try and watch it in th next couple of days then 😬😬😬

Boobz · 07/01/2016 08:19

Right - had my cellulite massage and now off to do Pure Cardio and 3m on the treadmill before "lunch".

Loungingbutnotforlong · 07/01/2016 10:12

full steam yes- I think the 'highlight' for me was the walking plank/ spider crawl push up combo! Will I ever be fit enough to do it?! Shock will keep at it. I'll have a look back through this thread for inspiration. Good to know it is recognised as super hard- I was thinking I will never manage beta stage!
Ooh- a cellulite massage- I could just do with a massage right now! Enjoy the run!

Loungingbutnotforlong · 07/01/2016 20:11

Ha! So I've just read back over the old (original jan15) thread. It is hugely encouraging to read your struggles/ pain and effort and to see how mega fit you all are now! Grin I see TBC is a long ago nemesis but then ends up being a bit of a favourite as you all got fitter- interesting- hope that happens for me too.
well done on all your before and after photos! Wow! You all look amazing!

Purpleraindeer · 07/01/2016 21:16

Hi lounging. If the planks are awful you're doing them right. I always found them fine and couldn't work out what the fuss was about. Then I properly looked at the demo move and realised I was doing it all wrong. They were a lot harder when I actually did them right. Total body circuit (tbc) is hardcore. Squat burpees - urgh.

Just finished week 1 of max30. Friday fight today. Feel good (now it's done!). I will admit I was pretty happy when I had to stop it half way to take my toddler to the loo. I also had to modify when both kids were crawling on top of me when I was doing tricep dips! Grin

Day off tomorrow then DH and I have a date at the weekend. Unfortunately this date is for us to do a wild obstacle race (a bit like toughest but not as hardcore - slightly tough?). The plan was that I got some runs done in advance as it is 12km. I've managed 1 4m run since end oct. i saw that if you can't clear an obstacle they give you a burpee penalty. At least after Shaun t I'll nail those!

Hi to everyone else! Am watching that making of a murderer thing on Netflix. Is excellent. Good recommendation

Boobz · 08/01/2016 07:02

Good luck on your obstacle course - I really need to do something like that as preparation for Toughest which I think is going to nail me. I will be able to do the running but have no upper body strength (opposite to you then Purple!) as my new boobs have precluded me from many press ups etc. Glad you are liking making a murderer!

Well done on reading the whole thread Lounging - that's pretty epic! I haven't posted a before after pic for a while, but there's one coming on April 10th!

Have surprised myself that I have kept up my Higdon running schedule whist fasting, so am pleased with that - is rest day today though so am going to do some "3D stretching" and medicine ball training - freebies on the daily schedule here. Then a medical consult with the doc to see how I am doing at 11 before another enema and liver compress at 12. Oh the glamourous life I lead at a German fasting clinic!

If anyone is interested (and so I don't repeat myself) - I have a little daily update report going on in the Fasting section of MN.

Fullsteamahead · 08/01/2016 20:50

Lounging, great workout reading the whole thread! Impressive!!! Well, if you saw my last pics, unfortunately I look nothing like that now. In fact I'm now back to square one, batteries for my scales arrived and I now weigh a staggering 64.5 kg 😬😭😬😭😬😭😬😭 Morale of the story, don't stop exercising!!!

Purple, you are proper hardcore! That obstacle course sounds amazing, really hope the weather is ok for you!

Boobz, is this clinic based in Eastern Germany by any chance? It really sounds like places we have in Russia called sanatoriums where people get proper medical treatments alongside massages, excercise, etc.

Fullsteamahead · 08/01/2016 20:56

Oops, forgot the update. Extreme Cardio fix and 10 min extreme abs done today. The girl was shouting very encouragenly to keep up and that we'll all have six pack by the end of 21 days, I kept looking in the mirror and thinking "No way!!! This is going to take a LOT longer!"😂

Purpleraindeer · 09/01/2016 07:03

Getting back to exercising is the hardest part fullsteam - you've done it before so you know you need to stick at it for a few weeks and you'll see results. Don't be disheartened - people who were fit before always get back in shape quickly and that's you!

Got my kit together for race today. Info pack said gloves were a good idea. I don't have any so I've 'borrowed' my dd's pink gloves with a bow on them - I don't feel these are giving off the right hardcore racer signal... And DH has a massive hangover so all in all an inauspicious start! I'll let you all know how I get on!Smile

Boobz · 09/01/2016 07:25

Good luck Purple - I want photos of your muddy triumphant self!

Boobz · 10/01/2016 08:07

How was it purple - still alive?!

Purpleraindeer · 10/01/2016 09:34

Hellooo!
We survived and it was great!
No photos (yet) but to give you an idea this is what was on the website but taken in the summer so it was a lot wetter and colder for us Smile:
www.ramrun.co.uk/ram-run-gallery.html
But as it was January and there have been floods here large portions of the course involved going through waist deep freezing water and we did a number of swim crossings thru a flooded river which were frankly terrifying as the current was unbelievable. The water was so cold it made you gasp and panic. I've never quite felt like that. The running and obstacles were fine - the big problem for me was the cold - you needed to keep moving to keep warm and and even with that I think I was getting hypothermic by the end.
There were 2 obstacles I couldn't do (but no one else could either - monkey bars and a rope crossing where you swung upside down underneath it) but I nailed the burpee penalty Grin
We're both covered in bruises today.
And amazingly, I was 6th woman home (of 22 so not that impressive) in my category.
Boobz - yours will be v different as it will be warmer. But you need gloves to protect your hands. And trail shoes. It's brilliant fun tho - I'll definitely do another

Boobz · 10/01/2016 14:28

Oh well done Purple! I must saw I am not sure I would have enjoyed that - I am a fair weather exerciser it must be said... all that cold water!

And amazing to come 6th - but I'm not surprised, you are hard core! Thanks for the tips re gloves and trail shoes - noted.

Just did Insanity Pure Cardio and P90X Ab Ripper X. Badly. So wasn't in the mood today - I guess not eating for 5 days isn't going to help with Insanity much.

Purpleraindeer · 10/01/2016 19:56

I'm not surprised you weren't feeling it boobz! The clinic does sound great and I bet in addition to the benefits of the fast Itself it's really restorative for you to get some time to just focus on yourself for a bit. Do you get a sense as to what the typical reason for coming to the clinic is?

One final tip for you for toughest. Do not plan to go bare legged or wear sheer tights for a while afterwards. I'm absolutely covered in bruises! It's horrific.

Jacksterbear · 10/01/2016 20:53

Wow Purple, that sounds, well bloody awful frankly! But well done and great result re 6th place.

Boobz I find Pure Cardio a struggle at the best of times, let alone followed by s second workout, and all while fasting! Shock

PMT-ish today so have eaten loads of crap (sugar/salt/carb cravings ugh). Hmm

Have done quite a mix of exercise in the last few days: T25 beta core cardio, BodyCombat, and PiYo strength intervals.

Loungingbutnotforlong · 11/01/2016 09:06

Wow- purple that sounds incredibly tough- the cold water would finish me off. Well done you! 6th place is amazing.

Alpha t25 week 2 starts today. Cardio today- I should have done the stretching yesterday as my legs are still sore from Saturday's lower body focus. Very pleased though- 3lbs loss this week (need to shift the Christmas gain)
Have a good Monday everyone. Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 11/01/2016 16:34

P90x3 mmx done today hooray, finally got a workout done!!

Well done on your 3lb loss lounging, that's fab.

Purple Hi fives, well done you are awesome Grin love it that you are a burpee machine!

Boobz I am reading your other thread, so interesting, and you are obviously influencing me as I have started drinking more herbal tea.

Hi Jackster and Fullsteam too [waves]

Purpleraindeer · 11/01/2016 21:25

Goodness poppy - mmx?! That's a hard one to start back with!
I'm going to alternate between p90x3 and max30. P90x3 decelerator today. Was an odd mix of normal exercises and ridiculously impossible press up exercises.

Boobz · 12/01/2016 10:15

I did Ab Ripper X yesterday and today and it reminds me how good P90X original was.

I also did a PT session and god my core is hurting now! It was brutal - he also used these roller things where you put them under your shin and roll back and forth, to try and loosen your muscles - the more it hurts the more tense you are - it was excruciating. A bit point to work on for me, especially now I am doing all this running. Speaking of which it was a bit epic churning out a measly 3 miles today so I think the lack of food is really kicking in. I am supposed to do 6 tomorrow... ho hum. The 12 miles on Sat shouldn't be too shocking as I will be on my "re-feeding" phase by then and will have had some solid food at least.

Purple there are loads of reasons for people being here: weight loss, burn out/stress, general relaxation and restoration, detox/rehab, arthritis, rheumatism, skin complaints etc. About 60/40 men to women, mostly German and in their 40s and 50s.
