168.38 sorry forgot to add the total! Smile

AggressiveBunting · 05/07/2015 11:34

Adding 7.3 from yesterday to make 175.7. I tried a new route, went totally wrong, and ended up somewhere I didn't expect after 7k, so then had a go at a slow run up a monster hill and then a few hundred metres of steps up and down. All in all it was a great run.

DizzyNorthernBird · 05/07/2015 13:34

Hello!

10 easy miles from me to add to the total today Smile, my first run since Wednesday as I've been avoiding the heat, although I managed a boot camp class on Thursday and a swim on Friday. I'm off to Spain tomorrow and won't be taking my running shoes with me as I clearly can't handle running in the heat Blush so I'm hoping a week of swimming will keep me ticking over until I come back on Friday.

Legs were tired today despite the rest this last week. I'm not holding out much hope at all for next weekends hm race, it'll have to be a 'get round' strategy.

I also suffer with gastric distress with longer runs....I'm fine with hm training but with anything longer I get terrible cramping and used to have to pop into a pub to use the loo on my marathon long runs! I found it helped to avoid gluten in the days before a long run but after my last hm race I had really bad cramps all afternoon. Possibly from the ISO gels but I'd rather suffer afterwards than attempt to run without!

much cooler
lovely rainy cloudy day:)
what a relief!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/07/2015 15:27

3.1 from parkrun yesterday. Hoping to go out later when the rain stops.

200.82

Anglaise1 · 05/07/2015 18:04

Aggressive I love getting lost and finding new routes to run, glad it worked out OK for you.
Dizzy enjoy your week in Spain. It will do you good to have a rest. A friend of mine ran her best HM when she hadn't done any running for a month before because of an injury, so don't give up hope! Being well rested is very important in races too. Sorry you have GI problems too, it would be wonderful to find a magic cure but I guess some people have more sensitive instestines than others!
6 miles from yesterday, plus 12 very muddy and hilly miles from this morning's run with a few guys from the club. It was nice and cool, but very wet and there was a VTT race on the same route as us so the trails were muddier and more slippery than usual. But I really enjoyed it and also the lack of stomach cramps all afternoon!

Hi hi sorry been a bit absent
A long and miserable 15 from me this morning mine plus bangings 6.4 240.22

familygermsareok · 05/07/2015 20:11

I also love getting lost and discovering new routes. As long as I don't have any time limitations!
Glad you had a good day Anglaise, that sounds perfect Smile
I've read up a bit on GI problems as I get some too, and as suzanne said sometimes it is thought to be a combination of physical jolts/ jiggling of abdominal organs and reduced blood flow to intestines during exercise, often exacerbated by dehydration. Thankfully mine seems more related to my IBS as I don't get pain, just an unpredictable urgent need to empty my bowels, unrelated to distance or food intake. Bit of a nuisance but as most of my runs are in quiet countryside it is manageable. Imodium does the trick for races! Yours and Dizzy's sound really unpleasant though.

Well done Banging, that's great Smile

familygermsareok · 05/07/2015 20:27

And a lovely Boat Festival 10k from me. Good running conditions, 14 degrees which is still a bit hot for racing for my liking but the sea haar was in and also a nice cool breeze so it was really very pleasant.
Official times not in yet but according to my Garmin I smashed my PB by a minute and a half so I'm very very happy. 7th woman in according to DH's tally. Grin Grin Grin
DH and the DS's enjoyed their 2k run too and the Boat Festival was fab, loads of interesting stalls and music.
DS1 says it is all the extra runs he has been making me do that helped. He has designated himself as my official trainer Wink

240.22 + 6.1 = 246.32

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/07/2015 20:58

6 slow and sweaty miles from me. I'd intended 5, so was pleased to have got a bit further than planned.

I had a good session on my foam roller when I got home and am heading off to bed (early start tomorrow).

Sorry to hear you had a miserable run lastqueen, hope the next one is better.

252.32

Anglaise1 · 05/07/2015 21:15

14°C a bit too warm, LOL Family! And congratulations on your PB for the 10k. The Boat Festival sounds like it was really good fun.
Well done on your 6 miles especially if they were sweaty, Ohone. Until recently I hadn't appreciated how hard it was to run when it is seriously hot.

Putting in my 10k from the Wellington Marathon. Did it in 62 mins which I'm happy with. It is meant to be winter here but the sun was shining and a bit too hot for me! (probably around 14 degrees too family!)

Got a fantastic blingy medal at the end as it is the 30th anniversary of the race and also an anniversary towel Grin

My next goal is a sub 60 minute 10k which I think should be achievable. I had a brief 2 min walk about half way in the 10k when I just got too hot and wanted to walk at the water station, and then at the end when it goes up a steep ramp. It's a lovely flat race along the water front, but starts and ends at the sports stadium which means ending on a steep ramp walkway to get to the end!

Whowouldfardelsbear · 06/07/2015 04:46

So that's 258.52

familygermsareok · 06/07/2015 09:34

Well done Whowould, that's great! Smile Sounds like a challenging finish too.

Grin I do feel a bit Blush at finding 14 degrees hot. I can run very slowly in the summer but don't often do races then and find the heat really saps my energy, even at that level. I am definitely built for Scottish weather Wink

6.1 with DS1 this morning. He wanted a 10k for his Strava but after we stopped his phone only showed it as 9.9k so he will have to try again.

258.52 + 6.1 = 264.62

standingonlego · 06/07/2015 09:39

Any Derbyshire-ish runners out there? I am doing this one a week on Saturday....I have walked it plenty over the years but bit daunted at the thoughts of running it.

HalleLouja · 06/07/2015 09:44

4.9 miles yesterday. The last bit is up a hill and I really pushed myself to get up and couldn't bring myself to run the last 0.1 miles to make 5!

269.52

emummy · 06/07/2015 11:27

4.7 from me on holiday in Fife, nice wee run through fields
274.22

AggressiveBunting · 06/07/2015 13:32

Adding 5 from this evening to make 279.22. Working on my uphill pace. I find it so hard to go out in the evenings but am always ok once I get going. Doesn't help that the first km of this route is straight up a massively steep (unrunnable) hill and with unwarmed up calves it's a bit of a slog.

emummy · 06/07/2015 14:48

Glad you enjoyed your Portsoy race family, well done on your time. Sounds like the holiday is going well! Planning a go on the Fife coast path tomorrow for my run, good fun running in a new place.

Anglaise1 · 06/07/2015 18:09

7 miles from this evening, only 28°C so cool compared to last week's evening runs. Looking to do a little trail race next Monday, 17.5kms to make up for the race I didn't do on Sunday. I don't usually get stomach cramps until 18kms plus so hopefully should be OK afterwards.
286.22

Some brilliant runs this weekend. Well done whowould from what I remember about Wellington is that its very windy, interesting horrific plane landing experience, not sure if was like that for you but can imagine it would help/hinder depending on the route.

Brilliant result family and greta with your PB. I am totally with you on the temp front, I may moan about the Scottish weather but give me a cold day and I'm happy.

Had the opposite this weekend as was down in London for a family do. Cousin took me for an 8 mile circuit of Richmond Park on Saturday in 28 degree heat. Some sections felt like I was crossing the African savannah. Very new experience for me too as not used to being around so many other runners unless in a race, place was packed with them!! Got home this morning and managed a wee 4 miler this afternoon in the relatively cool and quiet 21 degrees of Aberdeenshire Smile.

8 + 4 + 286.22 = 298.22

lastqueenofscotland · 06/07/2015 20:35

No running from me as definately still sore from yesterday's 15 miles.

Entered a race two weeks away to keep me motivated and will be back running tomorrow, with 2 runs on weds thurs, day off fri and long one on Saturday so I can spend Sunday stuffing myself and watching Wimbledon

BobblesAndClips · 06/07/2015 21:33

I made it out yesterday before tea, with a plan to do at least 5 miles and ended up doing 5.4 so was very pleased with that. It's great to think that I can now go out and run 5-6 miles. It wasn't so long ago that my longest runs were 3-4 miles and that felt a long way.

I just need to work on my pace now (especially up hills!).

298.22+5.4 = 303.62
