For all those doing any of Jillian Michaels' exercise programmes, welcome - the old thread is here if you want to check back.

Marking place for tomorrow which will be week 6 of Body Rev for me - nearly half way through!

And as for the 400lb people she has doing jumping jacks... Always makes me want to yell 'yeah, but I'm 500lbs'. (I'm not, but she's not to know, is she? Or is she even more omniscient than I previously thought?)

Pippi Grin

MsRaspberryJam · 17/05/2015 18:08

And the bit during the bicycle crunches when she tells you your pain is fear leaving the body. By that point, you're so exhausted you'll believe anything!

I also love the bit in Ri30 when she says "Do not release the contraction on your bicep because that would make me angry!"

Grantaire · 17/05/2015 21:36

Thanks for replying.

I seem to replay "just when it starts to hurt, those are the ones that count the most" when I'm knackered. The Shred is imprinted on my brain. I did levels 1, 2 and 3 this morning while waiting for a friend.

I'm going to get the boxset. The kickboxing one sounds right up my street and I like the idea of the One Week Shred. Yoga in the desert in sunglasses I may skip. In fact, once I have the boxset, I'll do it once for the sheer fun of it and then I'll check back on here and see if anybody wants it? Happy to share the Jillian love. Besides, yoga isn't really my cup of tea. 6W6P is still my favourite Jillian for effectiveness on the core. Hard Body sounds okay as I'm quite keen on push ups. I'll come back and gate crash again after pay day!

grannygrotts · 18/05/2015 00:04

Been away for a week, apparently to the Costa del Lava. I have a photo showing the temperature at 46 degrees, and after imbibing one or two cooling beers with several plates of tapas I appear to be nearly 3kg heavier Shock so I will be reacquainting myself with Jillian and 30DS L1 tomorrow.

ImogenQuy · 18/05/2015 06:59

Grantaire, Jillian's version isn't yoga - it's a workout with some vaguely yoga shapes thrown in. (Squat thrusts feature a lot.) I quite liked it, and it's pretty effective - I really knew I'd been working afterwards - but anyone who loved yoga would be really disappointed.

Body Rev phase 2 week 8 workout 7. That was a Bad Workout Day - everything seemed twice as hard as usual and I had to keep stopping during the push-ups. We're away for part of half term so I may do an extra run of workouts 7 and 8 next week before moving on to phase 3, in the hope that I can finally nail the evil plank circuit at the beginning of this one.

pippi, in Body Rev she keeps threatening to come through the screen and beat my ass if I'm not working hard enough!

I've had a look at the yoga workout online and read the reviews. It's not really my kind of thing. I will give it a go but I suspect I won't like it. The Hard Body and Kickboxing sound much more like my kind of thing.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 18/05/2015 09:51

Has anyone every tried Rebelfit? It looks v similar to Jillian (focus on high intensity shorter workouts but more focused, strength and cardio) but its "live' aka you are in a group online and get emailed your workout every day, and there's also a facebook support group. I was thinking of joining the JumpStart Mission on 1 July, but not sure.

Batmam · 18/05/2015 11:15

Snap Granny, just back from holiday and scared to step on the scales! I had gotten to 30DS L2 D5 before leaving but was only doing it every other day so not quite as diligent as Jillian would like. Back on it tomorrow...

blodynmawr · 18/05/2015 20:52

Checking in.
Still alternating NMTZ and BFBM.
Hoping to get some new Jillian DVDs too next payday.
Quite like the sound of the Kick box one, depending on how similar it is to BFBM, so may also be tempted to by the box set mentioned up thread. Smile

grannygrotts · 18/05/2015 21:01

Last exercise was L1 D6 30DS on 8 May. Despite distinct lack of enthusiasm I have hauled myself off the sofa and faced Jillian shouting at me. Please tell me that counts as L1 D6.

Errol sorry to hear your DH is unwell. Can you look at somewhere in Europe to holiday instead of Turkey and use an EHIC card?

Batman - good luck with your shred tomorrow. L1 wasn't as bad as it could have been but I found my joints quite stiff as we were on a coach trip, so lots of sitting.

ImogenQuy · 19/05/2015 07:14

Body Rev phase 2 week 8 workout 8. Considerably better than yesterday, and I managed quite a few of the moves with my 4 kg weights.

I haven't tried Rebelfit, Peonies. It sounds a bit scary .

Good luck, Batmam! And well done for getting back on it, grannygrotts. If you've got up and faced Jillian, it counts.

Right, I finally faced Jillian and have now done each level 10 times and I have come up with a doable plan for exercise-and-work:
Mon Pilates, and 3 miles to and from the CM.
Tues DS has nursery in the morning and DD doesn't seem to mind watching me do Shred when we get back from dropping him.
Weds or maybe Friday I'll try and do Yoga Meltdown in the evening (the only thing I will really get round to in the evening at home)
Thurs the DCs are in nursery early now so swimming before work.

I really should try to do another workout over the weekend but nap times are being a bit random at the moment.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 19/05/2015 17:15

I am facing the unknown horror of 30DS L2 the day after tomorrow (Day 9 L1 today Shock ) help!!! What lies before me?!

MsRaspberryJam · 19/05/2015 20:33

It's doable, Peonies. But it's certainly challenging. I'd recommend very light weights (or none) when you get to the chair squats with V raises. Trust me on this!

I did level two of Hard Body for the first time. I didn't realise until halfway through that it is fifty minutes! I was horrified! But it was a very fun workout, I must say. I laughed quite a lot while hopping up and down like a hot penguin.

pippistrelle · 19/05/2015 21:52

I agree with MsRaspberry on the V raises. They use muscles that I didn't even know I had before and, therefore, caused considerable pain. Also, there are three plank based things. I don't know about you, Peonies, but planks and me weren't much acquainted before, and I found them shockingly hard, but I've actually improved more than I ever thought possible in a fairly short period of time. (Due to DILIGENCE, I expect...) I'm probably about ready to move on to L3, but I've got a long weekend away coming up so I'll stick with L2, I think, until I get back from that when I'll no doubt be in need of some re-education.

ImogenQuy · 20/05/2015 06:51

Body Rev phase 2 week 8 cardio done. Blueurgh. Why is it that I find butt kicks very straightforward and high knees really painful? You'd think they'd be about as easy or as difficult as each other.

drspouse, that sounds like a good workout plan. I really ought to find a Pilates class again - I used to do it twice a week before I had DS, but I haven't had time ever since.

Peonies, I also agree about the V raises: they are evil (more evil even than the anterior raises in L1). Definitely don't go heavier than 1kg for those, and you might want to use tins of beans instead. However, on the whole I like L2 better than L1 - it's more interesting and you don't keep coming back to sodding jumping jacks. (Can you tell I'm not a cardio fan?)

mildlyacquiescent · 20/05/2015 06:51

Peonies, you'll be fine. Personally, I love level two of the Shred. Those walk out pushups are far easier for me than a series of pushups in a row. Agree about squats and v raises though... I always end up dropping my weights by the end!

Just did Levels 1 and 2 of Killer Buns and Thighs back to back. Love this DVD and think it's probably her most effective one apart from BFBM. About to do her YouTube arms workout again. It only takes about ten minutes, lifting dumbbells interspersed with jumprope, but it's great.

Off to Essex today for a pleasure trip and happy to see the sunshine. May it last. Smile

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 20/05/2015 08:38

but I can't even finish the anterior raises in L1!!! Shock they kill me. I can do pretty much everything else, even a few pushuups but by the last round of anterior raises with a side lunge I am dripping and my arms feel like lead. alas.

drspouse · 21/05/2015 09:48

I did my YM last night (I actually did camel rather than just resting my hands on the back of my thighs) and my swim this morning! I need to get my act in gear though with swimming as nursery opens at 8.15 and the pool closes for schools at 9. It's 5 mins walk but today I faffed around going to DD's room (they have breakfast and then go to their rooms) and going back to the car to get my swimming bag.

I can't remember if I've said but I spotted a set of Swimfit workouts which are kind of circuit-y, at the pool. Apparently there's a website to log them but though I found it I can't work out the logging part. Anyway I did 18 lengths.

drspouse · 21/05/2015 09:49

(And that also means I've reached my workout goal/plan for the week so anything else is a bonus! Need to fit in an extra Shred or something on Monday as there's no Pilates with the BH)

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 21/05/2015 14:03

Last day of L1 today. Body Revolution arrived - are people on here actually following her diet as well? Bc it looks insane!

MsRaspberryJam · 21/05/2015 16:07

I see loads of people are doing Body Revolution, but I don't know what it is. Is it a normal Jillian? Would anyone mind describing it to me?

MsRaspberryJam · 21/05/2015 16:09

I'm resting until the weekend from exercise at the minute due to injured elbows, of all things.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 21/05/2015 16:34

Its a 90 day workout program a bit like the shred with different levels and workouts for different days, but it comes with Jillian's diet recommendations which are crazy! I think tbh it might be targeted at people wanting to lose a huge amount of weight very fast, but I have heard great things about it for toning/building strength and losing fat for slimmer people too.
It feels v like the 30DS but more intense.
