For all those doing any of Jillian Michaels' exercise programmes, welcome - the old thread is here if you want to check back.

Marking place for tomorrow which will be week 6 of Body Rev for me - nearly half way through!

Thanks Imogen. Looks like I just have to suck it up. I was putting my foot getting caught on the mat down to not being flexible enough to swing my leg through. I was hoping for a cheat on the crab thing, but I just think I have weedy triceps and even one dip hurts everything.

May I ask what weights fellow body revers use? I am using 3 and 4 kg depending on the exercise. I was feeling bad seeing them using 8 and 12, but then I realise they are probably in lbs and cheered up a bit.

Body Rev, Phase 1, week 3, workout 4 second time done. I do love that workout, I even like the cardio.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/05/2015 12:12

NMTZ this morning. Glad you like it MrsS. I'm sure it would be good to do it just at the weekends and then something else some of the weekdays (but do take a rest!). For one thing, because it's not really got cardio (though some of it makes me breath darned hard!) it's probably good to mix it up with other workouts. Or you can choose say 4 circuits.

Lambzig, your're right - I think JM's weights are in pounds! I'd been wondering it's hard to tell from their appearance so I just googled. Her adjustable kettlebell - not a bad price if anyone's thinking of it - goes up to 20lb and I found her weights set in walmart (US) and that's 3, 5 and 8 lbs. Well, that's made me happy! Grin I was doing my concentration curls with 6kgs - so, that's still a lot less than the 20s she says she can do but a heck of a lot more than the 3lb she was using!

RuddyHellItsSoftCell · 05/05/2015 19:33

Thank you, when dcs are asleep I will tackle day 3 with my beans Grin

blodynmawr · 05/05/2015 21:00

Checking in, thanks for the new thread Imogen Smile.
NMTZ this morning after a long weekend with no JM workouts, but I did fit in a couple of long walks.
Errol I have been using 5kg for NMTZ circuit 3 for the past month, but can feel that some of the moves I could go higher and match your 6kg! Do you have any rec's for 6kg dumb bells? Mine are part of a set (1.5kg, 3kg and 5kg) I got from Argos whilst at Uni in the early 1990s. The plastic on all of them is tatty now so the entire set could probably do with being replaced. The Walmart set you linked to looks sleek and grippy compared to my evidently inferior 1990s plastic examples, so am coveting! Our local Aldi had some fitness gear in recently but no 6kg dumbbells...

ErrolTheDragon · 05/05/2015 22:07

Our weights are a mish-mash aquired in different places over the years but the 6kgs are these from Sports Direct. The foam grip is comfortable. The weights tend to very slightly unscrew, nowhere near enough to actually fall off but a bit annoying to have to tighten them. I use those for the hammer curls and concentration curls, but 10lbs for the rest of set 3 (so ~4.5kgs, you're beating me there blod! Grin) apart from the deadlift which I do separate to the hammer curl with DH's 10kg pair and careful obedience to JMs command not to round my back (learned that the hard way last year).

The 8kg pair are I think these, again they're comfortable but they're solid. (DH's, I don't use them for much.)

If I didn't already have weights which covered this range I'd like the look of this set. (2,4 and 6 kgs).

(I should add that I use 3kgs or 5lbs for most of the other sets!)

UmBongo · 05/05/2015 22:19

Day 4 done, shred level 1, aching a bit less, but the middle cardio with star jumps and jump rope was a bit tricky. Good luck Ruddyhell

I have some 1kg weights I got from argos a couple of years ago when I last tried this. I did start with bean cans though.

MsRaspberryJam · 05/05/2015 22:27

Me again! I have been lax recently. I have been going through Kickbox Fastfix lots in the last week though. Loving the kicks and punches and the very short running time.

I'm thinking of doing the One Week Shred starting this weekend. Two forty minute workouts a day Confused

blodynmawr · 05/05/2015 22:34

Cheers Errol, will check out Argos and put my kettle bell yearnings on the back burner for this month! Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 05/05/2015 22:53

Well done bongo, you're over the worst now. I always hated the jjs and jump rope combo so swapped one of them with one of the set 1 cardio moves.

grannygrotts · 06/05/2015 00:09

Well done UmBongo - I took a rest day today and kind of wondering whether I made the wrong decision. Too late now. Have to hope day 4 tomorrow isn't too bad.

ImogenQuy · 06/05/2015 07:20

Body Rev phase 2 cardio done (second time). Bleurgh. Hate high knees, hate plie hops, hate cross jacks (new and evil variant on jumping jacks, which I also hate). I wish I were a person who loved exercise!

Lambzig, I'm using 2 and 3 kg weights - occasionally going up to 4 on some of the "back of body" moves but not often. In workout 6 there are weighted supermans and I have to use 1 kg weights for those - in fact I struggled so much yesterday I considered going back down to tins of beans!

MsRaspberry, I have the one-week Shred - I can't imagine ever having time to do it! I bought it in a fit of optimism at the end of last year.

Lambzig · 06/05/2015 14:43

Thanks Imogen, I liked that cardio workout much better, but then I like the plié hops and the cross jacks much more than jumping jacks. I struggled with the weighted supermans too last time I did Body Rev. I think I did go down to 1kg for them as otherwise I wasn't doing them properly.

Day off for me as I have a 12 hour day in London. My boss commented on how slim I was looking (although that might be the navy blouse, navy trousers outfit I have on today). Week 4 starts tomorrow for me.

Muddymits · 06/05/2015 14:47

Can I join, am starting tonight. 30day shred thingy, here we go.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 15:17

Welcome, muddymits!

KB&T L3 again today. Did a little better with the rock star/cannon ball when I realised that natalie does a little bounce between them, that did allow me to get my feet a few inches off the ground. Obviously nothing like she does though!

blodynmawr · 06/05/2015 19:11

NMTZ this morning.
Intrigued by the One Week Shred MrsRaspberry. Does it have the same format as the 30DS? Will check out and may get it as an alternative to BFBM and NMTZ. On the lookout for other JM alternatives as have found Hard Body too annoying to use regularly so it is gathering dust...Blush

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 19:41

Maybe we should do a swapshop, as different people like different things.

If anyone wants to try Six Week Six Pack and/or Extreme Shed and Shred PM me and I'll pop them in the post. First come first served.

MsRaspberryJam · 06/05/2015 21:07

I have five child free days coming up as I had booked time off for a holiday that was cancelled. I thought I could use the time to get mega fit, which just goes to show how crazy Jillian can make you!

I am not sure of the format yet. I'm planning to start Friday after finishing work, so I will let you know. (Provided I don't chicken out!)

grannygrotts · 06/05/2015 21:08

D4L1 30DS done. Not as bad as I feared after a rest day although those anterior arm raises with lunges are still killer. No run as the sky was so dark the threat of being soaked didn't appeal, so did a bit more ab work and finished off with 1 min plank.

Muddymits hope your shred went well.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 21:25

granny - Star for 1 min plank! The anterior raises really are hard - what weights do you use for those? They were what made me get some 1.5kg weights as I didn't used to be able to do them with 5lbs (and they still weren't easy). Upthread someone said they didn't know why they were so hard - well, mostly its the fault of physics, the leverage is maximised if you've got your arms straight out in front of you. Same sort of thing with 'pushouts', which are another I find need smaller weights. Oh, and same again with weighted supermans (which last time I tried I had to get some 500ml water bottles, couldn't do it with weights at all).

pippistrelle · 06/05/2015 21:35

Oh hello. I did my second day of Level 2 of the 30DS today. I can't actually imagine ever being able to do it competently. The squat thrusts, and the plank things are incredibly hard for me - even doing the 'easy'versions.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 21:45

They are difficult, pippi, I never thought I'd be able to do a squat thrust but eventually I found I could. (whether competently or not I wouldn't like to say!)

pippistrelle · 06/05/2015 22:11

Reading through the old thread, I saw that some people reckon L2 is actually harder than L3. That gives me some comfort, and hope for the future!

UmBongo · 06/05/2015 22:17

Hi Muddymits I hope you did ok this evening, I've just done day 5 and the aching is much less, but the 2 minutes cardio still tricky. Although ds had cubs this evening so I didn't get it done til 9.30 ish which is a bit too late! Not looking forward to level 2, may have to go out running by then.

Muddymits · 06/05/2015 23:32

Well done but I am not counting it as was so slow working out what I should be doing! I am not a natural or seems:)

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2015 23:44

Don't worry muddymits, some of the moves can take a while to get the hang of. I pause and rewind as necessary. Also sometimes I think it's better to take it a bit slower rather than keeping pace with them until you've got the form sorted out.
