For all those doing any of Jillian Michaels' exercise programmes, welcome - the old thread is here if you want to check back.

Marking place for tomorrow which will be week 6 of Body Rev for me - nearly half way through!

Errol Flowers hope it is a good outcome for your DH.
My brother was recently very ill but is getting better now and I found that the regular JM exercise helped keep me sane throughout. Hope you find the same.
Did NMTZ this morning in the end.

drspouse · 13/05/2015 08:20

Well yes, you have to enjoy it! We often travel on separate policies but if he wants to do the sports too that's no good. Hope it's smooth and quick anyway.

mildlyacquiescent · 13/05/2015 17:39

Hope your husband will be OK and that you get to holiday somewhere nice, Errol.

Outstanding work, Imogen. I love that particular cardio but have to avert my eyes from the ghastly David. I guess I don't find him very aspirational! Wink The other men on that vid are cute, though.

Rest day for me today, so played in the park in the sunshine with my kid.

Trenzalor · 13/05/2015 22:38

I couldn't bear the idea of a forty minute workout so instead of moving on to Killer I thought I'd do the Shred again. I out Natalied Natalie - what a slacker!

ErrolTheDragon · 13/05/2015 23:40

We'd rather sail without sun than sit on a beach doing nowt!Grin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 14/05/2015 06:58

may I join?Smile I'm on day 5 of the 30DS, I've been unable to exercise due to major surgery and have put on weight and lost a lot of tone (before surgery I was running 3-4 days a week). I find it challenging but do-able, using 1kg weights - would people recommend higher weights?

Also I am wondering what to do more long-term after 30DS is over... do people just swap between her various DVDs?

ImogenQuy · 14/05/2015 07:09

Body Rev phase 2 week 7 workout 7 done. This is a seriously painful one; as well as that first plank circuit she keeps coming back to variations on push-ups. I also hate that resistance cable: it's giving me friction burns!

Welcome, Peonies! You could try different weights for different exercises: I can go heavier on back and biceps exercises than I can on shoulders and triceps. But "challenging but do-able" sounds about right - maybe stick with the 1kg weights for another week or two.

If you like the Shred format, Ripped in 30 is a good one to move onto. There are people on here doing quite a few of her DVDs: I'm working my way through Body Revolution, which is a 90-day programme, and other people are mixing and matching between DVDs.

Yay Peonies! I was on 0.5kg for the first , so resPECK. After Shred, there are lots of great Jillian DVDs. My favourites are the ststrengthening DVD No More Trouble Zones, the difficult but wonderfully invigorating cardio DVD Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and my favourite one, Killer Buns and Thighs. The first two take 50 odd mins each, Killer Buns is more like 40

Very interesting following your reports on BE, Imogen.

mildlyacquiescent · 14/05/2015 16:09

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 14/05/2015 17:53

Thanks for the lovely welcome Smile I will look at some more DVDs online tonight. I love all the names esp Killer Buns and Thighs - I suspect my thighs could already kill someone if I unleashed them but not in a muscular athletic way Grin

ImogenQuy · 15/05/2015 07:02

Body Rev phase 2 week 7 workout 8 done. Much easier than workout 7, even with the weighted Warrior 3 pose - it helped that for some reason the cat was sulking this morning and stayed in her basket.

Two days off beckon...

Chris! Managed to wrangle an unexpected half-hour to myself so thought I'd 'just' do Ripped Level 2 as I have it mentally categorised as an easy workout. Flipping hell! I'd forgotten of her two minutes of plank jacks and mountain climbers repeated. The first circuit is properly vicious! Got quite sweaty. Must revisit Ripped as I'd forgotten how effective it was.

Peonies, I love the daft workout titles too. In the country where I live, Killer Buns was sold on a pirated DVD under a title which can be translated back into English as 'Murderous Buttocks.' Grin

Grantaire · 15/05/2015 14:09

Can I just gatecrash and ask if any of you have the Ultimate Jillian boxset? I am going to treat myself to a new boxset or dvd at the end of the month and want some recommendations.

I've done lots of other Jillian DVDs (shred, 6w6p, nmtz, kbt, ripped) but am not sure whether to splash out. I'd like Body Rev but can't afford it. I tend to err on the side of whatever Jillian puts out being good but am umming and aahing.

I'm pretty fit and find Shred a bit easy for example so am looking for a bit of a challenge.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 15/05/2015 17:50

L1D6 of 30DS, almost didn't do it but forced myself and feel so virtuous. AND I think it is actually getting a bit easier Grin

Have ordered the Killer Buns and Body Revolution, also tempted by the cardio one as I miss running so much.

MsRaspberryJam · 15/05/2015 21:54

What's on the Ultimate Jillian, Grantaire?

I've been doing the One Week Shred over a longer period of time due to intermittent issues with vertigo. But guys! Guys! Let me tell you, the One Week Shred gets results!!

mildlyacquiescent · 15/05/2015 23:43

Amazon says that the Ultimate Jillian box set has:

  1. Hard Body - which I personally was v disappointed with, but could suit if you like pushups and have plenty of space
  1. Kickbox Fastfix - haven't done but want! Has had mostly rave reviews
  1. Killer Abs- did level 1 a few times, like it ( but prefer 6wk6pk)
  1. Yoga Inferno... Good workout but not for purists! Models wearing sunglasses and doing yoga moves to techno beats in the desert
  1. One week shred- see Raspberry. Not done it myself but it is definitely now rely on my wishlist.

Can't offer much insight but at twenty six pounds that's certainly ok value-wise... plenty to be going on with! I'd get it for the kickboxing and one week shred alone.

Now Raspberry... more about these results please!

And fabulous work, Peonies! I hope you love them your new acquisitions

mildlyacquiescent · 15/05/2015 23:46

Sorry about all the mistakes in that post... My phone keeps inserting words everywhere. Angry

MsRaspberryJam · 16/05/2015 19:35

Well then yes, I can definitely recommend that boxset because I purchased it recently. It's much more motivational to have many work outs to choose from.

The results of One Week Shred:

Upper stomach very tight
Legs like thick cables
Arms that have been described by my boyfriend as 'too strong'

Downsides:

It hurts like you wouldn't believe
Dehydration headaches from all the sweating and forgetting to drink enough water
I got cramp in my ABS yesterday. I didn't even know that was possible. It was terrifying!

pippistrelle · 17/05/2015 11:19

I have slacked off from shredding for a week (although I've been doing other stuff), but got back to it this morning to find that I can now do squat thrusts, and plank jacks. Not quite for the full time required but I could barely manage any at all last week. I quite impressed myself!

pippistrelle · 17/05/2015 11:22

Oh, and the One Week Shred sounds terrifying. Makes me realise that I have a long way to go. On the other hand, I've already come a long way, so it's all good.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/05/2015 11:45

I've been reading reviews of Body Rev online and WHY is it so much cheaper in America?? It's unfair! Angry I want those abs for free cheaper

MsRaspberryJam · 17/05/2015 14:30

Peonies "You don't get these kind of abs for free, people!"

Is that from the first level of the Shred, right? I think everything she says during that is permanently imprinted on my brain. "Can't I just do curls? No, you cannot!"

MsRaspberryJam · 17/05/2015 14:31

Pipistrelle, that's impressive! Those things are hard!

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/05/2015 16:03

"that is a false message of lethargy..you cannot just take the stairs. You are capable of working out and working out hard" - that's my fav Jillian quote. Grin

mildlyacquiescent · 17/05/2015 16:18

I know what you mean.Grin There's a set of mountain climbers in one of her workouts, maybe BFBM, and just when I'm about to give up, she says something like, 'You have no idea how strong you are until you try' and I keep going. Bless her. I think people will be doing these workouts in 100 years' time. She is da bomb.
