Hi everyone, new thread started! Grin

LaughingM · 29/04/2015 20:48

I love this thread too Grin

However, and I hate to say this, I still don't think our maths is right. When I added on my miles last night we were at 1437 and now 1283... I might be mistaken but I can't see where/why we lost 200 miles!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/04/2015 20:52

Thanks for asking stilllearning, it's better and worse at different times that seem unrelated to anything! He's icing regularly and taking ibuprofen but still training. It gave way Friday while he was swinging a kettle bell which he then dropped and made a huge dent in his rack which is pretty tough metal (28Kg kettle bell). He's wearing a support when he walks and he's wrapping it with his neck warmer he wear for winter motorbike riding at night to keep it warm. Still not seen anyone about it!

phlebasconsidered · 29/04/2015 20:59

I usually long run on Saturday ( currently at 7 miles, building .25 per week to get to hmmm in October), rest Sunday, short run Monday (5k or approx) and 2 hours martial arts, slow run Tuesday, rest weds, thurs (as am at work and teaching / marking) , 2 hours martial.arts Friday. But things muck it up. Dh was away all weekend so only managed Monday this week, will try to squash in one on Thursday after Inset.

Find the martial arts great for my dodgy knees and core strength.

Find the bloody oilseed rape dreadful! Makes me gasp for breath.

suzannecanthecan · 29/04/2015 21:09

?Oh my have we really gone that wrong with the sumsBlush
?

lastqueenofscotland · 29/04/2015 22:47

gave myself a day off in the end, have run 5 days in a row inc at least 4 miles walking a day for work etc so probably need it and felt distinctly unsound today too!

Still feel a bit guilty!
5k tomorrow, friday off as travelling alllll day, 10k saturday then try and squeeze in a 5k sunday and sprint session monday.

suzannecanthecan · 29/04/2015 23:04

I think it's probably a good idea for most people to have some non running days to give your body a chance to repair from the impact of running.

I also find that there is only a certain amount of exercise I can do before I feel wiped out, i think if you drain all the charge out of your battery it can be harder to recharge

AggressiveBunting · 30/04/2015 02:43

Never fear, accountancy girl is here. I knew it would come in handy!!

last queen is today's culprit re the stolen 200 miles.

So it should be 1483.19

I'm adding 4 from this morning to make 1487.19

I think the drop in miles is inevitable due to NYR drop off, injury, illness, new babies and some people (me included) dropping mileage having ramped up for very long races - in Jan/Feb I averaged 40 miles a week, but now I'm around 25 and will probably maintain that through the summer.

Re rest days, I usually have Sundays off. Other than that I run every day but 3 of those days it's just a way to get to Crossfit (2 miles each way) and the pace on that is pretty sedate- more so on the way back Grin. Had seriously wobbly legs today after burpee and airodyne sprint pieces. So I actually do "proper" running 3 days a week.

actiongirl1978 · 30/04/2015 06:49

Good work agressive I love accountants, my best friend is one Grin

I haven't been putting in my normal miles either, so no long runs for 5 weeks plus regular small ones accounts for quite a bit.

Happy Thursday everyone, I'm off to the gym to see if I can cross train away a flabby tummy and wobbly thighs.

OP posts:
Whowouldfardelsbear · 30/04/2015 07:06

Thanks for finding that agressive ! That makes it a bit less of a drop off.

I'm debating whether to run tonight or not. I should do because it is last day of April and will get our total up Grin , but it is so cold tonight and i won't be eating tea till 7 ish so won't be able t go out till 8.

lastqueenofscotland · 30/04/2015 07:16

whoops never was all that good at maths!!

Will run 5k tonight :)
Hate to admit it but feeling much better for a rest day.

Neeko · 30/04/2015 07:43

1487.19 + 3.15 from me today is 1490.34

My iPod logged my run wrongly this morning and added an extra 0.7 of a mile. So annoyed as it has made my pace and calorie count wrong too. I'm such a geek!

I am trying to lose a few pounds so have been watching what I'm eating more carefully this week. It's so much harder to run when your body is converting actual fat instead of last night's Dairy Milk Grin

holmessweetholmes · 30/04/2015 08:14

I almost never run on consecutive days. I've had injuries from over - training before (suspected stress fracture) so I have to be a bit careful. I've had a lot less trouble since I changed to a forefoot strike though, after reading Born to Run (great book!).

Today is supposed to be hills or intervals for me. Hmmmm - which do I fancy? Either way, I'm afraid it won't add much to our total!

MrsStevenPatrickMorrissey · 30/04/2015 08:28

Morning all, sorry not very good at keeping up here Blush can I add my 4 miles from lastnight, I'm rubbish at maths so no help there!! holmes I've just ordered Born To Run from Amazon Smile

HalleLouja · 30/04/2015 09:56

Aggressive all the best people are accountants.....

Whowouldfardelsbear · 30/04/2015 10:42

so I went out. 4.13 miles.

It would have been further, but I realised about 2 miles in that I'd lost my bank card (must have fallen out of my phone pouch) so I had to retrace my steps in the dark to hope I'd find it. I didn't. Very annoying as I had to cancel it and now have to wait for a replacement and hope I get it before we go away on holiday next Saturday.

so my 4.13 and morrisey's 4 = 1498.47

Loueytb3 · 30/04/2015 11:10

Can anyone join in??? I'm a runner - not doing massive mileage at the moment, more ticking over but every little counts (as they say). And its helping to counteract my new hobby which is baking (and eating) cakes.

HalleLouja · 30/04/2015 11:26

Welcome Louey. I think I know you from our postnatal threads..... We may have even met a long time ago. I wasn't a runner then though.

Today I am going to meet a guy who is going to analyse my running. He is one of my club mates and trained to help with running.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/04/2015 12:42

I heart this thread as well.

My personal April total is somewhat lower than J/F/M - a combination of losing some Sundays (my usual long run day) and being extra busy at work (losing my lunchtime runs). But I WILL go out this evening to bump myself up for the month Smile

Welcome Louey, all welcome here Smile

Knackerelli · 30/04/2015 13:39

I have a 5.33 club run to add so 1503.8 (hopefully!)

Was looking forward to a pub run tonight (where we run from a pub and then come back for food) but DH has to work late so I can't go Sad

Have we heard from 5mad how her DS is?

suzannecanthecan · 30/04/2015 13:55

from me 8.48 miles
=1512.28

suzannecanthecan · 30/04/2015 14:08

Hi Louey funny you should mention cakes, I've recently started baking them again having not made cakes for years and years

I'm also a bit dubious about running consecutive days Holmes this is only the second time I've done it.
I felt fine in terms of joints and muscles but noticed that my heart rate was significantly higher at the same speed compared to yesterdays run so I guess it is a bit more stressful that running every other day.

I hope you'll be able to share some of your running friends conclusions Halle lucky thingWink wish I had a trained expert on hand!

My April total is 163 miles, which is up on March (160) but down on Feb (176) I'm hoping I'll be able to build up past the feb total now that I seemHmm to have got the pita under control.

holmessweetholmes · 30/04/2015 14:11

Urgh - can't seem to motivate myself to get out for a run today! Might have to be an early evening one...

Loueytb3 · 30/04/2015 17:39

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Hallelouja - yes we have met :-) I think you were just getting back into running when you left the group.

Not running today - I've run the past two days. Hoping to do a longer run tomorrow to start off next month. I'm running 10-20 miles a week at the moment.

Went into DS1's school today and met one of his TAs who ran the London Marathon on Sunday. She has told me about a new marathon (race for life) being run in October, I need to look it up. I've signed up to run the Brighton marathon next year so that will help get the mileage up....

Anglaise1 · 30/04/2015 17:52

Welcome to the thread, Louey and good luck with your marathon training (whenever you start it!) Have you done marathons before?
6 miles from me to finish my April total whatever that is! No running tomorrow, then the relay race on Saturday (the weather forecast is pants).
1518.28

suzannecanthecan · 30/04/2015 18:05

is it weird and obsessive of me to keep a record of my monthly mileageBlush
