Grab Your Tuna!

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Yes, I'm still Davinaing. I didn't do any exercise on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, although I did do some mammoth amounts of walking around the shops on Friday getting the holiday bits and pieces.

I didn't do anything at the weekend because I'm trying to get my MSc dissertation finished before I go on holiday in just under 2 weeks. I've only got 2 more sections to write - woohoo.

This morning I did, warm up, UF burner, Fitness challenge, abs and some stretch.

I will also do Davina tomorrow morning and I'll try and do a swim as well. I find swimming allows me to think things through in a very calm manner or I just switch off, which is good at the moment due to the brain capacity I'm using doing the dissertation writing! The supplementary bonus to the extra exercise is that I'll hopefully get the last spurt of 'toning' done for my holiday.

Peace, you have done so well with your weight loss. I also eat relatively clean, but I don't have the same results as you. I haven't had any significant weight loss since I started, but I have lost an inch or two from my waist and hips (I didn't measure at the start) because I can now get some trousers on easily that were a bit on the snug side when I started.

All done again for today. I did the same as yesterday, so warm up, UF burner, fitness challenge, abs and some stretch. Apoarently it's going to be hot today, so I'll try and get a swim in as well, although I'll be able to make it a gentler swim.

I love swimming, just haven't done it for ages!

No exercise yet today, but plan to do something later on. Not sure if I should stick to the familiar circuits or try something new Hmm and

I have done warm up, Box fit, Fitness challenge, U Abs and some stretch this morning.

I've got my swimming stuff ready if I get an opportunity, but I've also got parents evening to go to, so I anticipate that I won't make swimming today.

The swim was lovely yesterday. I was absolutely boiling and to get into a cool pool with only 2 other people was absolute bliss.

After my last session, I bent awkwardly to pick up DS's laundry and did something to my back. I always knew house work was dangerous! I've had a rest though and hopefully will be OK to start again on Monday. I've really missed exercising which surprised me. Grin

Hi all! Gave birth to DD 4m ago and am so unhappy with my body that I'm considering doing some stupid milkshake diet or something not really.

I just want to be thinner pretty damn quickly, my weight has ballooned since giving birth, combination of boredom and well....... laziness? I'd like to drop a little bit of weight (quickly) so I feel more comfortable and then focus on long term.

Was feeling down about it all and a TV advert came on with Davina, have been reading through and considering starting this and using her calorie plus system but I have other health issues and am wondering how doable the exercises are......

Just feeling so sad, I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I need to do something but struggling big time Sad

velmadinkly · 19/07/2015 16:25

Oh, the thread is really quiet........

I'm one week into my 2 week holiday abroad and I've done davina twice and swam 3 times. The little dvd player has come in really useful. Hopefully any holiday weight gain will be miniscule.

I'm impressed velmadinkly! Just back from hol and getting back in gradually...
Moomaid- Davina 7 is do-able , because you start off thinking you'll only do one or two and keep adding on.

Today was my first session in over a month. ( Bad back / illness / lack of time ) When I started Davina last time I had done two weeks of the 30 Day Shred and found Davina pretty easy. Wow! What a difference having not exercised for a month. It was much harder this time round. I did warm up, fat burner, abs, tone and sculpt and stretch and I can really feel my legs now. I really enjoy Davina though. Hopefully I can get back into a regular exercise routine and start getting in shape. I hope to start horse riding again which is what kept me trim pre kids. Buying jodphurs was a depressing experience but couldn't get one leg in my old pairs. Grin Something to aim for!

MooMaid I'm sure Davina will work well for you. The 7 minute sessions are great as they're so short you end up thinking, "Oh I'll just do that as well." Evern doing warm up, fat burner and stretch will make a gradual difference especially if you combine it with healthy eating. The exercises are very simple compared with some of the ones in the 30 day shred. ( Gilliam Michaels - great for rapid change but bloody hard work and I found too hard of my knees eventually. Davina is much gentler. )

Velma exercising on holiday should give you extra brownie points! Grin

I ache today! Blush Normally I'd exercise through it but went to the dentist about a tooth that's been niggling for a few weeks days and they took it out as it had cracked in half! Ouch! The dentist said no exercise for 24hrs and rest. I feel like I've been punched in the chops so have followed her advice and morphed into a sofa slug for the day. Hopefully I'll be OK tomorrow to start again. Grin

velmadinkly · 30/07/2015 16:40

I started back exercising today by having a swim. I got a chesty cough the second week of the holiday, so I hadn't exercised for about 9 or 10 days.

I am away again next week, so I'm thinking about what I can do whilst I'm away. I'm going into my parents touring caravan, so not much room to do anything, or it might just be a matter of accepting it's that time of year when it is going to be difficult to keep at it 100%.

Oh and my exrcising on holiday resulted in me only gaining 2lb in total, so not too bad seeing as I was virtually main lining biscuits and crisps.

cherrytree63 · 16/08/2015 09:54

Hello everyone! I've been a bit less motivated as my health's not been too good, been on anti d's which just made me feel comatose!
Went away for a long weekend three weeks ago and stayed in holiday mode when I got back. Until yesterday....did fat burner and ultimate fat burner. Also managed to fall off the garden table onto the patio, bringing the table down on top of me (was standing on it to reach the washing line, what an idiot) so today I'm very sore but I'm going to have a long hike with the dogs in a minute.
My weight's hovering at around 9'8lbs, and I'm just about squeezing into size 10 jeans now, I've had a massive wardrobe clearout of everything too big.
I've just had my pre op check, so gained some fresh incentive, I'm having a double mastectomy and diep flap reconstruction next month, so want to lose as much weight as possible as want to keep my new boobs firm (vain, I know) as with the auto reconstruction your boobs gain and lose weight with the rest of you.
Also think that the fitter I am the easier and quicker my recovery will be!
In other news, my weight loss has been due to giving up sugar and processed food. Previously I was eating a full large bar of chocolate, crisps, biscuits every day. I've had no cravings or side effects BUT I've just realised that, although I'm not tempted by anyone else's "goodies" , if someone gets me sweet stuff I have no willpower. Ie my nephew from NZ came to stay and brought me 4 delicious bars of chocolate. I ate three. Then last week my OH bought me a box of 30profiteroles from Iceland. I ate the lot.
Gluttony personified!
Nice to see the regular posters on here, and to see new and returners, hope you all have a lovely Sunday, weather is good for getting out and moving about!
