Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Hi everyone, I've been dipping in and out of this thread since the beginning, you're all helping me with my motivation so thanks to you all!
I've been Davina'ing 2/3 times a week. It does wonders for my mood as well as my body!
At the beginning I posted about my bum and lower back wobbling about, I was worried that I'd end up with my backside hanging down to my ankles! But yesterday I realised that I had no rear end jiggle anymore!
I've cut out crap food, and lost a stone woo hoo ??
Hopefully it's onwards and downwards for me and everyone else here Grin

cherrytree63 · 15/05/2015 08:38

Ps forgot to say that I still really struggle with sit ups, crunches and press ups!

YonicScrewdriver · 15/05/2015 08:42

Back on my exercise bike this morning!

nipersvest · 15/05/2015 09:48

hi, i am a first time poster in the exercise topic (long time mnetter tho!), and am after a bit of advice really. i don't specifically exercise but would like to firm up my middle region (tum, bum and top of thighs), can anyone recommend things to do at home, dvd or website with exercises on to try?

AmazonGrace · 15/05/2015 14:28

Nipers, this DVD Grin Davina 7 minute fit! The leg session has started to tone my bottom especially, thighs are coming on slowly.

Today I've managed warm up, box fit and 40 lunges again. I'm kicking ass at those lunges now, I was a wobbly mess when I first started this journey as far as lunges were concerned! Love it!

shitebag · 15/05/2015 20:34

Holy mother of god!

I only managed the warm up and the fat burner and my legs are like jelly, I'm out if breath and getting a slight sweat on! How the hell do you lot manage?!

I must admit I'm a bit un-cordinated and nearly fell over more than once doing those bloody low lunges :o

AmazonGrace · 16/05/2015 08:52

Bags, keep at it, it will get easier. Even doing one session a day, honestly. When I first did my leg session my thighs killed me, they're now used to it.

Well done, keep coming back on here and sharing what you've done. It's a great motivator having others to share it with too.

velmadinkly · 16/05/2015 13:59

A bit late posting, but this morning I did, warm up, 2 x UF burner, tone and burn and some stretch. 8 weeks until my holiday and i'm hoping to get 4 - 5lb off. I've told DH to tell me off when I'm mindlessly snacking on an evening.

velmadinkly · 16/05/2015 14:02

shitebag as Amazon said, keep at it, you will very soon see the difference. Just make sure you do the stretch section to reduce the aching feeling.

shitebag · 16/05/2015 16:23

I'll definitely be keeping at it, just need to build on the momentum every week or so but the 10 minutes will do me for now.

I bought myself a pair of proper workout 3/4 joggers (size 16!) and a workout top (size 14!) today along with a yoga mat so I'm all set. I look like a pack of sausages but heyho I was an XXL man the last time I bought joggers Blush :o

I did the warm up and fat burner again today whilst DD napped, don't feel quite so jelly-ish.

AmazonGrace · 17/05/2015 17:37

Well done, Bags. It will get easier.

Warm up, ultimate legs & box fit done today. Feeling good.

velmadinkly · 18/05/2015 07:09

Just finished warm up, UF Burner, Fitness challenge, U abs and some stretch. I'm much more flexible around the hip/hamstring area.

shitebag · 18/05/2015 10:32

I'm such a numpty... I thought I'd got a dodgy DVD or something because I didn't have half of the workouts you've all been doing! Didn't notice the "next" button at the bottom of the screen Blush :o

I had to give my legs a break yesterday as the backs of my thighs and above my knees were absolutely killing me even to walk. Don't know if I'd done something wrong? I watched the tutorial as I found the lunges really awkward but I think I got it pretty close. Either that or I'm a total wuss!

Today I'm going to do Warm up, Tone & Sculpt and Total Stretch. Then I'll collapse in sweaty, painful heap I imagine :o

shitebag · 18/05/2015 20:19

Woo I did Warm up, tone & burn and the stretch thing and look, I'm still alive :o

AmazonGrace · 18/05/2015 23:05

Well done ladies!

Tonight I modified my workout as couldn't get access to the TV so did my warm up and then a selection of squats, lunges and box fit sessions, should have done more really but Mummy duties came a calling.

velmadinkly · 19/05/2015 08:45

No Davina for me today. I'm going swimming instead.

Well done shitebag in a week or two you should start to feel the small differences.

AmazonGrace · 19/05/2015 18:28

Warm up, ultimate legs and box fit all done! I really pushed with those squats today, managing to get really low now and I'm following Davina on the harder lunges.

Feeling fabulous darlings.

velmadinkly · 19/05/2015 19:10

I didn't get to swimming. I will be back exercising tomorrow.

shitebag · 19/05/2015 21:52

Warm up, Tone & Burn, Box fit and Stretch done along with day 1 of the plank challenge.

Absolutely loved box fit :o

I'm still wobbly on the squats Amazon!

velmadinkly · 20/05/2015 20:00

I didn't exercise this morning, so I did it at tea time.

I did, warm up, UF Burner, Fitness challenge, Tone and Burn, Advanced abs and some stretch.

shitebag you'll get better at the lunges, just don't try to over extend you lag back too much until you legs get stronger.

lalalonglegs · 20/05/2015 20:47

Warm up, fitness challenge and advanced abs.

I'm not doing it tomorrow though - I've got to carry 15 packs of tiles, each pack weighing 30kg, from the car up to the second floor, then four bags of 20kg tile cement. I'd like to see Ed deal with that lot Grin.

shitebag · 20/05/2015 21:33

Warm up, fat burner, box fit and total stretch done tonight.

Can't quite believe that 5 days ago I struggled with just the fat burner, so impressed with the workouts and myself :o

PeaceOfWildThings · 22/05/2015 10:54

Well done baggy! Grin Well done everyone!
I'm back into the fitness blender workouts (my alternative to Davina) as I feel it does make a positive difference to my mood and overall strength. Just dodid about 15 mins of weights/arms and cardio and a warm up and cool down. :)

velmadinkly · 23/05/2015 08:21

No exercise for me yesterday, but I did warm up, UF Burner, Fitness challenge, advanced abs and some stretch this morning.

I tried on a pair of trousers yesterday that I could get on at the start, but the were abit tight and I had a muffin top, they now go on fine with no muffin top. I'm chuffed to bits.

Keep going everyone!

AmazonGrace · 23/05/2015 09:42

Velma, that's bloody fantastic!

Warm up, box fit and fitness challenge done for a change today. I followed this with more squat/lunge combos. My bottom is definitely feeling perky. Just need to stop snacking in the evening now and get this body toned!

Well done all, glad this thread just keeps on going.
