Grab Your Tuna!

stevienickstophat · 18/03/2015 16:23

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Okay, warm up, fat burner, tone and burn and total stretch all done.

Feel better for that, after a tough day.

Happy new thread, everyone - see you in the morning!

Ledkr · 18/03/2015 21:21

I can toanyrhing for 7 mins.

LittleMissIntrovert · 18/03/2015 21:38

Argh I'm starting to feel the burn now, at least it's a sign it's doing something I suppose!

Moodykat · 18/03/2015 21:56

I did my yoga session and loved it. Can really recommend the yoga with adriene videos on YouTube. Did bedtime yoga tonight and feel so relaxed!

MrsMcGregor · 18/03/2015 22:20

Found you! Much better day for me today .... warm up, legs, tone and sculpt and box fit which was really refreshing. Did legs first and saw it through this time. Glum face gone!

Well done Stevie ... good effort after a few days off!

MrsMcGregor · 18/03/2015 22:21

Pete how is the Couch to 5k .... is it very taxing? What do you start off with?

Pantsalive · 18/03/2015 23:54

Phew, I've found you! I was worried I'd pushed you all off into Exercise, you'd filled the thread and I'd never find you again.

I'm just downloading Davina onto my iPad. Thanks for the reassurance on the small screen. Obviously too late to do anything now and I can't fit it in tomorrow morning but I'll keep you all posted. It may be the weekend. Wish me luck and thanks for the encouragement so far.

Ps any cheap sports bra recommendations? It looked as if Asda had a reasonable one but they were out of stock in black and only had neon. I'm not ready for that.

Moodykat · 19/03/2015 07:10

Bollocks. Woken up feeling shitty again so no Davina this morning!

PeaceOfWildThings · 19/03/2015 07:43

I have to remind myself when I take days off that it isn't a race! Grin

Moodykat could you share a link to the Adriane yoga on Youtube, please (if it isn't a bother)? Yoga classes are scary, but I'd like to see a video.

Moodykat · 19/03/2015 08:49

Peace - not a bother at all!

Here is the link to her channel. A group of us at work are doing the 30 days of yoga in our lunch break, up to day 6 now! At home I tend to just do the relaxation/bedtime sessions but they are lovely and I actually really like her!

Moodykat · 19/03/2015 08:50

I sometimes find actually posting the link does help.

Yoga with Adriene

velmadinkly · 19/03/2015 08:52

Hey I found you. I just knew the 'grab your tuna' was us!!!!

Well, my TOTM has slowed down to normal trickle levels and no longer Niagra levels, so I did Warm Up, Ultimate Fat burner, Tone and burn and Abs and some stretch this morning.

I certainly don't think I look any different, but I definately do feel different. My body just feels more loose and my moods are definately lifted. Even though I feel absolutely grotty when my TOTM is really heavy I didn't feel as bad this time round.

I must confess that I do wear a bona fide sports bra (32 G/GG Norks here) and I do have proper exercise leggings on, but they aren't flash and neon or anything. I don't wear trainers though and my hair is all stuck out from just getting out of bed and my face does look decidedly rough. I don't wear a top over my sports bra either, so my rolls are very much visible and I can easily see them jiggling in my chimney breast mirror when I'm moving around!

We have been the house of poorly so haven't managed anything for the last fortnight. Hope to do some later today.

bimandbam · 19/03/2015 09:01

Place marking until my dvd comes through.

Can I do it in a bfing bra, nightie and big pants if I shut the curtains? With a toddler hung off my leg instead of tuna?

LittleMissIntrovert · 19/03/2015 09:11

After my first day yesterday, I'm feeling it today at the tops of my legs and the underneath tops of my arms! Enough to feel I've done something, without it being painful if you know what I mean.

I'm going to do some of the legs ones tonight I think.

LittleMissIntrovert · 19/03/2015 09:11

bimandbam that's the beauty of doing it at home, you can wear whatever you like Grin

stevienickstophat · 19/03/2015 09:12

That sounds ideal, bimandbam Wink

Welcome!

Warm up and legs done this morning, think my thighs are feeling less sluggish if that makes sense.

I wear a sports top with support, cheap leggings and trainers. I wear my trainers as when I attempted the shred dvd last year my ankles hurt after doing the jumping jacks, the trainers have added cushion support for my ankles and balls of my feet, which is another area that hurt after shredding. As I'm focussing on my legs and there's a jump involved I wear them, I will wear them for all of the sessions though.

Sorry, gone all serious now we've joined t'other side.

As you were....

stevienickstophat · 19/03/2015 09:57

I think trainers are important, Amazon I wouldn't like to think of anyone getting injured.

Love the sound of the yoga sessions. I might have a look at the link. Thanks for posting that. Love yoga.

Pants I am sporting the Primark sports bra and it is very effective on the larger of norks.

Peace you freaked me out with your 'pyjamas of invisibility' as that's what DD calls them and I wondered if you were my neighbour? Grin

Today, I am mostly wearing;
Primark sports bra
Asda yoga pants (very comfortable)
West Midlands Fire Service TShirt (don't tell them)
Haven't found my trainers yet as somewhere upstairs hidden in renovation project. Need to find so I can put in orthotics (bloody uncomfortable)

I have managed warm up, abs, tone and burn and total stretch today.

patterkiller · 19/03/2015 11:58

Good grief, thought I'd lost you lot. I had a few minutes of cold sweat thinking that there wasn't a new thread. Then I found you all. Yay.
No Davina today so far but just had a mighty long dog walk and thinking of persuading DD1 to join me for Davina later today.

lalalonglegs · 19/03/2015 12:12

Oooh, can I join in? My Davina 7 Minute DVD arrived yesterday, just done the Fat Burner. I kind of enjoyed it, wasn't quite as tough as I thought it would be but thighs now a bit ache-y. Which is the hardest of the ten programmes?

PeaceOfWildThings · 19/03/2015 12:16

Grin My pajamas of invisibility are just pajamas that make me uninteresting to athletic types on the exercise boards. See? Nothing! Grin It's great. Left to wobble about anonymously to my heart's content.
