Grab Your Tuna!

This is a thread about reclaiming exercise for those of us who never felt it was for us, or who lost our confidence after childbirth or illness or injury, or just lost our way a little bit regarding looking after ourselves.

This thread is about realising that getting up off the sofa and moving about a bit can be enjoyable, can be done in our pyjamas and can be fitted into lives that are too often lived for the benefit of other people.

This is a thread about firming up our wobbly bits, strengthening our bones, making our joints flexible and lifting our moods, so that the rest of our lives are that little bit easier and more enjoyable.

So, grab your tuna, wrestle yourself into your sports bra and watch out for the Little Differences!

Wow! Everyone's doing so well! Bastard children had me up most of the night so that coupled with what I know is going to be a hideous day at work today I have slacked today!

velmadinkly · 05/05/2015 10:12

warm up, 2 x UF Burner and Ultimate Abs, with some stretch all done.

I really didn't want to get out bed this morning, but again, I told myself I could do the warm up and 1 session and then finish if I wanted to. However, I did more, which is good.

swimming for me today. I was in the pool for 7.15am! I just couldn't bear the idea of jumping around this morning.

My eating has gone a bit awry. By then evening I'm really hungry and I'm not eating anything really different during the day that what I was eating before.

BuzzardBird · 06/05/2015 10:08

After another long break due to my knee I have managed (barely) UFB and FB today, might do a T&S later if I can summon the energy. The first time I have really struggled.

lalalonglegs · 06/05/2015 17:01

Ultimate leg burner and Advanced Abs - hurrah for me!

BuzzardBird · 06/05/2015 17:54

There's an ultimate leg burner? I haven't even noticed as not doing the legs ones yet.

AmazonGrace · 06/05/2015 20:34

Hi all

Warm up, ultimate legs & box fit done!

My button is feeling more toned at the top, doesn't seem to wobble quite as much as it did.

AmazonGrace · 06/05/2015 20:35
  • bottom ffs!!
velmadinkly · 07/05/2015 06:43

Warm up, UF Burner, Fitness challenge, U Abs, some stretch all done and dusted.

It felt easier this morning.

DD was watching and she was laid on the settee and exclaimed, "I'm doing some dynamic sleeping" at the beginning of the stretch section. Grin

lalalonglegs · 07/05/2015 07:44

Buzzard - might have got the name wrong on that one but you're definitely, ahem, very aware you've done it by the end of the seven minutes Wink

BuzzardBird · 07/05/2015 13:19

I'm working from the top down lala hoping then that gravity will stop everything sliding to my bottom. Wink

PeaceOfWildThings · 07/05/2015 21:44

Finally managed a 25 min all-in workout today, after 5 days off and a few days of just a few minutes a day. Not sure what happened but going to get right back into it.

AmazonGrace · 09/05/2015 01:46

Warm up, legs, box fit done earlier. Feeling great!

velmadinkly · 11/05/2015 06:52

Warm up, fat burner, box fit, and 3/4 tone and burn done.

I didn't finish tone and burn and I didn't do any stretch because I started to feel really dizzy and really hot. I donated blood yeasterday so I don't know if that has any bearing on it? I ate well after donating and didn't exert myself so I'm not sure.

Anyway, I feel matally better for doing it and I will have another go tomorrow.

AmazonGrace · 12/05/2015 18:35

Hello all

Forgot to check in yesterday but I did do warm up, box fit & ultimate legs. Dp joined me for some of the ultimate legs but didn't finish because of his knee, he tells me his inner thighs are hurting today, this is from someone who uses weights regularly in the 'shed of dread'. Me, well no pain, just feeling more toned.

Just done warm up, box fit and 30 leg lunges, off to shower and get something to eat, it's been a busy day at work. Might get chance to start doing workouts again in the morning.

velmadinkly · 13/05/2015 06:59

Well done amazon

I didn't do anything yesterday I felt just a bit off and generally weak /unwell. I left work early and had an hours sleep, I then slept relatively ok last night with a 15 minute lie in, so I thought I'd have a go at something this morning.

I ended up doing warm up, box fit, fitness challenge and some stretch. Admittedly I wasn't as enthusiastic as I normally am, but at least i did something.

AmazonGrace · 13/05/2015 07:07

Good on you Velma for keeping the morning club going!

I've been slacking in the morning. Ds has this horrible tickly cough and for the past two weeks I've been up through the night with his inhaler so I'm bloody knackered, doesn't help that I'm going to bed at silly o'clock though!

Hope to do a session tonight.

YonicScrewdriver · 13/05/2015 07:17

Have not been on exercise bike for a few days but trying to walk to the office instead of getting the bus.

PeaceOfWildThings · 13/05/2015 20:04

Well done everyone! I have cut back a bit on the exercise because I am losing 2lb a week.in weight on average and now eating a lot more than I used to (healthy breakfast, lunch with a pudding and a good dinner). Not feeling quite as strong as Iwas either, but that could be because I've been through the wringer just lately!

Hope all going well with lurkers and infrequent visitors.

shitebag · 14/05/2015 09:37

Hi everyone, after finding this thread I decided to order the DVD and it arrived today! I'm blitzing the house today so won't get a chance to watch/do it until this evening but looking forward to it.

I'm 3 stone overweight just now and do a lot of walking but fitness levels are hardly sky high so would you advise just starting out with one section and building it up?

Strangely excited by the prospect of something new :o

PeaceOfWildThings · 14/05/2015 10:20

Yes baggy (hope you don't mind me calling you that!) starting with one section, getting all the timing and form right and keeping thatbup 6/7 days is a great way to start. Add a bit more as you feel like it. A little bit every day for months (years...the rest of your life, really) is the trick. A tiny adjustment is all it takes, repeated until it is a routine.

AmazonGrace · 14/05/2015 10:23

Hello all!

Just managed to do warm up, box fit and 40 leg lunges last night (20 on each leg) Legs are feeling great, less sluggish.

Shitebag (I'm sure your not Grin) I focussed on the sessions which dealt with my problem areas. I only started with one session and just built up from there really. Always start with the warm up and then see where it takes you. I wanted to tone my bum and thighs more initially so I focussed on the leg session, then a few weeks later added another session. Box fit is a great workout, one of my favourites, gets your heart racing. It's addictive once you start and having this thread to come back to is an extra incentive.

Enjoy!

AmazonGrace · 14/05/2015 10:24

*you're

AmazonGrace · 14/05/2015 10:26

And box fit tones shoulders, waist, bum and thighs. It's a great little all rounder.

velmadinkly · 15/05/2015 08:09

Welcome to shitebag. As the others have said, start with one section as well as the warmup and stretch and build yourself up from there. I don't do any of the specific leg sections because I cycle too and from work 4 days a week, so my legs get get a good enough workout already.

I had a break yesterday just to make sure I didn't over do myself with being grotty at the beginning of the week.

Today I did, warm up, fat burner, fitness challenge, abs and some stretch.

peace well done on the weight loss, I too wish I could lose 2lb per week, although ive only fot 2lb to go to take me back to a bmi of 25 and 6lb to get to my target weight. My eating is really good for a week or so then it goes abit awry. Its 8 weeks until my holiday and I'm really trying my best.

I've got some new exercise leggings from Tesco for £8 because my others fall down when I do the jogging bits, ive now got an exercise muffin top like I had 10 weeks or so ago when I started the dvd, but the difference is a size smaller leggings, so its not a bad thing. I don't know if im just destined to have some loose skin. I was very overweight in my twenties and lost 4 st, and then I was massive in my pregnancy, and lost the weight again, so I don't know if my 40 yr old skin just aint up to it anymore Confused.

Anyway, my leggings look all jazzy (patterned) and I feel much better for doing it, so even if I have some loose skin, at least I know I'm more flexible and physically fit and strong.
