Just saw the old thread was nearly full and didn't want us to run out Grin

A 5:15am class Shock

Lovely 4 miles from me although my back has stiffened as soon as I stopped, trying to stretch it now before I get in the shower. Dogs are knackered! Not looking good here for seeing the eclipse Sad

1067.46 but you didn't seem to add anything to the running total karatekimmi so perhaps should be 1070.56?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/03/2015 07:38

Bunting that is HARDCORE (and you are forgiven for driving to your class) Smile

cinnamon thetas nearly as hardcore as Bunting. Hope your back is better soon - could it be a sign things are starting?

kimmi I am also thinking of another marathon next year before I hit 50 a big birthday.

I have been looking at the calendar and am going to really struggle to get any organised HMs in - both DCs are leaving their (different) schools and almost ever spring/summer weekend has a sporting event/speech day/leavers' event. That's nice for us as a family, but not so good for my running target of 1000 miles this year - looks like I will be doing lots of Sunday HM distance runs on my own. I'll cross the 200 mile threshold for the year on my next outing, slightly behind schedule.

Unfortunately not OhOneOhTwoOhThree it's a sign that my divvy dog nearly snapped my back in half last Sunday I think!

Anglaise1 · 20/03/2015 08:42

Thanks so much for all your good luck messages everyone, they mean an awful lot Smile. Really pleased there are a few others here with a marathon on their to-do list - 2 at least for their 50th (like me...)
Good luck to everyone with races this weekend.
Will report back (hopefully) with my mileage after Sunday's race. Ciao!

HalleLouja · 20/03/2015 10:15

5 miles run yesterday though couldn't get a signal for first 2 miles. We ran up a big hill and it wasn't too bad..

I have a HM on Sunday so no parkrun tomorrow. I am tapering. Might go for a little swim later though.

1075.56 total miles I think.

PoppyShakespeare · 20/03/2015 10:36

buon viaggio e in bocca al lupo anglaise (and all racing this weekend)

5.83 from me, very happy to know at least milestone 1 (10k) is within reach

1075.56 - 5.83 = 1081.39

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 20/03/2015 10:52

5 miles this morning. Last run before half marathon on Sun.
Good luck to everyone else racing this weekend.
1086.39

emummy · 20/03/2015 11:14

Good luck Anglaise
Lovely mixed pace run this morning in the sunshine, so warm I wore t shirt & shorts! Went after eclipse, got a lovely view of it with binoculars onto paper

cinnamongreyhound · 20/03/2015 12:05

I'm quite sad about the eclipse, it got really dark here but the cloud cover was too great to see anything. Sky cleared around 11.30, typical!

stilllearnin · 20/03/2015 13:07

I am inspired to pack up work a bit early today (not yet unfortunately) and go for a quick run - couple of miles just to keep my hand in and my confidence up. Have so much on my plate it's like an all I can eat buffet!!

Good luck all - please return with race tales. Next weeks goal is to enter a 10k

Suzannewithaplan · 20/03/2015 13:54

9.68 from me
=1101.07

I started out quite fast (for me) but glute pain started in around the half way mark and slowed me down a little.
Even so my speed has kicked up a notch just lately so I'm optimistic about progressing on that front once I've seen the physio and dealt with the pain in the butt

Neeko · 20/03/2015 14:16

Stilllearnin - hope you are ok and your run helps.

Lots of big runs this weekend. Good luck everyone!

My town is really quite flat but this morning I ran up one of the few hills. My legs have been protesting all day! I'm sure muscle soreness is a good sign Smile

karatekimmi · 20/03/2015 18:10

Yes my long term plan is a marathon before I'm 40 (35 at the minute) but as we want/wanted more kids it was best to have a vague time frame

Thanks cinnamon for sorting out my maths probably shouldn't mention I'm a maths teacher hope your back is feeling better.

good luck to everyone racing and running this week

orangeflutie · 20/03/2015 18:57

I ran 4 miles today at lunchtime. Was lovely to wear short sleeves. I also have 2 and a half miles to add from Tuesday.

Good luck to the marathon runners at the weekend and hope the weather's kind to you.

familygermsareok · 20/03/2015 20:17

Just popped on to say good luck to Anglaise , Halle, CardiffUniNetballTeam and anyone else racing this weekend.

Fantastic eclipse pic emummy . I was desperate to see it but stuck inside at work. I did notice the sky outside go a lot darker, but not as dark as I expected. Have recorded Brian Cox's astronomy programme so off to watch it now.

Great to hear al the chat from everyone else. Awesome cake madthings Grin.

No run from me till tomorrow, can't wait for my parkrun Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/03/2015 20:46

A quick 3.8 miles after work this evening. I had some very happy news this afternoon and although the plan was to be slow and steady I bounced round a bit too fast and am now regretting it. I have also eaten a huge bar of chocolate to celebrate and am regretting that too at least it wasn't a bottle of wine. I will struggle at parkrun tomorrow, but it's not my usual one so anything below 30 mins will be a PB for that course.

5mad and cinners the Marriotts Way 10K email came today Smile

1101.07 + 4 + 2.5 + 3.8 = 1111.37 I think

Good luck to all the runners and racer this weekend, looking forward to reading your reports Smile

Goodluck to everyone racing this weekend.
No eclipse seen here it was foggy and misting plus I didn't really know it was on Grin

Happy Friday everyone

AggressiveBunting · 21/03/2015 07:40

adding 10.15ish so will round to 1121.5. Nice social run- 50/50 trail and traffic free tarmac. feel like I need to decide what to do next but enjoying a few weeks of wind down before I do.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/03/2015 10:33

parkrun to add from me, windy and wet this morning! 1124.6

runtothehills · 21/03/2015 13:44

14 miles, 1100 metre ascent hill run today with MM partner. Tried to keep off paths as much as possible, legs really feel it today. Amazing number of grouse and hares that even the dog was loosing interest by the end, almost stood on a few. Find out where in the Highlands our race is next week (they only give you 4 weeks notice so you don't recce it before hand). Getting nervous.

Well done aggressive on getting back out again after your epic race, think a few weeks of wind down sound like a good plan.

actiongirl1978 · 21/03/2015 14:13

Wow, runtothehills that sounds like some race you will be doing. In total awe of your 14 miles hill run. I can manage just over 11 miles, on flatish roads with the odd hill and I am wiped out. Good work!

ohone glad I had a positive impact on someone!

No running today, I am doing 12 miles tomorrow if it kills me (for some reason, mentally I have been unable to get over 11ish) I really want to run 13 before I HM in 4 weeks, so planning on 2x12 and 1x13, then a taper till the run.

MrsWahlberg · 21/03/2015 17:39

1136.6 with runtothehills 14 miles and I've just done. 3.65 miles so that makes 1140.25.

Made a rookie mistake and ran in new trainers so ended up with mega blistered at mile 2.5 so did the lat mile home was gutted as wanted to get a 5 miler in today but just couldn't stand the pain any longer! My own fault though! Love and learn!
Thank you all for your comments and warm welcome to this thread too!

familygermsareok · 21/03/2015 18:11

Parkrun today, and it was such a lovely sunny day when I got back home I decided to go for another run. Just my basic circuit but boy did I notice the difference in my achy protesting legs! I never think parkrun has taken that much out of me because it is much shorter than my usual runs, but I didn't consider that it is also much faster! Confused.

Your hill race sounds amazing runtothehills, I have race envy Wink. Not that I would be able to do that distance, but I love the sound of it.

actiongirl I am like you. I like to have the psychological security that I can run 13 miles before a hm. I find that once I've done 10 the extra miles are not difficult to add as long as my pace is comfortable, I don't really notice much of a difference in effort/tiredness now between 10 to 13 if I'm going quite slowly. I do flake a bit at that stage in a race though, if I've set off too fast!

Belated welcome MrsW. Hope the blisters better soon.

3.1 parkrun + 4.8 = 7.9 to add

1148.15

Kikibee · 21/03/2015 19:00

Hiya dashing in to add my 3.1 parkrun from this morning, lovely to run in sunshine, makes such a difference Smile

1151.25

phlebasconsidered · 21/03/2015 19:20

Just completed my first ten k, took me 70 minutes at my proposed hm pace. Now for a hot bath and glass of wine. I shall start counting my miles too, my total for this week, sat to sat, is 18.
