Anyone watching channel 5? After 130km in the Amazon they are now doing te last stage which is 92km, these people are absolutely mad!

IKYTWTLYA · 16/01/2015 20:06

Just back from my little 2.2 - it's funny how this C25K think keeps you at your edge (or it does me). Last week running for 1:30 was almost too much. And today running for 3:00 is almost too much. I can't imagine coping with the next step.

Oh, and it was a bit icy, but another runner said "good evening" as he passed! I felt special!

So 1320.9

AggressiveBunting · 17/01/2015 04:46

Adding 18 miles from me this morning = 1338.9. Went pretty well- was the first part of my upcoming 50k race (which is actually only a 44k race because the government measurements are wrong) and then I race walked out of it up a mahoosive hill. Felt like my pacing was good but I could have done with a bit more in the tank- next week I'm going to experiment with starting the Shotbloks earlier, so 2 after every 7k rather than waiting till the 20k point. You know you're screwed it up when you'd kill an old lady for a can of coke.

holmessweetholmes · 17/01/2015 07:09

Wow, AggressiveBunting! The thought of running 50k... I'm in awe.

Tiredemma · 17/01/2015 07:38

I need to get out and run today. Its like an itch.

Not been out because of weather and other commitments since Tuesday.
The dog is looking longingly at me (I take her with me)

Sirzy · 17/01/2015 07:52

My 2.2 miles seems pretty rubbish in comparison but 1341.1

Anglaise1 · 17/01/2015 08:34

Aggressive I think trail races are often mismeasured. The championship Brittany one (officially measured) I did last year was supposed to be 39kms, we reached 39kms - according to all our GPS watches - with no finish in sight or sound. We had to carry on for an extra 3kms to get to the finish line. When you psych yourself up that there are only x numbers to go, moderate your water supply accordingly and then have to go on and on without knowing where the finish is, it is hard!

EdithDickie · 17/01/2015 09:49

WOW Aggressive that's awesome!

Now feeling a little lame to report in 2.88 miles from my lunchtime run with workmate yesterday. It was soooooo hilly and it hailed. Horrible at the time but felt good after. And I managed 10:38 pace Grin anything under 11 is awesome for me so feeling great.

EdithDickie · 17/01/2015 09:50

1343.98

cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2015 12:17

I was RD at parkrun today so no running for me but I'm going tomorrow. A chilly one here with a little bit of snow at 8.45 but all gone now.

beanandspud · 17/01/2015 12:22

Adding 3.2 miles here. Ran on the treadmill though. I do seem to have a mental block when it comes to running outside and besides I managed to watch Saturday Kitchen in peace

I keep telling myself that once I can comfortably plod 3 miles or 40 mins on the treadmill I will venture out but I think I need a hard shove.

1347.18

TheSkinnyProject · 17/01/2015 13:20

3.45 from me this morning over icy pavements and frozen fields.

1350.63

5madthings · 17/01/2015 13:22

Plus 4.3 from me 1351.48 cold out here today, keeps trying to snow but lovely and bright. Bit breezy but great weather for running.

Wow at 5km running! I am slightly freaked at the thought of 21km for the half marathon, have previously only done 10km.

Don't you get bored running for that length of time? I am quite happy running for an hour, hour and a half but not sure how I will get on after that. Week two of bupa training done and i feel Ok.

HesterShaw · 17/01/2015 13:41

18 miles?! Well done Aggressive!

A paltry 1.6 miles in comparison through some lovely icy muddy puddles

1353.08

5madthings · 17/01/2015 13:45

That, should say wow at 50km running!

And hester it's not paltry, you got up and out and went for a run, every bit counts!

HesterShaw · 17/01/2015 13:47

2 miles tomorrow! That is my vow.

There are some real inspirations on this thread. Thank you.

Checking in with a crunchy-underfoot parkrun anniversary

3.1

Makes 1356.2

Suzannewithaplan · 17/01/2015 15:40

9.80 from me, all in heavy rain
1366

5madthings · 17/01/2015 15:56

Does anone here where compression running socks? I just have karrimor running trainer socks, they are great, comfy and seem fine. My sister has just told me about compression socks, having googled there is mixed views, they help prevent lactic build up.. Or reduce muscle fatigue or shin splints. But lots saying it's all psychological etc. Anyway I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

Sorelip · 17/01/2015 16:31

3.1 from me, making 1369.1.

louwn · 17/01/2015 16:49

Did 4 miles this morning at just under my target HM pace (did 8:57 mile, need to be under 9:09 to break the 2 hour barrier that I am desperate to do!). 8 mile slow run tomorrow as have actually got another HM in 3 weeks time - though don't have a target for that one as is off road and I will have done only 4 weeks training!

emummy · 17/01/2015 18:02

5madthings I have calf sleeves, wasn't sure how comfy full socks would be. I have worn them after running and also during long runs. I did notice a difference in how sore and tired my calves felt and intend to wear them during all long runs now. It may be psychological, but they do feel nice!

clary · 17/01/2015 18:55

A brilliant-feeling 5.25m from me as evening fell today, a beautiful cold bright evening, taking us to 1374.35
