Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

Another 5k ran to make 216.6. Well done Eau fingers crossed it keeps getting better.

BetsyBell · 09/09/2014 10:59

I did my first 10k on Saturday (10.34 in fact)! I certainly wasn't breaking any records for speed but it didn't break me and I felt I could have gone on for another couple of k or so Shock Grin

So +6.4miles

223.0

MirandaWest · 09/09/2014 11:07

Hello - can I join Smile

I seem to be serial couch to 5k runner - I do couch to 5k and do 5k regularly and then things happen and I stop.

My bf and I are going to America in a couple of weeks time and he has nice visions of us going running in Central Park so I went running this morning. Was week 2 of c25k although I ran through a couple of walks so did do a couple of 5 min runs as well as 90 second runs.

Total distance was 2.3 miles although that included warm up and some walks in between runs so not sure it should get counted in the running total here Grin

feetheart · 09/09/2014 11:38

4.6 miles post WOLF run with running club last night - still on far too much of a high from Sunday and not doing the sensible thing and resting. Would have been rude not to show off my Wolf t-shirt :)

Total 227.6

emummy · 09/09/2014 11:39

10k from me this morning, one of those runs you just have to grit your teeth and get through!Had intervals in it so pleased I kept going. So with Miranda's I think that makes 231.5. I think we can include yours MirandaWest, even those doing long runs might have a wee walk in the middle sometimes! like after intervals for instance!

Blatherskite · 09/09/2014 12:27

All runs count Miranda If you went out and did it then you beat everyone on the couch and your miles count.

After my brilliant run last night, I really hated today's run. 6 miles done but lots of bits of me ache and I think I need a rest now. I walked up a couple of hills as I really can't afford to break myself this close to the half marathon! Not due out again until tomorrow night to do 1.5 mile speed endurance repeats - does that count as resting? I'll have had more than 24 hours off after all Wink I do have a massage booked in the meantime which might help as a friend is training and I'm going to be her guinea pig :)

237.5

Morrigu · 09/09/2014 13:28

Hi Miranda totally counts. I counted my walks in between the runs when doing c25k too. I actually sadly kept a diary of the times and distances and it was encouraging to see the distance increasing as you run more.

Taper week so gentle 30mins for me. My calf/inside shin, can't tell which, has been giving me jip the last week or so and I really felt it today. Boo :( I'll cry if I injure myself this close. Can vaguely remember hitting something off it I think accident prone me a couple of weeks ago so hoping it's just a bruised shin bone. Sitting with an ice pack on and will neck a couple of ibuprofen once I get lunch.

Massage sounds lovely Blathers, enjoy.

3.3+237.5 is 240.8

EdithDickie · 09/09/2014 13:35

Ouch morrigu hope that you are okay.

Blathers I feel exhausted (and inspired) reading that!

Planning to go out tonight so will see how I get on and report back.

I can't get rid of those winks... Sorry!

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 09/09/2014 13:43

Hi all, newbie here. Not new to running but I gave up a year or so ago just after completing my 10k. Really want to join a running thread so I can get my mojo back. Is everyone adding their total miles to make up a target? Sorry- I skimmed through and can't see the starting point.

Going out to run now. Hope to add a measly few miles upon return.

Blatherskite · 09/09/2014 13:50

Oh if only Morrigu! She's training to do sports massage so really, if it's not totally agony at some point during the session, she's doing it wrong :)

I've only ever had sports massages, never a gentle, relaxing one. Maybe I should book myself one sometime soon? My first reaction when people tell me that they're going for a massage is to wince!

Speed repeats will have to be missed unless my knee makes a miraculous recovery in the next 24 hours. It's really achey right now Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 09/09/2014 14:21

No that doesn't count Blatherskite, take care! Will you at least one rest day? Just read your next post, hope your knee is ok but perhaps it's trying to tell you something.

Hi MirandaWest and TheDietStartsTomorrow! Originally we had a target but the last few months we haven't set one just added them up :)

I have company for my run tonight, yay!

TheDietStartsTomorrow · 09/09/2014 14:39

Just done a 5k in 28.52 mins. That's my starting point. Will try and beat that by a few seconds each week.

Morrigu, I just read that you did what I'm doing now and called it sad. Blush Ah, come on...we all have to start somewhere. ;) You all sound like experienced runners so I'm hoping a little of it will brush off onto me.

I am, my own biggest inspiration. If I can beat myself then that's what inspires me to move the posts a little further each time.

ThursdayLast · 09/09/2014 15:59

diet that's a really really really good time to be starting with! Well done!
I had good intentions of going out for a run this arvo, but it feels seriously hot here today. I think I might do a home workout instead later this evening or something.

Morrigu · 09/09/2014 16:23

That's a fantastic time diet well done. Grin but do you put precise times, precise routes, how it went etc etc. I still have my notebook and love to look back on it tbh as I only started running in Feb so it's nice to see how far you can come along.

You're not inspiring me full of confidence Blathers as I have a sports massage booked for a couple of weeks time myself. My first. I'm gonna feel pain aren't I? Hope the knee recovers quickly.

Spoke to my dad today. They've been away so didn't know if I was going ahead with the hm or not. His reply was 'sure that's easy, it's not a big distance' Shock Yeah maybe not to a multi-marathon man but it bleeding well is to me Angry.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 09/09/2014 21:29

Running club tonight was hill sprints. I now ache Grin. Sorry, I'm too exhausted to add on everyone else's recent run distances but adding mine onto Morrigu's brings us to 245.6.

cinnamongreyhound · 09/09/2014 22:05

:-P to your dad Morrigu! My mum came to my first hm and cried her eyes out!!!

Chilly start but warm here in the day too ThursdayLast.

4 miles from me, averaged 9.37 which is my quickest for ages!! 249.6

Morrigu · 10/09/2014 08:20

Aww that's lovely cinnamon. Dad's not a bad spud but can be infuriating when it comes to fitness. Just because he's always been super fit and still going strong at 60+, he thinks it comes easily to everyone. Mum gets it though.

Leg still sore. Ibuprofen works but can feel it when it wears off. Rest today and see how it goes tomorrow.

ThursdayLast · 10/09/2014 09:23

I didn't manage to get out yesterday, so I made myself get up and out first thing this morning.
Was glorious.
So 5 miles from me makes 254.6

Blatherskite · 10/09/2014 09:49

My knee feels fine today but I'm sort of aware that if I went for a run, it probably wouldn't be IYSWIM? Like it's on the edge. Will see how I feel after the massage but I think I might rest it tonight instead of going to club.

Morrigu sports massages are funny things. I'd love to tell you it's all hot stones, pan pipes and happy sighs but usually, there's a least one point in every sports massage I've had that's had me yelping. In fact, I often joke that my usual physio just waits until he finds a bit that makes me wince and then goes for it on that spot. I always walk out feeling a million times better though and within in hour or so, I feel energised and ready to go. The painful bits are usually him breaking down scar tissue in my muscles that would otherwise feel knotty and sore when I run or him stretching out tight muscles and ligaments that make me feel stiff and ruin my gait. All my best runs have happened a day or two after a sports massage. I'm sure you'll be fine and I'm sure you'll feel loads better afterwards. Good luck

MirandaWest · 10/09/2014 10:08

Went out again this morning - decided to try week 4 and managed it all right (so only 16 minutes of actual running but all my walking was quite fast Smile)

Did 2.9 miles so we're up to 257.5

standingonlego · 10/09/2014 19:05

I did my first post WOLF run this morning too...a lovely just over 3 miler in the early morning mist around the lakes - it was nice and scenic - all dew covered cobwebs and stuff. My left knee and right hip are a bit achy though...inspired by blathers I have a sports massage tonight now too

So the early start takes us to 260.5 Welcome diet and hello to everyone else - only half way through the week and lots of fab running already :)

standingonlego · 10/09/2014 19:06

Hello to Miranda too - delighted to have you with us :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/09/2014 19:39

I am a lapsed runner, but have 3.1 from lego's 50th parkrun and 6.2 WOLF miles to offer - 269.8?

Dinocroc · 10/09/2014 21:36

Just did a little 5k round the block. Putting the eight week plan on the fridge makes me feel guilty when I skip one (like on Monday say). I look like a tomato but the nights are drawing in and are very flattering. Well done all. WOLF run sounds fun Smile

Sirzy · 10/09/2014 21:41

5k from me
