Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

328.9

Hello everyone and welcome to all the newbies. Sorry to hear about so many injuries, I hope you are all on the mend.

I can add on 17.5 miles from this week, including an 8mile slow run this morning which was just lovely, even if my legs do ache like buggery now!
I have got Windsor women's 10K in two weeks time and I'm looking forward to it, I feel strong and well-prepared.
Guggenheim, I run on pavements and through parks and along the river. I'm trying out some new routes at the moment, trying to find something both safe and enjoyable for in the darker evenings.

New running total is 346.4.

originalpiratematerial · 13/09/2014 18:25

348.6 with my 2.2 miles just now. Was just getting into my stride and would love to have gone further but had promised to be back to help with bath time for DS3, severely autistic.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/09/2014 09:31

3.1 from me yesterday for my parkrun, which was my 50th and ended up being last over the line as we took a girl who'd fallen back to her mum. Got to go today as I'm really stressing about next weekend! I enjoy it once I'm out but so don't want to go which isn't like me at all :(

349.5

Hello again, commiserations to all the injured ones. I have done more runs this week but seem to be going slower?! 5k wed 7k sat and 12k this morning. .? 14 miles.guggenhein I run roads late at night. Work full time so it's the only option, I see a few other runners about and it doesn't feel too scary. If it's very late can do blocks around my house ( bit dull ). Take a phone...

353.5

guggenheim · 14/09/2014 13:52

Thank you.
Dinocroc I wanted to ask how people felt about running on your own late at night but didn't want to give the wrong impression. I've already had the local flasher experience (yawn). good I'm going to woman up and just get running - bugger the dogs/flashers/dark Smile

Dinocroc · 14/09/2014 15:57

Good! I see other runners, people walking dogs, people heading back from work late , foxes aplenty and a dead squirrel the other night. I also run with headphones in and am in my own world so may have missed the flashers.there is a nice cat I have a chat to on my road when I am nearly home. I sound like a crazy lady. Maniacs are probably scared of me Grin

originalpiratematerial · 14/09/2014 16:17

357.2 with my 3.7 miles this morning. I need to build up my distance again but preferably without getting injured this time I hope! So I'm going to extend my long run very gradually by about 0.5 mile or so each week, with the aim of getting back up to six miles, then get to the point where six miles is comfortable, and then think about HM training again.

Am loving running again atm though, just gorgeous.

HalleLouja · 14/09/2014 18:44

8.2 miles from this weekend (parkrun and run with a friend I bumped into). So that takes us to 365.4 miles. Lovely run down the old railway line today. I even sprint finished the hill.

postmanpatscat · 14/09/2014 20:26

I did 5k on Thurs night and 8.2k yesterday so I think that's roughly 8.2 miles which makes 373.6 altogether. Meant to do a long run this weekend (now only 4 weeks til HM) but having had the decorators in last week the house was covered in dust and we had to deal with it.

EdithDickie · 14/09/2014 20:50

2.5 miles for me tonight, so I think that makes 376.1

MirandaWest · 15/09/2014 10:19

I ran for 20 min without stopping Grin
Will still include my total distance covered with the walks at the beginning and end so that was 3.3 miles bringing the total to 379.4

emummy · 15/09/2014 11:06

Well done MirandaWest!
5.6 miles from me today, intervals, lovely, so that's 385. Started pouring with rain halfway round so I got completely soaked. Feeling much better after a hot shower and coffee!

emummy · 15/09/2014 11:10

And race number for Inverness has arrived, very excited!

standingonlego · 15/09/2014 12:15

Due to some unexpectably well timed childcare I am off to running club tonight - very excited. Only my 2nd time, went with a friend once over 6 months ago

Trying to cram FAR too much into one DC and DH free evening :)

BlueChampagne · 15/09/2014 12:24

I did 20 miles last week so that's us up to 405 now.

feetheart · 15/09/2014 16:58

Nothing from me since last Monday as was struck down with a cold/cough. Mostly better now so am hoping to go to running club tonight.

Having had a ball at the WOLF run with a pack of Mnetters I have found The Winter Run. Apparently there will be polar bears :o
It isn't cheap but, as someone has already pointed out, it is a lot of the London sights without the 26.2 miles! We have interest from 6 of the Wolfrun thread so far but the more the merrier. Who fancies it?

ThursdayLast · 15/09/2014 21:56

Make that 410
Only supposed to be 3 miles plus a few sprints but my runkeeper went beserk and told me I'd done 2.25 miles in 9 mins Hmm
So I restarted. I'd already run a mile.

Determined to get more miles under my belt this week.

ThursdayLast · 15/09/2014 21:58

feet that looks like a brilliant run!
Too far away for me though.

standingonlego · 15/09/2014 23:38

A short fast 2 miler from me taking us to 412 - a little run is better than no run :)

MirandaWest · 16/09/2014 12:49

Have just volunteered (and been accepted) to run as part of a relay in the marathon happening here in October. The legs range from 3 miles to 6 miles - am hoping I get allocated a shorter rather than longer one Smile

IrianofWay · 16/09/2014 13:03

Hello

been on and off various threads her over the years. Been running for about 9 years but recentrly have only been doing about 5k. Went along to a club run last week - did 5 k again but way faster than normal! Was so pleased to be able to keep up. Now i am timing myself to try and keep the speeds up when I run on my own.

Managed just under 5 miles (with lots of bloody hills!) at the weekend.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 13:09

Sounds fab feetheart! I will be 32 weeks pregnant by then if everything goes ok so a 10k may be a push to far Wink

Well done mirandaWest!! If you're doing the c25k podcast I will warn you a lot of us on the thread I was on back in 2012 found w6r1 a toughie.

I'm running tonight with both my doggies now the little one is no longer on lead only exercise, yay!

MirandaWest · 16/09/2014 13:25

I was probably on that thread then cinnamon BlushGrin - I am a yo yo runner. I've done the c25k quite a few times and do remember w6r1 being tricky - I think it's because it's after the 20 min run and you think it should be easy now...

Will do it tomorrow and am going to need to keep running a bit further for the next few weeks. I know I can do it (think 2012 was my fastest running year - got up to doing 5k in under 28 min) but don't think I'll be that quick again.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/09/2014 13:40

I thought I recognised your name Grin

MirandaWest · 16/09/2014 13:41

Found the thread when I did my 2012 running - showed me that little and often is the way to go. My best 5k time was 27 min 30 or so - would love to manage that again...
