Okay, it's not just 30 Day Shred anymore but if you would like to log your daily JM fix and get some tips and tricks from fellow Shredders, step this way.

I'm waiting to see what I'm like after 2 weeks all inclusive lazing before committing to anything! :o

I feel fitter but I'm disappointed in the visible results TBH. Still, I know I'm fitter and stronger so I'm kind of pleased. Hopefully I now have some core muscles to hold my spine in place too!

Spotsondots · 22/07/2014 22:44

L1 D2 complete! Phew! Well done everyone, it's not easy in this heat is it? I nearly wussed out this evening but had a stern talk to myself! Glad I didn't skip it (though when I can barely lift my DS out his cot tomorrow I may think differently - my arms and chest certainly know about it!)

Shadows that's great news about your separation, and gives me hope that I won't wreck my abdomen forever as long as I do my transverse exercises. Grin

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 22/07/2014 23:10

There's been mention of curry, baileys and banoffee pie for our holiday Owl, so i may undo all the weight loss in one week! I don't think going back to running is going to be as doable or as challenging as this, I think I need to keep doing her DVDs. I'm also still hopeful that the long term goal is the one to go for, and that in a few years I'll be able to look at photos of me now and photos of me then (in a few years) and notice a significant difference.

Thank you Spots. Those transverse exercises are definitely the key. And they're actually worth a fair bit of money ... The ones I've posted over the past few threads are from MuTu and Tupler Technique, both of which are diastasis healing programmes released in DVD and online form. Both of these cost around £50 if you purchase the basic package. The exercises aren't online anywhere. I borrowed from friends DVDs and have been combining the two techniques to heal my diastasis and also sharing them on here Grin

Spotsondots · 22/07/2014 23:41

Yes, Shadows, this is the first place I've managed to find any sensible information about what to do about it. Previous google searches have yielded links to the Tupler and MuTu packages but no actual answers, so I am extremely grateful for your expert insider knowledge! Wink

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 22/07/2014 23:53

Maybe I should be charging ... Grin

In all seriousness I think it's shocking that a condition that so common in women who've given birth, and which can lead to hernias and a lot of pain, back problems etc if left untreated, is pretty much ignored by medical sites. The exercises that make a real difference in a very short space of time are currently ones you have to pay for and I think it appalling. So I shall be sharing far and wide over MN.

Also, did you know that the transverse muscle is linked to your pelvic floor? So when you contract it your pelvic floor should contract as well. Using the exercises on MuTu, people have actually seen more improvement in their pelvic floor than from doing conventional PF exercises. So WHY does no one know about this? It's not on IMO.

OwlCapone · 23/07/2014 05:51

I was going to say that it's disgraceful the exercises aren't readily available. I watched the video but I don't know if I had/have any separation - I can't feel any but I'm not sure I can feel what's meant to be there if it's normal.

OwlCapone · 23/07/2014 05:54

I'm going to have to switch to running on holiday simply because I'll have no weights. It's the easiest thing to do. I can probably add in some of the strength and ab moves too. DS2 (13) is, initially, keep,to run whilst we are out there too. He's fast, I have longer legs. We will see how it goes!!

Chococroc · 23/07/2014 07:08

30DS, L3 Day 6 just done. Because of work I had to do yesterday's in the evening, meaning my morning one today was only really about 10 hours later, it was hard!
Only 4 more to go til I've done the 30 days, really pleased I've managed to stick with it!

ImogenQuy · 23/07/2014 07:14

RI30 L3D3. Shadows, congratulations on fixing your separation!

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 23/07/2014 07:32

Owl, when you feel for diastasis - as ypu lift head press right down with your fingers. You should either be able to feel a hard wall of muscle under your fingers which means no separation or hard bits of muscle either side of your fingers. If you push right down and it's just soft try adding more fingers and see if you feel muscle then. If that doesn't work I can only conclude that I don't know Grin. Good luck for the running with your DS, how old is he? Are we talking lanky preteen here or 21yo sprinter??

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 23/07/2014 07:37

Congrats on nearly finishing choco and thanks Imogen Grin

Oh ffs, I see you already said how old DS is, sorry owl Im half asleep and causally read it as your thirteenth son and didn't even register that as unlikely Grin

OwlCapone · 23/07/2014 07:56

I've watched the earlier video about how to check and I don't think there is a separation. I do suffer from that "6 months pregnant" bulgy look though and, with my back issues, I know my core muscles aren't doing their job.

flowerpowergirl · 23/07/2014 08:32

L1 D5 done plus an hour and half walk on the Great Wall (we live in China) with our visitors. It was all uphill and very steep (ok not all uphill as obv downhill on way back but still hard work. Am now exhausted but pleased with myself.

Itsfab · 23/07/2014 08:45

I didn't take any measurements before I started shredding but I know roughly what I was as I measured myself a couple of weeks ago. Bloody hell. Minimum of 4 cm off my tummy Shock. How can that be right? No weight off since starting but 2-3lbs down from my recent largest and my period has started today.

Just about to take the kids shopping to get DD's birthday present and then to the park. DS1 and DD don't seem overly thrilled. Tough. If I told DS1 we were going shopping first he would be very cross.

I think I had a hernia after DC3 but I definitely know my stomach muscles had separated but no idea the state they are now.

OwlCapone · 23/07/2014 09:23

an hour and half walk on the Great Wall

Well, that puts my walk to school in suburbia well and truly in the shade :o

yadahyadah · 23/07/2014 09:36

Body revolution phase 1 week 4 workout 4 done. Been away camping lots of activity but felt the lack of my daily fix. That said needed a bit of a push to get it done this morning. shadows your posts on diastisis have been great. I think you should consider setting up a dedicated thread so people can pool their hard won resources. Maybe it might prompt MNHQ to start a campaign on the issue. Lord knows we women need all the help we can get. I believe in France postnatal abdominal health is a normal part of every pregnancy.

Hmm that's quite a good idea Yadah, where would I put it? General health maybe or does it need to go somewhere more visible?

tabulahrasa · 23/07/2014 13:34

30DS2D3

Took me hours to work up to doing it today...I suppose that's what happens if you take too many days off, lol

tabulahrasa · 23/07/2014 13:34

30DSL2D3 that should have said

macnab · 23/07/2014 15:52

Hi everyone, well I went back to it after a good few days off, my shin seems to be ok now so must have needed that rest.

So yesterday evening I did day 2 of Level 3. I am finding it so hard, and I don't think its because I had a few days off. The superman move is impossible, I think you'd need a zoom lens and pause button to see if I'm actually lifting my body at all. I'm trying! The other move I'm really struggling with is the one where you plank but hold onto your weights and then lift a weight and then lift a leg? The exercise itself is ok, but its just so uncomfortable it actually hurts my hands after a minute or so. Maybe the handles on Jillian's weights are padded?? Oh and those jumping squats and rock star jumps at the very end just kill me.

So yes other than like half the exercises its fine Grin

Diet totally gone to pot and really why? I go on hols this weekend, you'd think I'd be at the height of it with my bikini calling but its like I'm on a mission to sabotage myself! Eating a lot of junk (that time of month didn't help either) and not drinking enough water this past few days.

But at least I'm back shredding and my leg seems ok again for now.

Keep up the good work people, its very inspiring to hear how you're all sticking at it.

macnab · 23/07/2014 15:54

Oh and the HEAT. Yes, we should definitely get extra kudos for doing it in the heat. I'm just a big damp exhausted mess this past week!

Itsfab · 23/07/2014 16:05

Day 6 of level 1 done.

I feel like I am talking to myself but I will post anyway.

Did really well today though still one movement I struggle with. Pleased I am sticking with it and hopeful I am doing it right!

OwlCapone · 23/07/2014 17:49

I prefer to think of the Superman as the Floundering Fish.

tabulahrasa · 23/07/2014 18:08

macnab - I found the balancing on my weights nearly impossible, I just did a normal plank with the weights beside me and then picked them up each time...I eventually managed to balance on them before I finished it.

(tries to work out if it would be funnier to answer Itsfab or ignore her) Grin

OwlCapone · 23/07/2014 18:18

I liked that balance on the weights move but yes, it was really painful on my hands! I thought it was just my weight.
