Ooh, cinnamon, I know you're right that it'd be a waste of fitness to not keep it up.

I did it in 2hrs7 so I felt happy with what I achieved. I just find whenever I race I don't enjoy it - whether that's a 5k or a 10k and now the same with a HM. I thought with a HM I might be able to ease more into enjoying the running, but it was basically just 2 hours of putting horrible pressure on myself to get round, even though I already knew I could as had already run the distance in training! Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 12:48

Yep, sounds like racing to me! Lucky you get a shiny medal at the end Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 12:51

I really hate 5k btw but I enjoy 10k more than anything else but it's still tough most of the way round. The worst I find is races you done before so you have a time to beat! That's also why I love parkrun because if I'm not in the mood for pushing myself I can pootle and still enjoy it and not feel pressure to do anything other than take part and have a chat at the end :)

Blatherskite · 01/09/2014 16:46

Saturday was my 3rd HM and only the 4th time I've done the distance as I've only got that far once in training and it was the first one I enjoyed. I can honestly say that I hated HMs 1 and 2 and was convinced that the distance was just too far for me and that anything over 10 miles was just sheer pain and I was never doing another.

Despite pushing hard on Saturday, my improved training meant that while the last 2 miles were hard this time, I was still enjoying it and I think the fact that I ran with two friends and spent the first 10 miles chatting as we ran really helped. I'm definitely converted now :)

Evening all, just checking in to say I varied one of my routes a bit today and it ended up being about a mile and a half longer than I anticipated OOPS.
Ah well, it was a sunny evening so it was quite pleasant really.

Hang on, it's September - what the new count up??

I did 5.5 miles in approx 50 mins but please please please don't say I have to do blummin' time adding up again.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 20:27

I'm happy with miles if everyone else is?

I have 5.5 to add too ThursdayLast, although mine was in 1:02 with stops as we were doggy running :)

ThursdayLast · 01/09/2014 21:15

I sped up because this new route takes me right through a neighbouring village - I don't really like to see people when I'm running.

postmanpatscat · 01/09/2014 21:23

What's this wet stuff falling out of the sky? There was none of that in Dubai!

Had to go to the gym as I couldn't face getting wet, ran 6 miles so if we're still counting them that 17 miles so far this month.

moonlit are you doing Royal Parks?

standingonlego · 01/09/2014 21:23

A new month - hooray and we are still counting in miles. Nothing to report today but hope to be back with something later this week :)

cinnamongreyhound · 02/09/2014 07:57

My legs ache!!! I wonder if it's because I've done the same distance in the last 3 days as I had done in a fortnight before? Planning on going again tomorrow evening as I just can't manage mornings at the moment and hope they are a bit better by then!

HalleLouja · 02/09/2014 08:44

5.1 miles yesterday 22.1 miles in total.

Ran much faster yesterday. Not sure if its because my run last week at running club has helped.... Am thinking running club is making me push myself more. That and ParkRun....

EauRouge · 02/09/2014 09:37

2.6 miles for me this morning, so that's 24.7 in total. I am sooooo slooooow Grin

Morrigu · 02/09/2014 09:38

We haven't had any rain postmanspatcat. That makes me sad as I love running in the rain.

I hate people seeing me out too Thursday. I've had a few people say they've seen me out running and it makes me a bit embarrassed.

Thinking ahead it's a good excuse now the days are drawing in to get some more new winter gear. Any recommendations for long sleeve tops as I strangely only have the one? Do you wear base layers at all? I have one but remember last year getting too sweaty in it, maybe as it was a cheapy from sports direct.

Going to try and get out later but very glad to see it's still miles as that's what my Garmin is set for Grin and I'm lazy.

Nearly time for a new thread an all.

HalleLouja · 02/09/2014 09:44

I went running in the drizzle yesterday and enjoyed it.

It didn't get worse than a drizzle though.

ThursdayLast · 02/09/2014 09:55

It's so strange isn't it Morrigu! I'm not bothered about parkrun, or races, or even people driving past me on the back roads but a village (an uphill village at that) had me looking at the floor and racing through!

Don't know if I'll get out today, it's DPs turn for exercise this eve

feetheart · 02/09/2014 10:22

Lovely bright evening with superb sunset over the airport after a yucky damp day yesterday.
Did 4.9 miles with running club - two of us went ahead (too busy chatting!), got rather lost and had to head back over playing fields in the dark - oops!
Did get to go UP a killer hill that I always run down. Need to try it again on my own as stopped part way up as my running partner had had enough. Probably couldn't have got to the top on my own but want to see how far I can get.

29.6

emummy · 02/09/2014 11:15

Beautiful run today along the Deeside Way, lovely sunshine! Did easy run with intervals, yuck, so did 6 miles so that's 25.6. Morrigu my favorite long sleeved tops are from Ronhill, so comfy and they have those handy wee holes to stick your thumbs through in cold weather!

Morrigu · 02/09/2014 14:44

Oh that's like the nike one I have emummy with the holes at the bottom. I'll have to check out the ronhill ones. Are they long in the arms? I have long arms and certain makes of tops on end up half-way my arm.

Only a little 3.5 to add. Was hoping for more but haven't had much sleep the last couple of nights which meant I woke up with a thumping headache this morning. Running did not help, especially since the paracetemol starting wearing off.

29.1
