Pmsl at Blathersnotsofithubby. That is all.

Welcome Lucy.

Standingonlego · 18/08/2014 18:04

I love the macho DH response...MrLego is now on the parkrun bandwagon and desperate to get sub 25 minutes...I am a bit Envy as all his 4 runs have been faster than my PB EnvyGrin

Anyway, I came here to add on my morning 5 miler (well, 5ish - I paused runkeeper as I tried in vain to do monkey bars in the park as my token WOLF run training and forgot to resume for ages so distance is approx Blush)

So that takes us to 504

Bluebird89 · 18/08/2014 18:41

Are you doing the September Wolf lego? Have you done one before? I did the spring one this year and winter wolf last year, love them they're such fun.

Standingonlego · 18/08/2014 20:02

Hi bluebird it is AUtumn wolf I think - 7th September. There are a gang of mumsnetters doing it - so pleased to hear you enjoyed it (we are all a bit scared)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/08/2014 20:35

Love 'stupid stubborn northern little legs' blatherskite!

4.6 to add from me through all the windy bike tracks through the forest and 3 bloody bomb holes!! 508.6

Hello runners!
Blathers I hope your DH is still suffering Wink

I am v excited to be doing my first proper 10k at the weekend! It's in the evening so while the weather should be cool, it means DP and DS probably won't be able to come and cheer me on.

Planning a couple of gentle 5ks in preparation, and am volunteering at parkrun on Saturday too.

Blatherskite · 18/08/2014 22:12

My stupid stubborn northern little legs took me on a 4 mile recovery run tonight...not that they needed a recovery run really, some of us aren't in pain after yesterday's running Wink

512.6

I'm on the WOLeF team too. Need to do more upper body strength work!

Bluebird89 · 18/08/2014 22:23

Don't be scared! It really is good fun. Although the winter one was easily the coldest I'd ever been what with all the water. How many of you are doing it?

Standingonlego · 18/08/2014 22:33

About 10 of us I think....we are over on this thread

Blatherskite · 18/08/2014 22:39

Ah, that's where you've gone! I lost the thread

Bluebird89 · 18/08/2014 22:47

I shall come and have a nose...

emummy · 19/08/2014 10:12

Taking easy this week ahead of Sunday's hill race, so just 2.2 miles tad, taking total to 514.8. Still ran up a hill and did a PB for 3k of 17 min 3,managing 8.4 min/mile, very chuffed! And rather breathless! Now off to convince myself that I'm not hungry as am fasting ahead of an endoscopy this afternoon.
Good luck with your 10k on Sunday ThursdayLast

zombiesheep · 19/08/2014 18:08

Hi all, 8.6miles ran yesterday so that's..... Um.... 523.4

Just a question for those training for a half marathon like me, or just those that run to lose weight, how many of you still eat carbs? I would like to start a low carb diet but I honestly don't reckon I would be able to maintain long runs like yesterday's without any carbs. Just wondering really as to what some of your diets are like. Thanks!

Also changed my timetable, 4 runs a week (one long, one normal, two speed or tempo runs) and then 2 weight training days. Feeling good!

Blatherskite · 19/08/2014 20:29

I wouldn't/haven't dropped carbs while half marathon training. According to my Nutrition for Runners book, anything past about 9 miles is when you really need to be carb loading before you run to ensure your muscles can cope with what you're about to put them through, going low carb/carb free would mean you really struggle I should think.

ThursdayLast · 19/08/2014 20:50

I run because I will never not eat carbs Grin
Or butter. Or ice cReam etcetera etcetera if you see what I mean??

Thanks emummy, it's actually Sat evening which in the Last household means picking up a Chinese on the way home.

HalloumiToastie · 19/08/2014 21:06

I ran 3 miles tonight so that's 526.4.

As for carbs, when I used to run longer distances I seemed to eat nothing but carbs, they were the only thing that satisfied my hunger and I still lost weight.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 19/08/2014 22:45

Long run at running club tonight (well, long for a bunch of beginners, anyway!). 5.6 miles, so brings us to 532.

zombiesheep · 20/08/2014 00:03

Brilliant, thought so! Thanks everyone :)

HalleLouja · 20/08/2014 17:00

530.8 includes 4.4 miles at run club from last night. The lady who was leading us used to be really fast but has lost her mojo :( Anyway she was saying that sometimes they do a 5 mile group at a mid pace and I would be good to do that if it happens.

Has anyone got a Garmin Forerunner 15? Am tempted to get one for my upcoming birthday.

Bluebird89 · 20/08/2014 17:40

3 miles with the dog this morning 533.8

Bluebird89 · 20/08/2014 17:42

Oh wait we seem to have gone backwards - I'm confused. 539.4 with mine and HalleLouja ?

HalleLouja · 20/08/2014 18:32

I missed Halloumi's as it was at the end of her post Blush

ThursdayLast · 20/08/2014 18:47

542.5 with a slightly back achey 5k

lucyintheskywithdinos · 20/08/2014 19:18

Just back from my 2 mile easy run for the week 544.5

Housemate then collared me to lift a load of hardboard sheets up to the second floor, took us six trips. Which felt more like exercise than the run did but I'm sticking to my 10k training plan!

Morrigu · 20/08/2014 19:43

Haven't been on in a while as I have lost focus with running. Have found it impossible to find the time between no childcare and the brief time I do get to myself after two years of being by myself, I've started dating again Blush. Basically life has been getting in the way.

Needless to say I won't be doing my hm in three weeks. Feel a tiny bit down deciding that after all that hard work but it's taught me that if I am to do training for a big run, it'll have to be one earlier in the year when ds is at school and the parents are about for babysitting littliest. Thinking the hm that happens close to me here next May instead.

Literally ran into my local running club yesterday when I was out doing a quick 20mins before the kids came home. The person tailing on the bike stopped me and asked if I wanted to join their club Grin Really considering seeing if I can organise a babysitter for even one of the two nights a week and they do their club long run on a Saturday apparently. Might help me get some of my running mojo back as I think some of the problem is that it's so solitary sometimes.

Have a few miles to add but it is only a few. I'll have to upload my garmin to check as haven't done it in a while.
