2.3 miles from me in only half an hour. that's good for me don't laugh Thought I'd do c25k week 5 but I just ran and ran! I want to go again right now but I'm clean Grin

I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT! I DID IT! Grin

Half marathon finished in 1 hour 58 minutes and 25 seconds Shock

PB by 8 minutes and my first ever sub 2

I had one of my clean eating Banana/Peanut Butter/Spinach/Almond Milk smoothies for breakfast - yes, I know that sounds gross but it's actually really, really nice - and then an M&S pasta ready meal thing for lunch while I sorted the parkrun finish tokens from this morning. I've been avoiding Coke all week too and downed a bottle before I started which I think helped. So pleased as sub 2 has been a goal for a while and I wasn't sure I was ready yet. So grateful to my friend who ran with me and made me keep up the pace right to the very end.

Now for pizza and an early night I think!

Need to add all of this week's miles so will do that in one go tomorrow once I've uploaded my garmin.

Fantastic news blatherskite, well done! Although I felt you would this time :)

Wow well done Blathers that's fantastic!!! Big pat on the back and a well deserved glass of wine tonight. I thought it was tomorrow, teach me to check the date of posts.

Oh no cinnamon that's a big whack of money especially with a lo due sometime soon in the future :( Sure it's done now and she's recovering well which is good. Mine that passed away recently wasn't insured either but thankfully had no incidents bar tooth extraction.

Yay for your run Tess. Feels good to get back into it doesn't it?

Mine is just running knocks though I pause my timer if I get caught at traffic lights (live in a town) which is either a pita or a blessing depending on how it's going Grin. I started the c25K in Feb and totally counted the walking bits in between the runs, after all you're covering that distance in that time and I think I walk quicker than I run at times.

Really, really reconsidering my decision to pull out of the hm in two weeks time. I may be slightly crazy because I've done no double figure mileage in about two months but figuring I could run the first half then do a walk/run approach for the second half. Would that be nuts? I just hate the fact of pulling out completely and wasting all that time and effort.

Blathers - that's a brilliant time, well done you. So are you speedy Wolef them? :)

Morrigu - I did my first half by getting up to 10 miles (as per the plan) and my second, because of injury, on about 9 miles. I can't remember if it's your first. I'd be tempted :)

Was supposed to do a long run this morning but was laid up with a migraine yesterday and didn't think it would be sensible. Will do something a bit shorter tomorrow as should be out with club on Monday.

3.6 miles on a lovely sunny morning. Had thought about doing further but will be running again tomorrow and haven't really done any back to back runs. Don't want to be Limping Wolef :)

My lungs need to have a word with my legs and my brain and tell them we can't go that fast any more Grin

Still, managed just over 4k today. Are we doing km or miles? It's 2.6 miles. 30 mins, with 20 mins non-stop (very sloooow) running. Legs still fine. Lungs still not.

Holy shit Blathers, that's fantastic. Well done!

Thanks everyone Grin

Have been out this morning for a 6k recovery run and have just booked to go bowling with the kids this afternoon so I should ache absolutely everywhere by tomorrow! Sub 2 was the goal for the Nottingham half which is still another 4 weeks away! Not sure now whether to take it slowly and enjoy it now or see how the rest of training goes and maybe try to do another sub 2 while I'm there. It is meant to be a lovely, flat course which is why I'd picked that one as the one to try sub 2 at.

I ran a couple of Times in Wales and am going to go out this evening for a 5km am hoping it will seem easy after the hills in Wales!

You won't take long to get back into the swing of it Eau

Yes feetheart it's my first hm. Am seeing the doc on Wed so will ask his opinion, if not there's a womens 10k in October that I am definitely signing up for.

Managed an unexpected 20 minute blast when ex called for half an hour to see dd so 2.5 to add. Eau's 2.6 and my 2.5 is 792.1

My plan for 8 miles today turned into 5 but I'm happy considering I'm not drinking as much as I should and I've lost 2kg in the last 2 weeks.

Taking us to 797.1, anymore for August? With Blatherskite's miles that takes us over 800 this month, that must be out best so far?

Report
Blatherskite · 31/08/2014 18:08

Yep, I can add 19.9 miles for this week which gets us to 817 exactly :)

I'm back from hols and only 1.5kg heavier, result! I ran 8km five times and 13km once, all of which I think I logged on here. Now into some serious HM training not that I'll beat Blathers time which was fabulous! I'm aiming for around 2:10. Will definitely be easier than running in the hotel gym, which must have been at least 25C. I could literally wring out my vest and sports bra when I'd finished!

cinnamon glad you're feeling better and getting back out there. Aren't you supposed to be getting heavier though?

Report
cinnamongreyhound · 31/08/2014 21:53

I lost 3 1/2st from 5 to 13 weeks with ds1 postmanpatscat and 1 1/2st with ds2 so I'm not doing bad!!! I was a lot heavier then though. Well done for all your holiday running :)

Morrigu · 01/09/2014 09:25

Well done on all those miles on holiday postmanpatscat. I can't run in heat at all, makes me feel really ill.

Is it because of morning sickness cinnamon?

Signed up for the 10k in October. Checking the local fixtures looks like it's one of the last ones until March. Calves a bit tight today so gonna hoke out my much hated roller and give it a whirl.

Hello all, hope you don't mind me joining for some advice?

I am signed up for a Half Marathon in October. I did my first Half Marathon last week and I am afraid to say, I really didn't enjoy it Sad

I don't know whether to go ahead now with the one I'm signed up for in October, or to just cut my losses and run for fun from now on?

Has anyone else had a similar experience and found they enjoyed the next one?

Report
cinnamongreyhound · 01/09/2014 12:39

I didn't enjoy the last 4 miles of my first and I drank too much water at 10 miles on my second and actually called dh to pick me up at 11 miles but made it to the end and I did my third with my doggy and loved it, just the last half mile was tough but the buzz from completing it was enough for me to sign up for another quite soon after themoknlitroad! I won't ever enter marathon as I don't want running to become a chore and I think it could over that distance. I think as you've done the hardwork to gain the fitness and it's not that long until October is be tempted to maintain your long run and see how you get on with a second :)
