That sucks Morrigu but yay for dating :)
I definitely recommend joining a club, I have lots of new friends because of it!

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 20/08/2014 23:14

Did my fastest ever 5k tonight, so really pleased. Running club must be paying off Smile. That's brings us to 547.6 now.

Blatherskite · 21/08/2014 09:30

5.8 miles worth of mile repeats from me last night. 553.4

ThursdayLast · 21/08/2014 18:54

2.25 miles in under 20 mins! Happy with that Grin

555.6

Morrigu · 21/08/2014 18:56

Yay for dating indeed cinnamon and I'm spreading the parkrun love. Have convinced him to try his first one next weekend Grin Barcode is printed and ready to go.

I'm really giving the running club serious consideration. I got a lot of smiles on the way past before I was stopped so they look like a friendly bunch.

Well done softkitty on your new pb.

Morrigu · 21/08/2014 19:00

Oh and checking through my Garmin history as I've still been too lazy to find the lead to connect it, 9.2 to add. 564.8

cinnamongreyhound · 21/08/2014 22:14

Felt way too sick to run today SadSadSad

curiousrugbymum · 22/08/2014 07:05

take good care cinnamon and hope you feel a little better today. Tis the hormones kicking in.

postmanpatscat · 22/08/2014 08:41

Hope you feel better soon cinnamon

Five treadmill miles to add, it's cooler than outside but still so warm in the gym that we come out dripping. In fact, we spend most of every day sweating by the pool or sweating in the gym so it's become kind of normal!

569.8 miles

HalleLouja · 22/08/2014 09:10

572.9 miles miles in total now.

Managed 3.1 miles even after doing a HIIT class yesterday.

emummy · 22/08/2014 12:17

574.9 now! just did 2 miles this morning, taking it easy ahead of Sunday's race. Glad I'm only doing the 5k, the 10 and half marathon go right up the hill, maybe next year!
Sorry about the sickness Cinnamon, hope it settles down soon and you can get back to normal.

Morrigu · 22/08/2014 20:13

Aww hope you're feeling better now cinnamon. Pregnancy sucks at times.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/08/2014 11:26

Thanks all, Thursday was by far my worst day so far! Managed my parkrun tourism today, lovely park at Redcar and did it in 27:35, 8th lady so I'm happy even though it was much easier than my home run. 3.1 miles to add then 578

MrsHuxtableReturns · 23/08/2014 13:10

Hello everyone, that's me back from my holiday. I've not managed to catch up with the thread yet. I managed to run my 100k while away, in fact I did 101 so for August so far I have 55.8 miles to add. 633.8
I did one 16k run which felt really good.

My new goal is to get the 10k below 60 minutes. It'll probably take ages. My PB so far is 1:03 but that was a totally flat holiday run and there are no flat routes where I live. The plan is to run 4 times a week, two 10ks, one longer run and one short interval/hill run.

HalleLouja · 23/08/2014 18:22

3.1 miles on Parkrun 636.9 and a new 5k pb at 27.08. [twirls]

Wow MrsH that's a lot of miles in August.

My aim is to do 10k in less than an hour my Whipsinade time was 1.02.25 so think I might be able to do it if I push myself. Not sure it will be at the Herts 10k as there is a big hill at the end faints.

originalpiratematerial · 23/08/2014 21:19

Hi all, just back from holiday and marking my place - will try and catch up when I get the chance! Blimey I've missed you all Grin

ThursdayLast · 23/08/2014 22:53

10k is my fave distance.
Hills 100% my nemesis

Will add to the total tomorrow. Wine doesn't help maths!

Glad you're feeling better Cinnamon

Good luck with hitting your time target MrsH

10.1 miles this morning. I've signed up for a 10 mile run in 2 weeks so was a good practice run. 647

Sirzy · 24/08/2014 08:44

Just a quick check in. Managed 4k while on holiday last week but life is at one of those "where can I fit it in" stages so no idea when I will next run. Not ideal given I have a 10k in 2 weeks

Now at 651.3 after a great run this morning. Perfect weather for it and it was lovely and quiet. Just perfect!

On another note, I've registered for my first proper race - aaarrrgghhh! It's the Great Yorkshire Run at the end of September and I'm so nervous. I've never done anything more race-like than parkrun, so I've no idea what do/where to go when I get there, how I'll pace myself or what to do at the end (assuming I get to the end Grin). Any first time race tips?

cinnamongreyhound · 24/08/2014 10:32

I'm rubbish SoftKittyWarmKitty! I feel sick all morning. I recommend taking a banana to eat about an hour before as often you'll need to be there a while before the start. Have a wee as close to the start time as you dare! Leave plenty of time to arrive and collect your number (if it's a race where you have to collect it on the day). Pace wise I tend to go by my garmin as you can get carried away with others and I find getting overtaken quite demoralising so better to be able to maintain your pace. I tend to get myself further to the back as I don't like getting in people's way and I'd rather pass others as I need to speed up. I think that's about all I can think of! Oh and good luck!

ThursdayLast · 24/08/2014 11:59

Adding my 10k from last night makes 657.5

I so enjoyed it! Loads of people I've started chatting to at parkrun were there which made it a really good experience.
It was damn hilly though. Like super dooper steep undulations, but I didn't walk once Grin

What distance is the GYR Kitty? Last night was my first proper race too, having pre-registered it was easy to follow the signs to pick up my number and then ask around for the start line etc.
Don't forget safety pins! Four of them.

I find pacing myself quite tricky -even at parkrun I tend to go off too fast, but I'm the opposite of cinnamon. I prefer to use my first flush of excitement to get going and settle into my pace further on.

Exciting!
I loved it so much I'm looking up the rest of the multi terrain races Grin

emummy · 24/08/2014 14:40

660.5 after my 5k hill race this morning. Bit disappointed, felt really light headed in first k and so had to walk a lot more then expected, so after all my hill training I didn't do as well as I hoped. Took around 32 minutes, waiting for official chip time. Was nearly sick at the finish line, not good! Think I should have had something to eat closer to race time, a lesson learned.

HalloumiToastie · 24/08/2014 14:52

Fridays run was 4 miles and todays effort was 3 miles, which felt really very hard today.
I am registered for Cheshire 10k on 2nd November but now wish it was say in 3 weeks time as hopefully I'll be ready then. Anyone here done/doing this race?

667.5

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 24/08/2014 18:12

The GYR is 10k Thursday. I've run that far a few times while training but I'm not fast by any means. I struggle with pacing because when I'm running with other people (parkrun or running club) I tend to try and keep up with them, even if they're way faster than me. There are different start waves for this race though, so I'm hoping I'll be in with people who run at roughly the same pace as me. Thanks for the tips Cinnamon, the banana is a good one - I'll take one for sure. Smile
