663.6 adding my. 3.1 miles. I think it should count as more as it is hilly as fuck in Wales! I did 5-6km but not a great GPS signal it kept not picking me up. Anyway it was nice to get out and run but I think my legs are going to hate me tomorrow. I asked a local if there were any non hilly bits to run and he basically laughed at me. Doesn't help that our holiday house is right at the top of a steep hill so I had that at the end, despite it not being warm I was dripping in sweat and looked like a beetroot when I got back.

I am telling myself after a week of running in Wales it will be a piece of piss to run when back home in flat Norfolk!

Morrigu · 25/08/2014 13:29

Still no running here but nice to read about all your races.

Sorry your still feeling bad cinnamon

The locals response made me laugh I have to say 5madthings. You'll be flying on the flats when you get back.

Oh no to the feeling sick emummy. I've seen a couple barf at the finish line at parkrun I have to say. 32 minutes is bloody marvellous for a hill race I think.

I'm getting my trainers back on tomorrow as it's back to school for ds!!! Our summer holidays are far too long over here, nearly 9 weeks of listening to the two of them bicker and fight. Not that I was doing a happy dance in the kitchen to the radio this morning at all. After my imposed sedentary weeks I'm actually looking forward to getting back out there. It might kill me but I'm hoping it won't take too long to get back into the swing of it.

Theonlyoneiknow · 25/08/2014 14:11

I haven't posted on this thread for ages, has been a busy summer! I did my new longest distance yesterday of 21km in 2hrs 2mins so was quite pleased. My legs don't want to move today at all though, am.very stiff! Still swithering over whether or not to enter a half marathon or just stick with my solo running!

emummy · 25/08/2014 17:30

Thanks Morrigu, feeling a bit less grumpy about it today; another lesson learned! Back into training for the Inverness 10k now.
Isn't it nice to when school starts again! Good luck with your first run.
Wow theonly 21k! Go for it with the half marathon, I'm sure you could find a smallish friendly one, you never know, you might enjoy it!

BetsyBell · 25/08/2014 18:15

Another holiday run here - this time in the Lake District, so proper hilly! Did better than I expected (ie didn't collapse and die), especially after all the pastry goods, cheese and cream teas I've consumed (main motivation for getting a run done today, as the kids were too tired for a proper walk). 6.5k today and I'll add on my rather pathetic 4k on the flat at home from last week I forgot to post up, so 6.5 miles from me:

670.1

Theonlyoneiknow · 25/08/2014 19:49

I think I am nearish to.you emummy any ones you would recommend? I love the Lakes Betsy, well.done on the holiday run. I find it really hard to be motivated when I am out of my normal routine

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2014 19:59

I found a half marathon a real challenge Theonlyoneiknow and a great feeling of achievement but I don't like the pressure of having to run!

Was going to try a run today as I found a holiday route on mapmyrun but I was so sick :( we climbed up a big hill later and my legs were quite wobbly coming down. Hoping to have a go tomorrow, morning sickness allowing!

emummy · 25/08/2014 21:01

I've not done any myself, theonly, it's my plan for next year! Crathes next month is full now but I like the look of Aviemore in October; it looks like a lovely route, starting in the forest. Will be doing the Inverness 10k at the end of Sept, not sure if they have any places left in the half

Theonlyoneiknow · 25/08/2014 21:32

I looked at the one in aviemore but it clashes with school hols and we are in East Lothian then! Will have a squizz online and see what there is. I have stopped wearing headphones and instead just play music from my phone out loud (strapped to my arm) and much prefer it (not sure what people I run past think!)

How many weeks are you cinnamon?

cinnamongreyhound · 25/08/2014 21:39

8 weeks Theonlyoneiknow :)

standingonlego · 25/08/2014 22:53

Popping in to add parkrun and a exploring run round the Basingstoke ring road - initially unpromising but managed to find my way to run up and down a hill and round a wood takes us to676.8

BetsyBell · 26/08/2014 08:53

All the talk of HMs scares me! But I am running further than I used to as a matter of course so maybe one day the idea will appeal... I looked at all my runkeeper records and although I go further I'm certainly not going any quicker!

theonly The kids were knackered yesterday and didn't want to get out for a proper walk so I needed to do something - DH and I went out on serial runs instead! Plus those scones won't burn themselves off. Big hike planned for today and we have glorious sunshine for it Grin

ThursdayLast · 26/08/2014 12:31

Runkeeper was really playing silly buggers today so I turned it off.
So I would say I ran approx 4miles making our total 680.8

Can someone remind me if we had an aim?

I did a fitness blender work out last night so am aching aaaaaaaaalllll over

emummy · 26/08/2014 12:33

Lovely 6 miles in the sunshine so that's 682.8 I think. Easy jog with short intervals, so was very relaxing. And not a hill in sight!

ThursdayLast · 26/08/2014 12:42

Oh spots with emummy
I make it 686.8

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 26/08/2014 12:44

I have approx 15 miles to add from over the course of last week. One short one, one middling one and one 8 mile belter!

Hope everyone is enjoying their running and managing to get out while kids are still off school.

I am off on holiday with DS tomorrow so no more runs this week as there will be no one else with us to watch him. We will be doing lots of hiking and beach combing though so that will be fun.

New total 697.8.

5madthings · 26/08/2014 15:45

I did 6km this afternoon, hilly and windy, can feel it in my legs!

Plus I swam in the sea this morning, because of the wind it was actually warmer in the sea than on the beach.

So add on 3.2 from me makes it 701 I think?

Morrigu · 26/08/2014 18:12

4 miles today. After not regularly running in so long the last mile was a killer. Didn't help it was hot here today. I am not a sunshine runner and looking forward to the cold and wet of winter weirdo that I am. Felt pretty great to get out again though. Another couple of days sticking at it and I know I'll be fine.

705 easy one to add for a change.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/08/2014 19:18

Fell asleep today so no run for me, feeling pretty rubbish about it with the rnr so soon but I think if I go and have a bad one it'll knock my confidence!

Just adding 4 more as there was a cross post earlier 709

postmanpatscat · 26/08/2014 19:37

8 treadmill miles to add. I'm building back up, planning a 10 mile run by the end of the week. It's so hot in the gym here that I can literally wring out my sports bra afterwards. However, it will have to do as it's about 15C hotter outside!

716 miles so far.

HalleLouja · 26/08/2014 21:01

4.7 miles from running club today. 720.7

Was in a faster group and struggled at the end. But I did it. Whoop.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 26/08/2014 21:52

723.7 after approx 3 miles at running club tonight. We did speed work, which explains the low mileage Grin.

feetheart · 27/08/2014 17:32

Have had a holiday, a birthday and a surprise Garmin :o

Did Chichester parkrun whilst away, a 5.5mile birthday beach run which was HARD and my usual 3.5ish mile run with the Garmin - DH had set it to km so it bleeped a lot and made me try and beat my 5k PB (competitive moi?)

Think that's 735.8

HalleLouja · 27/08/2014 18:17

Which Garmin did you get feet?

Am thinking of getting a forerunner 15 for my upcoming birthday. It looks good...

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 27/08/2014 19:53

Just a quick 1.8 miles tonight due to lack of time, so we're now at 737.6.
