Not sure, mine's a tiny little local one put on by a primary school in a small village in Cambs. I think it'll be me and maybe a hundred other faster runners.

originalpiratematerial · 30/04/2014 15:43

PostHoc - that's great!

(And has there been a memo about having a MN name that is a latin tag? If so, clearly I missed it Hmm)

PostHocErgoPropterHoc · 30/04/2014 16:03

Thanks originalpiratematerial. I didn't get a memo :) Mine's a West Wing reference as much as anything. I like your name, makes me want to dig out the album.

youbethemummylion · 30/04/2014 16:05

Ah in that case it isnt EauRouge mine is in the North East. Good Luck I bet they are not all faster and even if they are you are still doing it and thats the main thing.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 30/04/2014 16:15

originalpiratematerial not that I know of! my MN name is something dad said (& still says) to us often!

ThursdayLast · 30/04/2014 16:16

posthoc that really is a corner turned, there'll be no going back for you now.

mitchy be careful

'Tis miserable here today but might take dog out for a turn around the woods when DP takes charge of DS in a bit.
I've deliberately posted that so that you lot with make me which will keep me away from the malt loaf winking at me in the cupboard...

feetheart · 30/04/2014 17:12

HalleLouja - ah, I remember. I am in the large town with the airport (and no parkrun )
Can't do your local 10k unfortunately as we are away. Do you know of any others nearby? I haven't done much racing apart from 2 half marathons (in 2012 and 2013) but did the Flitwick 10k recently, am doing the Zoo Stampede and Northampton Colour 5k in June and the Wolf Run in the Autumn.
I seem to have a bit of a racing bug happening I and am very tempted by the LAC Series:o

HalleLouja · 30/04/2014 19:03

There is a Flamstead 10k sometime soon.

AmberNectarine · 30/04/2014 19:18

Hello all, posted a couple of threads ago. Am really enjoying my running, knocked 90s off my 5k today - happy with that.

Am doing Bupa London 10k in May, am hoping for 65-70, realistically (want to get sub 60 soon). Also signed up for the Brighton half today. Will be my first as didn't get a place in royal parks (boo). Really excited.

Have also entered the ballot for London but have never got in previously so won't get hopes up!

originalpiratematerial · 30/04/2014 19:30

Oh that's funny about the Latin references! I love West Wing too. Come to think of it, what has happened to FemaleJoshLynam? And Degustibus, was your dad very erudite? Mine used to say "Shut the door please" in Irish to us but I don't remember any other forrin Grin.

originalpiratematerial · 30/04/2014 19:31

And yes, I [heart] that Streets album! I have a couple of tracks from it on my running playlist!

ThursdayLast · 30/04/2014 19:35

An arduous 4 miles in the bag,

Now where's that curry?

Mitchy1nge · 30/04/2014 20:08

hi runningLou here is thread about what you can do with a calf strain hope there's something helpful there :)

orangeflutie · 30/04/2014 20:09

Wow thread number 4Smile

Great to read how well everyone's running is going and I can't believe how quick the last thread was! I haven't managed to get out today. Think I need motivating and also have a sore right foot on the sole. It's been coming and going for a few weeks now so I've made an appointment to see podiatrist next week.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 30/04/2014 20:19

Originalpiratematerial yes, he is rather erudite! Both my parents went to posh schools, whereas I am decidedly unposh Grin

Love that album too, by the way!

Well, I managed a PB for my 5km run today, at bang on 29 mins (I also caught my earphone cord, and broke them Angry. So have ordered an iPod shuffle, now I don't need to carry my phone anymore!)

Sirzy · 30/04/2014 20:19

ok so 2 and a half weeks before my first race is a bad time to get a complete lack of motivation. Was going out today but some serious procrastination meant it didn't happen, no chance to run tomorrow so going to have to force myself out friday.

SoftKittyWarmKitty · 30/04/2014 20:28

Thanks Mitchy, miles per runs per week sounds a good idea for me.

No run tonight for me Sad - it's been absolutely throwing it down here, with thunder and lightning, which typically started as I was on the drive home from work. Can't go tomorrow night as I'm out for dinner with friends, so Friday evening it is Smile.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 30/04/2014 20:40

Still here originalPirate. I think I have a similar injury to Mitchy. Sad Just nagging lower calf/achilles not sure which.

Everyone is doing so well Smile I am doing the Hunts 10k, I hope I am fit again then.

Just so fed up and only 2 weeks without running, am definitely an addict.

briteside · 30/04/2014 20:47

Hi all, no run for me today but the plan is for a lunchtime run tomorrow.

I have loved reading about everyone elses runs & achievements. Some great PB's happening! Well done!

I worked from home and ended up pigging out on easter eggs and other junk food, so I feel pretty revolting and in need of a run! I did have a giggle though - DH joined me for the first 2.8kms of my run yesterday and he is STRUGGLING today. He is limping around with lots of moans & wincing!

cinnamongreyhound · 30/04/2014 21:11

No run for me today either, was supposed to be our clubs pre-10k for all those helping on Monday but couldn't go due to an emergency governors meeting that we HAD to attend :( running with my buddy tomorrow am instead, probably better to do a gentle 4 miles than a full pelt 10k really but I so wanted the medal :(

officelady · 30/04/2014 21:47

Oh hello! I thought I had lost you all ... nightmare!
After successfully completing my C25K plan I have "signed up" to a 10k training plan on Runkeeper. I lazily picked the least challenging option, the aim is to do a 10k in 65 mins after 16 weeks. So far I've completed the first run which was an "easy 3.2k" - which turned out to be fortuitous because I got a horrid stitch after about 0.5k which I couldn't get rid of. Hope it's not going to be a regular occurrence! The plan is to run 4 times a week, and on my rest days I'm working my way through Jillian Michaels DVDs. Glutton for punishment, me Grin
Now that I am a proper runner I have decided I want All The Things so have subscribed to Runners World magazine so I can drool over running gadgets and suchlike. It was on offer through Groupon so it seemed rude not to take advantage!

originalpiratematerial · 30/04/2014 21:56

PostHoc I heard Lord (Robert) Skidelsky use this very phrase in a debate today Grin

CQ · 30/04/2014 22:11

A foggy run this morning - very eerie and decidedly damp. Slow but steady 4.5 miles.

Chopstheduck on the last thread you were talking about finding a flat race but I can't remember if you were considering a 10k or a HM, anyway, I've just heard about this one today Marlow FM Radio Run. It's a lovely flat riverside 10k on 1st June.

I'm quite tempted. I'm thinking you are in this neck of the woods too?

CQ · 30/04/2014 22:14

And Sirzy - don't worry about the amount of times you get out between now and race day - you've put in more than enough groundwork and on the day the crowd and adrenalin will carry you round. Just don't start too fast in all the excitement!!

runningLou · 30/04/2014 22:26

Thank you for the thread link Mitchy. I am swimming, doing spinning classes and pilates for the moment. Seeing an osteopath for an assessment Friday as despite costing the earth my new orthotics seem to be doing absolutely sod all taking a long time to show any benefit. Am paranoid I have ruined my knees for ever and will never run again. My right knee has a weird lump of bone sticking out of the side too - this is what I need to show the osteo.
But, my Dad has dodgy knees and has run 9 marathons. Let's hope I inherited the running genes as well as the gammy knee genes!!
