Hello.

This morning I've done half of 6W6P L1. First exercise I've done in 2 weeks having been really good and managing 5 sessions a week since the new year.

I don't know what's happened to me. A switch has flicked in my head and I just don't feel part of it any more. I was breezing through this level a few weeks ago. Actually I was breezing through it today, it wasn't that it was difficult. When she said, "Bad news, we're going to go back to the beginning ... blah blah blah" I just thought, "Well, I'm not going to" and switched it off.

Feeling very frustrated with myself. I need to make the mental switch back.

KiaOraOAotearoa, I think you're supposed to take one or two rest days a week but I know exactly what you mean. I would have been fine if it was part of my every day routine but the moment I take a break it feels like something I have to make myself do instead of something I just do.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2014 12:48

KiaOra - you really should take one or two rest days a week. What works for me is simply a routine of doing it every weekday morning but not at the weekends (we'll usually do something active at least one of those days). If you regularly swim a couple of days a week then those could be your scheduled 'shred rest days' . So the mindset isn't that you aren't bothered, it's that you are purposefully doing something else (and that something else could be deciding to 'rest and repair' on a particular day)

I've been doing JM since about last July with just a few (deliberate, planned) breaks during the hols on this basis.

IdkickJilliansAss · 30/04/2014 13:22

I think it's during rest days that your muscle fibres knit back together too giving you tone

Thank you for your replies. It didn't sound right what I was doing, that's why I checked. Oh, I listened to you, went shopping instead and found a couple of 'gems' that I am most proud of. :)

spinningirl10 · 30/04/2014 14:45

I guess if you're rotating JM dvds or other sorts of exercise then it's ok to exercise daily as you're using different muscle groupsGrin

I've done day 29 of KB&T and Yoga Meltdown which arrived today! I enjoyed the yoga but didn't work up a sweat, I only did L1 but would have also done L2 if I'd had time. Yoga and Pilates always make me light headed, does anyone else find this? Grin

spinningirl10 · 30/04/2014 14:49

Also, my kettlebell dvd arrived yesterday but I've not tried it yet. I did watch the first bit last night (the half hour tutorial) and it looks hard but it must be really good for your legs with all those squat moves!!!

Fizbo · 30/04/2014 14:50

Hi can I join? have just started Ripped in 30. The plan is to do this 5 times a week. I have done the Shred before and loved it. I have a 9 month old and am keen to loose the last bit of baby weight before I return to work in July.
I really need to motivate myself to do this, my OH is under instruction to remind me how much I want to get fit again. Before my pregnancy I used to go to the gym twice a week for an hour do JM Shred, and do a weekly yoga class. I am so unfit now :(

spinningirl10 · 30/04/2014 14:50

Lindt, well done for doing something, maybe that was the kick start you needed to get back into itGrin

spinningirl10 · 30/04/2014 14:52

Hi fizbo and welcomeGrin

You'll be surprised at how soon you'll get back into it and feel fit again and Ri30 is fabGrin

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2014 16:02

fizbo - for sure you can do this. (If you do have any problem with ripped, do some shred again first)

Jacksterbear · 30/04/2014 19:07

Lindt ime the first session back after a break is by far the hardest, mentally. So you've got that over with and hopefully can get back into a routine now.

Fizbo if you've been fit before, I reckon it'll be easier and quicker to get fit again (I say this from comparing my experience post-dc1, when I was getting fit for the first time, to post-dc2, when I'd done it before? If that makes sense).

Have been Shaun T-ing, yesterday and today. May Jillian tomorrow, to mix things up! Grin

IdkickJilliansAss · 30/04/2014 19:34

DS gave me a bad night so i've had my rest day today will get back on it tomorrow

Hi,

Thanks for the support!

My lift share friend has offered to take my children to AND from school tomorrow which means I can walk the dogs between 8 and 9 and hopefully squeeze in some time with Jillian over lunch. The working day while the kids are at school is so short, particularly as I have to fit in the hour's dog walk too. I'm self-employed and haven't had a huge amount of work in this year but it's suddenly all flooding in which is good but makes it harder to fit in quality time with JM. Still, it's not just me, we all have limited time don't we!

Anyway, tomorrow's the day I hope to flick my mental switch. Friday will be tougher as I've got to do the school run both ways and then I'm having 13 people round for book club - I'm not good at entertaining and find it really stressful.

Welcome Fizbo. You've done it before and loved it and now you've got a nice goal in mind so I'm sure you can get to enjoy it again!

Also KiaOraOAotearoa, I totally agree with ErrolTheDragon about taking your rest days at the weekend. When I was successfully managing to fit in 5 sessions a week that's what worked for me too. Had forgotten, so was good to be reminded!

Fizbo · 01/05/2014 11:00

Thank you all for a lovely welcome! I started my morning with week 2 of RI30, it was really hard but I managed to get through. I did a combination of the advanced and beginner versions, at the end I was a sweaty mess! I do feel like I've had a really good work out though.

I love Jillians attitude, in the past I've found other celeb DVD presenters so annoying :)

spinningirl10 · 01/05/2014 13:31

KB&T Day 30 done!!!!

Hooray, now I can rotate my JM workouts and do what I fancyGrin

Today I've also down Yoga Meltdown Levels 1&2....I really like this dvd, my arms and legs are aching a little from just doing L1 yesterday. L2 is quite fast moving and a step up from regular yoga. I really felt like I was getting a good workout and I worked up a sweatGrin

IdkickJilliansAss · 01/05/2014 17:03

Good luck Lindt I miss your funny updates so look firward to having them back!
Well done Fizbo agree with you about JM's presenting style, in L3 of KB&T she looks through the screen into your soul to make sure you are not cheating!!!
Wow spinning that is excellent work, which other dvd's do you have? My kettlebell dvd seems to be lost in the post!
Anyway BFBM done and I added in some weight, I did all the circuits instead of leaving out circuit 2 like I usually do but now remember why I leave it out Grin but I feel good now and have a pilates class later

spinningirl10 · 01/05/2014 17:29

Well done KickGrin

I have
BFBM
NMTZ
Ri30
30DS
KB&T
Yoga Meltdown
And 6week6pack which I haven't tried yet! Wow quite a collectionGrin

Still not tried kettlebells workout, scared I think!

spinningirl10 · 01/05/2014 17:31

Do you have anything different to me Kick?

IdkickJilliansAss · 01/05/2014 17:38

Extreme Shred and Shed, dont like it though!

OP posts:
spinningirl10 · 01/05/2014 19:04

That ones not tempted me yet Kick.

Forgot to say that in L2 on Yoga Meltdown there is a move where you start in a really low squat like posiiton but with your hands on the floor and then you lift your weight off your feet and are just supported by your hands. The knees are outside of the elbows.
I don't think there is any chance of me ever being able to do that!
Can anyone here do it?

oohdaddypig · 02/05/2014 06:59

spinning I have done yoga for ten years and can manage it for about 3 seconds... The trick is sufficient hip flexibility and using your core like billy-o. For years I pretended to try to do it and one day it happened!

idkick what don't you like about extreme shred? Is it a different format?

I have been feeling a bit sick so only managed level 3 or ripped yesterday after a few days off.

Hope everyone is well!

spinningirl10 · 02/05/2014 07:31

Ooh big respect oohdaddy, that is one tough move!! Hope you're keeping well and pregnancy is being kind to youGrin

I've done NMTZ this morning.

IdkickJilliansAss · 02/05/2014 11:30

Well done Daddy I had a go and fell over so can safely say I cant do it! Extreme S&S goes too fast with little to no explaination and I dont like the Capoeira in it either, hope you're keeping well Smile

OP posts:
IdkickJilliansAss · 02/05/2014 11:31

Have you tried all of your DVD's before spinning?

OP posts:
spinningirl10 · 02/05/2014 12:22

Yes I have Kick, I started with 30D shred which I did for 30days, saw fab results! Then moved on to Ri30 for 30days. And just finished KB&T again for 30days!!
During this time I've done NMTZ and BFBM a few times and the yoga one is new this week.

Oh I haven't tried 6w6p....I don't want to get into doing something for a whole 6 weeks though so the plan is to mix them all up a bit alongside gym, cycling and running now the weathers improvingGrin

Have you done them all, have you got a favourite?
