Hi everyone I need some advice! I did week 2 of RI30 last Thursday, I had done 4 sessions of week 1 and really enjoyed the workout, until the next day.

I woke up in agony and could barely lift my daughter, Saturday was slightly better, but I couldn't do any exercise.
What should I do now? Should I go back to week 1 or keep at week 2? I've had a 4 day stretch of no exercise and feel nervous about getting in that mess again.

Jacksterbear · 06/05/2014 10:21

Where is/was the pain Fiz? And what sort of pain? The kind of ache you get when unused muscles have been exercised, or the kind that indicates something is wrong/injured (eg a sharp pain or pain just in one place)?

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2014 10:39

spinning - a couple of strong coffees before exercise can be helpful - some serious exercisers take a couple of espressos almost medicinally before working out.

Can't say I can feel anything in particular after yesterdays 6w6p ... not sure whether thats good or bad.Confused.

Fizbo - depends so much whether it's muscle, joints or back.

spinningirl10 · 06/05/2014 11:02

Problem is Errol that I get up at 6 to exercise and would have to get up even earlier to have coffee first! Espresso sounds good though as I drink my coffee black and that eould be small enough to drink fast! Might try it thanks Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2014 11:09

I'm not that fond of coffee - love the smell when DH makes his, he grinds the beans fresh - so I just cheat with a couple of spoonfuls of instant nowadays. Grin

IdkickJilliansAss · 06/05/2014 11:14

You could drink an espresso as part of your warm up Grin I hate coffee, it's green tea for me Smile BFBM done and I have a circuits class tonight

Marking place

spinningirl10 · 06/05/2014 11:27

Ooh green tea, I have some in the cupboard I must try it! Don't like tea or soft drinks so only drink black coffee and water. Could do with another option Grin

Errol, maybe you can't feel anything from 6w6p because you had to keep stopping it to see moves properly?

IdkickJilliansAss · 06/05/2014 12:41

Gin? Grin Hi Worrywarrier

Now there's a thought Kick....maybe I should try that at 6am!! :)

IdkickJilliansAss · 06/05/2014 13:19

Might be the best idea but at least the workout will all be a blur!

jackster it was shoulder/upper arm pain. I used 3kg weights, I'm wondering if I should go back to 1kg for a while. It felt like I had pulled my triceps and I think the discomfort had radiated to the shoulder area.

IdkickJilliansAss · 06/05/2014 13:30

The Bob Harper DVD just popped through my letterbox, pleased to see it has 2 workouts one of an hour long and an intense 25 minute burst for when i'm pushed for time

Fizbo - probably wise to go to a lower weight and see how that goes.

Coincidentally I seem to have hurt my upper arm yesterday, so today's go at 6W6P I didn't use a weight at all for the second lap, and had to miss a couple of moves. But didn't need to hit the pause button. Before that I did a 4 mile walk/jog ... so warm after that I changed out of my legging things into shorts, urgh the skin on my thighs could do with shrinking.

spinningirl10 · 06/05/2014 20:12

Ouch, I've hurt my knee Hmm

I've had a twinge there for about a week but thought it was ok but it's really quite sore this evening!! Think I'll have a bath and put some deep heat on and see if that helps.

IdkickJilliansAss · 06/05/2014 20:29

Oh no spinning'let us know how you feel tomorrow. Knotty I tried the 25 minute Interval on the Bob Harper DVD which wasn't so bad but the 1 hour one looks terrifying! I will have to psyche myself up!

Did L1 and L2 of Ri30. Really don't like L2, waaaay too much planning based exercises!

ErrolTheDragon · 06/05/2014 23:07

Bad luck, spinning - be careful with that, you don't want to make it worse. Perhaps you'd better avoid lunges etc and concentrate on upper body/abs for a while.

spinningirl10 · 07/05/2014 08:45

I haven't done any JM this morning. The pain in my knee is right at the front. Errol I think that's what I'll do, I'm going to look through the circuits on NMTZ and bfbm later and see if I can just do upper body/abs! I'm away for a long weekend from Friday so will try and do something later/tomorrow and have the weekend off and hopefully will be back to it on Tuesday. I think it's probably the lunges that have done it.....there seem to be so many in all the workouts so you never really get a break!

knottyhair · 07/05/2014 09:52

Idkick, I did the 25 min Bob one yesterday as well! Found bits of it quite tough but I think Shred or Ripped is a better all round workout of that length. Go on, give the hour one a go!

Sorry to hear about all the injuries - I seem to have joined that club also! Fizbo, another Ripped L2 casualty here. Started it this morning but gradually noticed a shooting pain in my right shoulder blade area. 15 mins in, I had to stop and it really hurts if I move my head to the right or lift my DD great. Will try to rest it as much as poss today. Not due to do any Jillian/Bob tomorrow, Friday I was going to do Yoga Meltdown, Saturday a 20 mile walk so fingers crossed it's OK by Friday. Hope other injured people improve soon. Spinning I exercise at 6am as well, but I have to have a coffee first so I'm up at 5.15-5.30. I shall think of you when I'm next doing it, will be comforting to know I'm not the only one!

ErrolTheDragon · 07/05/2014 11:22

Did the 6W6P and some extra upper body free weights. Don't know what it is with my arm - it was fine lifting 6kg dumbbell, but hurts if it's in compression - so on the plank stuff I was having to put more weight on the other arm, and couldn't do the burpees or the side plank thing where you're on extended arm.

spinningirl10 · 07/05/2014 12:23

Oh dear, sorry to hear there's a few injuries! It's hard not being able to do it.

Knotty....pleased to hear I'm not the only early bird, 5.15 is super earlyGrin

spinningirl10 · 07/05/2014 17:46

I've looked through my dvds and think I've found 6/7 circuits that I can do without putting too much pressure on my knee. I'll try it in the morning and see how I get on. I'm away early Friday until Monday, hopefully a few days rest will sort it outGrin

spinningirl10 · 08/05/2014 07:26

Yay my circuits worked well, manages to avoid any lunges or squats and still did 45 minsGrin

IdkickJilliansAss · 08/05/2014 08:51

Well done Spinning.I'm going to a cardio blast class in a minute, a mum/personal trainer holds it in the church hall before toddler group so DS can play with his friends whilst I exercise
