I have defective cartilage too Polka, I don't think that hockey is good for knees. I had about 2 years rest before mine were feeling better but everytime I 'click' my knee I really panic. NSAIDs were useless for me as was physio. Mine flares up every now and then but nothing as bad as the first attack.

Don't beat yourself up Polka, knees are not predictable.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/04/2014 22:30

Good luck for Friday Blathers. You will rock Smile.

Blatherskite · 14/04/2014 22:38

I just want to do a time other than 2h13 for a change.

Quicker would be nice :)

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 14/04/2014 22:52

I can't believe how fast this thread moves. Faster than me when I'm running, that's for sure!

Good luck with your HM blathers.

Tea and sympathy to all those with knee pain. My MIL played a lot of hockey in her youth and her knees are buggered. She swears by three weekly acupuncturist visits.

Sirzy · 14/04/2014 22:58

I know over 150 replies in 2 days!

Knees are horrible. Mine was well and truly messed up in a rounders injury at school but thankfully it seems quite happy running most of the time although still the odd ache.

Hi everyone, ran 5k in 29 minutes today, so PB for me :) very pleased

TessTackle · 14/04/2014 23:21

Well done zombie, that's great!

I'm in love with these capris, they're quite dear though so I'm going to treat myself once I've managed 3 consecutive runs with no walking Grin

Well done, Zombie! Is it your first sub-30?

Those are amazing capris, I wish I could wear something like that. I stick to black because I'm a massive chicken and don't want to draw attention to my arse self.

PolkaSpottyDotty · 15/04/2014 07:51

zombie that's a great time! I'd love to get sub 30 for my 5k. I think it is do-able (if my knees hold out) as the course is completely flat and my 34min run was very hilly.

I'm going out on easy run today, I'm going to try and keep my pace at 10-11mi/min instead of my usual 8-9mi/min to see if that helps.

MelanieCheeks · 15/04/2014 07:51

I've been too warm the last couple of times I've been out running, time for some cooler gear methinks.

Sirzy · 15/04/2014 07:59

Eau, I am the same sticking to plain. One of my pairs of tight is dark purple and thats about as brave as I get!

Right, sun is shining and its a lovely morning so I am off out to fit in a couple of km before I start the day!

TessTackle · 15/04/2014 08:28

Eau I'm 5"2 and a size 12/14 (closer to 14) I shouldn't draw any attention to my huge arse and thighs but the capri's are so pretty!

EauRouge · 15/04/2014 08:35

It's nowt to do with size, it's to do with me being a chicken Grin

Sirzy · 15/04/2014 08:40

3k in just under 21 mins. Loving this weather but may need to get my sunglasses out of the car for my next run!

Well done zombiesheep!

I predict 2hr 10 with all your 5k training blatherskite!

I love those capris TessTackle, anything colourful is good for me :)

Went out with a friend who I don't normally run with and she definitely quicker than me!! Did very low 9's and a couple under 9min miles Shock, dogs didn't thank me! My usual running buddy is slower than me so I don't have to push myself when I run with her, she is in Florida so a bit far to pop back for a 6am run Grin. I was massively under dressed, turns out we had a frost here last night and I came back with bright pink arms and lower legs!!

TessTackle · 15/04/2014 08:59

Eau I spotted leopard print ones too Grin

Sirzy that sounds lovely, I'm itching to get out now!

cinnamon I'm about to go out in capris and a t-shirt, but I am the sweatiest being known to man. I don't think I'd cope wearing any more.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/04/2014 09:06

It's warmed up at lot here since 6 so you should be ok TessTackle! I'm the same, always wear less than anyone I'm running with :)

ThursdayConsuelaLast · 15/04/2014 09:12

Oh you lot are making me so sad. Well jealous really, I wanna ruuuuuuun!
But I am heeding Cinnamons advice and not running until the pain is gone, which I'm hoping it will be by Saturday because missing parkrun really got my weekend off to a bad start.

Definitely warm enough for running shorts here this week Grin

Sirzy · 15/04/2014 09:13

It was, it wasn't a very fast or long run (don't think I was awake yet and not a lot of time for longer) but it was so peaceful, didn't bother with my music just listened to the birds and squirrels :)

I was only in t shirt and capris to and was plenty warm enough

OP posts:
Sirzy · 15/04/2014 09:14

Thursday can you not go for a gentle walk instead? not the same but better than nothing?

OP posts:
Sirzy · 15/04/2014 09:15

Not the greatest pic but part of my lovely run!

My morning run plan has been thwarted by a poorly toddler. Knees are sore rather than painful, hopefully after an enforced day on the sofa with DD I'll be ok to try a gentle run.

Sirzy that's a beautiful pic! I'll try one of my weekend running place...

PolkaSpottyDotty · 15/04/2014 09:24

Hopefully this works, it's my first ever pic!

Lovely Polka. I like this ability to post pics!

Hope your DD feels better soon

Just under 3k in 17 mins, including the BIG hill on the way back. Lovely way to start the day!
