Thanks all, felt great going out. Another run planned for tomorrow.

Britesite can't help sorry my hair is horrible all the time! I am interested in what people suggest though as getting my hair cut in a few weeks and it will be too short to stick up like i do now

A spray in/leave in conditioner might help with the hair. I know you can buy special holiday ones to protect the hair from going frizzy in the sun. My hair is OK but my skin gets very dry so I slather it in moisturiser before I go out and it stops it drying out so much. Should work the same for hair - maybe?

Hope your knee feels better soon cinnamon

Standingonlego · 24/04/2014 19:46

I am doing the whipsnade stampede too :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/04/2014 19:56

Ouch cinnamon you poor thing. Hope you are OK.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 24/04/2014 20:01

Hello runners! Grin
I hope you are feeling better cinnamon. I can't see the pic as am on the app but it sounds painful.
I am not running today as DP has gone to do something super important (or gone to pub) and I can't get out. I am going to get the exercise bike out though and pedal away for half an hour and maybe do some squats and lunges if I can summon up the energy.
I was looking online at the ZSL stampede last night, it is v v close to my parents' house so I might do it. So indecisive!
I took DS to Decathlon today to get some elbow and knee pads and accidentally spent 20 quid on running clothes! Oops!

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 24/04/2014 20:03

My hair is short btw and I just clip my fringe off my face while I'm running. I have always washed it daily so I don't think running makes any difference. My skin however is so much better since I started running more often. I think it is improved circulation. It looks much less grey and seems a lot softer.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 24/04/2014 20:08

Lovely 5km run this evening with a few hills thrown in, I wasn't trying to go fast but still managed it in 31 mins, and on a fast day! (Only 300cals, dinner was after the run... Which means I'm probably being a bit lazy on the flat runs Blush

Sirzy · 24/04/2014 21:26

31 min 5k is great :)

I feel much more back on track tonight, ran this morning good days eating and 30 day shred tonight.

Hello everyone

Still off running, but did my pilates class followed by 30 lengths in the pool this evening. My knee is relatively pain free, yippee! Will parkrun on Sat and see how I feel after that.

Cinnamon I hope you're feeling better soon. And that dastardly greyhound.

And everyone else well done! All these fast 5ks and long distances and race entering I can't keep up!

cinnamongreyhound · 24/04/2014 21:36

Bump is gone but it's very colourful now!

The greyhound is very good at avoiding things it's the whippet that hit me, they say whippets put on the brakes at the point they should actually already have stopped! She's still a bit quiet but she ran around the forest earlier ThursdayConsuelaLast :)

Sirzy · 24/04/2014 21:42

Good luck on Saturday Thursday

Hope its not too painful cinnamon

Great running stories, itsaboatjack - inspiring!

Actually I love all the running stories, my name is originalpiratematerial and I am an addict Blush.

I did another workout at the gym this afternoon - all core stuff. So it's been quite a busy week, have run 16.5 miles, done two gym workouts and a pilates class. Hoping to do another longish run tomorrow morning. (Longish being six miles.)

ThursdayConsuelaLast · 24/04/2014 21:44

Hahaha, who knew whippets were such a danger?!
That is v colourful knee. I've always been led to believe that bruising is a positive thing, injury coming out rather than going in IYSWIM. I realise that sounds a bit old wives tale though.

With regards to skin/hair. I wash my hair everyday, with a solid shampoo from Lush and then a leave in conditioner-my hair is super greasy though. My enforced lay off has turned my skin to shit. Massive break out on my chin random everywhere else Sad
My problem is that my eating habits are set in stone. And I need to exercise to keep the balance.

ThursdayConsuelaLast · 24/04/2014 21:45

Thank you sirzy Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 24/04/2014 21:54

Just looked a whipsnade stampede as I love the zoo but it's pricey for a 10k and a bit far for me. Wonder if you can stay in the zoo afterwards Wink

originalpiratematerial · 24/04/2014 21:55

I have longish hair and it's quite dry at the ends and would just fall off if I washed it every day so I do resort to dry shampoo to avoid having to do that. It does get a bit manky though. I console myself with the thought that nobody gets very close, these days, apart from my kids and they're smelly buggers Grin.

originalpiratematerial · 24/04/2014 21:56

Anyway - tell me about Garmin, people. Do I need anything more than the Garmin Forerunner 110 Unisex Watch?

Mitchy1nge · 24/04/2014 22:01

I didn't know it was called 'unisex' Grin not sure why that makes me laugh but it does

is it because the strap fits any wrist? I had an FR10 and it was great but I wanted to know more stuff so I got a 220 (then have barely been able to run since haha Grin) - it didn't pair with the HRM which was a bit annoying, it also took YEARS to find the satellites sometimes whereas the 220 is all pre-cached and INSTANT

am currently battling the urge to get the vivo fit band

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 24/04/2014 22:07

Ooh I am lusting after a garmin 220 Confused. Maybe next month!

Mitchy1nge · 24/04/2014 22:08

ahhhh that one gives you proper swim metrics? Envy

have you checked here? you can compare all the garmins and their very thorough reviews

Blatherskite · 24/04/2014 22:09

cinnamon The Zoo Stampede price includes entrance to the zoo for the rest of the day and they send you a code to get 25% off tickets for anyone that wants to come and watch you. Come and do it!

So far it's me, feetheart and standingonlego....anyone else?

briteside · 24/04/2014 22:20

Thanks for the hair tips! Leave in conditioner sounds like an idea, especially as most of my runs are during worklunch time so it would be very convenient...

Glad the knee is getting better Cinnamon (Or at least looking colourful...). I wish I was closer to Whipsnade as that zoo stampede looks bril.

I have a Garmin 220, I got it a month ago for my birthday and it is amaaaaaaazing.....go for it Degust you will not regret it!

originalpiratematerial · 24/04/2014 22:21

Those sure are detailed reviews!
