(without the hyphen)

KristinaM · 17/04/2014 17:44

Ha, so you have already informed the polis. Good .

Mitchy1nge · 17/04/2014 17:47

no I just checked it out by asking someone who turned out to be a referee on the man's application, it's a very very very small world here

EauRouge · 17/04/2014 17:48

Just caught up with the thread. My knee might be screwed but at least I didn't get shot at. Fucking hell Shock

KristinaM · 17/04/2014 17:50

Then tell the polis you dafty . They will speak to him .

Mitchy1nge · 17/04/2014 18:17

he wasn't shooting at ME just pigeons but I came hurtling (in all of my 12 minute mile pace) into view unexpectedly

it's fine, at least he's applied for a licence (also he's smoothed out some bumpy bits by driving there) and was doing some pest control

I was just surprised because is a funny time of year, but obviously pigeons are not game

Mitchy1nge · 17/04/2014 18:19

these things happen in the boonies, last time I nearly got shot on a run was wayyyyy back in December so mustn't grumble Grin

hope you feel better soon Eau, soon enough for your race Flowers

originalpiratematerial · 17/04/2014 19:49

Mitchy getting shot at Shock - flipping 'eck!

I ran to work this morning. WAs meant to do at least part of it at "tempo pace" but it was one of those days where the brain got the memo, the legs not so much! I find it quite tiring running to work as well because it's a proper busy urban route with lots of kerbstones waiting to trip me up, cyclists waiting to mow me down, pedestrians waiting to step sideways into my path as I go to run past them, etc etc etc. That's my excuse, anyway Blush. Anyway that's another 4.25 miles done taking my total for the week so far to 15.25, will try and do at least six miles tomorrow.

originalpiratematerial · 17/04/2014 19:50

Eau I don't suffer from ITB pain (one of the few leg/foot niggles I don't seem to get Hmm but everyone I know who does swears by the blue roller. Hurts like a bastard though Grin

sassytheFIRST · 17/04/2014 20:14

So tired and hurty tonight. OH and I did Go Ape in the local forest today, it had been bought by a group of friends for our 40ths last year. Great fun, though I ache in all sorts of odd places now! Then did 2 miles on treadmill in 18 mins while dd had a swimming lesson. Knackered now!

sassytheFIRST · 17/04/2014 20:16

Well done polka - that 1st 5k is a big step.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/04/2014 20:38

I want to do go ape, may take ds1 on the little one first though!

Sorry to hear about all the sore bits :(

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 17/04/2014 22:46

Can I say hi? Just started 3 weeks ago and can now run a very slow 5.2k. The terrain I run in is hilly at times wherever I go but I feel such a buzz when I'm done that it's worth what is at times, a slog. Usually when I come in from work I slump in front of the telly with a cuppa and a biscuit but today I came in,changed and did a 5k instead. Wonderful.

roquefortlover · 17/04/2014 22:55

Welcome iam mummy and well done! Don't be alarmed by all the shooting talk on the thread today, it doesn't happen every day!Grin

Emummy, all my family think I am obsessed and they may be right, my 14 year old finds it especially laughable but I don't really care, am just so amazed that (a) I have found I love running and (b) i am not totally crap at it! I am glad I can talk about it on here instead of boring everyone IRL.

Lovely run for me today, off road with loads of steep hills and hot so a few water and fuel breaks but still 8.75 miles in just under 1 hour 30 so that's all good!

Burmahere · 17/04/2014 23:12

Wow am so impressed with you all!

I did 3.7 miles in 53 minutes today which is utter rubbish but I'm steadily improving (only started properly 3 weeks ago too). That was walking and running. I need to follow a proper programme rather than just meandering along.

Did 5k on a treadmill the other day in just over half an hour , so much easier than out on the road with the wind buffeting you, cows to look at, cars to avoid etc!

Hello everybody!
I can't quite keep up with all the posts but yikes! Unlicensed Firearms?? Not what I was expecting to see on a runners thread!

I finally gave in to the pull last night, and took the dog out for a 3mile trail run taking it nice and slow. My knee still aches a little, but it's more like a bruise than a sharp pain IYSWIM?
It was just so nice to get out and get sweaty again Grin

Sirzy · 18/04/2014 10:06

Just over 3km done in 23 minutes. Would have loved to carry on further but got to go out at 10.30 so no time to.

Beautiful day though

Looks lovely Kristina, wouldn't fancy trying to get up that though!

orangeflutie · 18/04/2014 12:00

Hi have just been reading through to catch up as I've not posted for a while. Can't believe you were shot at Mitchy, think that would have shaken me up quite a bit!

This weather is lovely for running but have had to rest most of this week due to aching thighs and a sore right foot and toes due to Sunday's efforts. It took me until Weds to be able to walk downstairs normally lol! I finally got out again for a run this morning. It was lovely seeing bluebells etc. I did 4 miles and was tempted to go a bit further but glad I didn't as my legs ache a bit now. Guess I'm going to have to take it steady for a while and give myself time to recover. Having said that though I'm already looking into doing another smaller race or two. Considering another half later on and or a fun run. Has anyone on here done Barns Green half in Horsham? It's at the end of Sept and am wondering... Would like something else sooner too.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/04/2014 12:57

Hello runners, I did 6 and a half this morning, although my garmin cut out somewhere during the first mile so I had to re-start it. Which means that my garmin is telling me I have run 26.22 miles in the last week. I can't imagine doing that all in one go Smile

Shock at Mitchy's shooting incident.

Liking your loation Kristina

Glad you got out Thursday and Sirzy

Hello to all runners old and new Smile

Mitchy1nge · 18/04/2014 16:20

Envy of kristina's landscape

I shouldn't have mentioned the shooting thing, it would have been awful if he was purposely aiming at me but really you'd have to be very very close to be killed by a shot gun wouldn't you? it prompted me to wear my HRM strap for today's bike rides anyway in case some new incident helped me exceed my maximum HR Grin (pretty much every time I see a car)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2014 17:35

No running for me today been to a dog show :)

Glad you got out ThursdayConsuelaLast and glad it went well.

Not very nice day here today but looks beautiful where you are KristinaM!

dementedma · 18/04/2014 17:40

I managed 11 minutes today without stopping and that was 1.5k. 5 minutes more than my previous best of 6 minutes. God, its hard though....

EauRouge · 18/04/2014 17:42

Fantastic, well done! The first 10 minutes or so is always the hardest part of a run, I always bloody hate it. It does get easier once you find your pace.
