roquefortlover · 17/04/2014 10:56

Yay Sirzy and polka! You will be marathon ready before you know it. Hooray for your DH eau, I will be joining you outside shortly. Glorious day here so might go off-road I think.

cinnamongreyhound · 17/04/2014 11:07

Well done Sirzy and polkaSpottyDotty!

Glad you got out EauRouge!

I am off today so I had a midweek run after 6am which is nice! Met my speedy friend and did a couple of 8min something miles Shock back for 9 and climbed back into bed with a cuppa yuk and still here!

roquefortlover · 17/04/2014 11:18

cinnamon that does sound fast.

CQ have you gone yet? Grin

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 17/04/2014 11:38

What a gorgeous morning for running. It's getting quite warm out there now though.
Well done Sirzy and Polka I hope you're enjoying the post run glow!
I went out along the tow-path this morning, lots of birds and butterflies about. It was just lovely. I managed 5k in 30.15, inching closer to the elusive sub 30mins!!
I also went out yesterday evening with DS as he wants to do some "training" for the rainbow run. We did run/walk 2min intervals and he did 2.5k in 21mins so he was very pleased! He would definitely have managed more if he had stopped talking even once all the way round!!
I hope you all have a great day whatever you're doing, running or resting.

postmanpatscat · 17/04/2014 12:53

Well done this morning's runners especially polka

DP and I were going to go out and run but we are childless today and we didn't Blush We are up and dressed now though and will go later.

I have put on at least 2kg more than I want to be, so back on 5:2 for me today. I can run fasted, I just go slower.

Hi Indians, well done on your run today. If you want to go further, it's fine to run slower. Try going 3.5 miles next time, then build up gradually.

For those of you trying to get your 5km time down, one thing that helps is doing little bits of your run faster than usual, then you can jog or even walk until you catch you breath, then do it again. If you run In a Town you could decide you will run a certain number of lampposts or to the end of the block. I run in the country so I do it by time - not very long, just 45-90 seconds.

The time for the training run when you do this will be slower over all than your usual Time. And you will be more tired than after a run at your usual pace. But aftre a few weeks of doing this , hopefully your Parkrun time should improve .

Mitchy1nge · 17/04/2014 15:29

I had a very nice very small (about 2 miles) run with some spaniels in which I almost got shot by an unlicensed person driving a suspiciously urban 4x4 aiming at pigeons out of the window Hmm in the middle of nowhere where there is no public right of way, that is quite naughty, lucky I wasn't on a nervy horse, lost one of the spaniels (he just went home) but that prompted me to pester the farmer for a 20 bore or a .410 (not so I can shoot back next time Grin but haven't done any shooting for ages and the pigeons are a bit numerous)

it made me think how much fun it would be to do a sort of pentathlon because then I went off on various rides

am hoping running 2 or 3 miles every other day for a few weeks will help me sneak up on my own muscles and tendons, tomorrow am planning a 20 mile bike ride (10 miles to pub, refuel, 10 miles back to town) and this will give me my distance and endurance fix while I am PATIENT about running

Sirzy · 17/04/2014 15:36

Hi Indians.

Kristina, that is the method I am going with. When I go flat out I shock myself how fast I can go just need to keep slowly building those times.

When Ds is back at school next week I am going to try for 2 runs working on building speed and one plodding steady run building distance.

Will get tehre in the end!

talking of podge I was getting worried about being squishy but updated trendweight says it is stable over the past week and up 0.2kg over the previous month, I've gained 0.7 in total over last 90 days

which is really not the end of the world or a serious slide towards being overweight (I tried to give up my food diary and weight monitoring for lent but it's practically Easter now so I can resume my sad hobby properly!)

Sirzy · 17/04/2014 15:37

Sounds scary mitchy, shooting back may stop him being so daft in future!

Sirzy · 17/04/2014 15:38

My weightloss seems to have stagnated which is annoying. I cant get too upset because I have lost 4.5 stone in the last 11 months but I was desperate to get to 5 stone before the 12 months mark but can't see it happening now

Mitchy1nge · 17/04/2014 15:44

am not allowed to go for a run with the gun or to take it with me while riding though :( a .410 is pretty small but it's a bit big for lolloping around with at any sort of speed

you've done amazingly well sirzy :) the last bit is always the hardest isn't it?

I did set a goal of losing about 7kg (15lbs?) of what I calculated to be extra body fat but I can't quite knuckle down to it plus I don't trust my maths plus I would probably not have any boobs left

Sirzy · 17/04/2014 15:50

Ye you wouldn't want to accidentally set it off while running either.

Thanks, I am lucky that my boobs haven't changed size as I lost weight!

How is it that some days the legs just don't want to run?

Did a short run this morning- and it was like wading through treacle. Ugh.

Must have been the vast amounts of cava drunk the previous day..

emummy · 17/04/2014 16:53

Bought a cool new running t shirt this morning and have now been accused of being obsessed! That can't be right, can it?Tell me I'm not alone please!

EauRouge · 17/04/2014 16:55

Good news- I did go for a run today.

Bad news- Major ITB pain. So will have to skip Parkrun and hope that it's better for Monday, otherwise I'll have to miss my race as well :(

KristinaM · 17/04/2014 17:29

Eau rouge -have you tried one of these foam rollers for ITB? I've just got one which I'm using for back pain. It's sore but seems to be helping .

Mitchy -you realise that what you call " being patient " isn't very, don't you? And you are scaring the towns people with your talk of guns Wink

I would have been taking the index number of that vehicle for the police. Horse could have bolted or worse. What a **

Sirzy · 17/04/2014 17:31

I hate runs like that lazypepper

I think I am obsessed with running!

What's ibt?

OP posts:
Sirzy · 17/04/2014 17:31

Itb even

OP posts:
EauRouge · 17/04/2014 17:40

I have a foam roller, I usually just use it for my quads but I'll be giving my ITB a good seeing to and then having a soak in the bath tomorrow. Alcohol will help, right? And chocolate.

Sirzy, everything you need to know about ITB. Apart from how to make it instantly, magically better Angry

Mitchy1nge · 17/04/2014 17:42

oh I made a note of the registration, that's how I know they don't have a firearms certificate

sorry to hear that Eau, I swear by the foam roller too (mine is blue and apparently they are not hard enough to properly help) sirzy it's ilio-tibial band

KristinaM · 17/04/2014 17:42

Alcohol and chocolate will definitely help. If taken internally, not applied topically . I find coffee Ice cream is also good
