Well done Dementedma :)

Kristina, that looks lovely. I am loving all the pictures of running locations.

well done demented :)

eau how's the IT band?

EauRouge · 18/04/2014 18:32

Bit better, thanks. I foam rollered it yesterday. Has anyone ever done that? Holy fuck, it hurts.

PolkaSpottyDotty · 18/04/2014 18:34

Oh that view is gorgeous!

Well done to everyone :)

Mitchy1nge · 18/04/2014 18:36

the hurty bits are the areas that need the roller aren't they?

it's harder than it looks I think, once I logged it on MFP as part of my exercise for the day because a whole session with it is fucking effortful in a way that, frankly, a leisurely plod just isn't!

hope it helps, you have a race coming up very soon you said?

EauRouge · 18/04/2014 18:37

Whereabouts do you live, Kristina?

EauRouge · 18/04/2014 18:38

Yes, it's on Monday. I think I'm going to do it anyway but treat it as a recovery run. It's only 5 miles so I should be fine if I take it easy. Then I might have a week off. I've got a 10k coming up in a couple of weeks so don't want to overdo it before then. Bloody good timing, eh? Hmm

Mitchy1nge · 18/04/2014 18:55

I never quite grasped the concept of the Recovery Run although they are on every distance plan I've seen pretty much

will look out for your updates on Garmin

which reminds me, am NOT coping with the new garminconnect layout at all!

which also reminds me, anyone have a vivofit for everyday life? would it be too much to have one in addition to the watch?

emummy · 18/04/2014 18:55

Eau, I use the foam roller a lot and yes it does hurt! Seems to get better though. I'm going for a sports massage this week and I think that might be a wee bit agony! Lovely mountains Kristina, look like the view I saw on my trip to Ballater through the week. What a lovely route you have to run

Blatherskite · 18/04/2014 19:30

Half marathon number 2 done.

Finished in 2:06:24

KristinaM · 18/04/2014 19:35

Now go and eat that pizza and come back later with a full race report please Grin

Mitchy1nge · 18/04/2014 19:36

well done blathers! :)

PolkaSpottyDotty · 18/04/2014 19:39

Blathers, that's incredible!! Well done!!

ThursdayConsuelaLast · 18/04/2014 19:44

Yay Blathers!
Well done you!

KristinaM · 18/04/2014 19:46

Emummy -sadly I don't live here, I'm just here in Speyside for a week on holiday with DH /kids. I've been going out first thing each morning while they are all still in bed.

I've got to keep gong with my training plan because I'm doing my first ever half marathon next month. Ive only got one recovery week and one normal week of training to go before I start to taper.

Not that I'm panicking or anything.no not me.

Sirzy · 18/04/2014 19:48

Well done blathers!

Well done Blathers - fantastic run. Bet you're still on a high after that!

I did get out for my run yesterday morning - thanks for the encouragement everyone! It was glorious, did just over 4.5 miles and felt like I could have gone further but CQdog1 had seriously had enough by then.

Today I have mostly sat on my arse eating. House full of visitors which was lovely but I am actually looking forward to getting out and running off this bloated feeling tomorrow.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/04/2014 19:59

Hooray for Blathers. That's amazing!

Well done demented and CQ on your runs.

Standingonlego · 18/04/2014 20:26

blathers fabulous - 7 mins!!! Well done everyone, now go easy on the wine anyone that is running tomorrow :)

EauRouge · 18/04/2014 20:36

Wow, well done Blathers! That's a fantastic time.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/04/2014 21:04

Should have said welcome Burmahere and iamMummyhearmeROAR!

Well done dementedma!

Fantastic blatherskite!!

Glad you got out CQ :)

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 18/04/2014 21:33

Wow blatherskite, that's impressive!

Well, my tiny achievement today was to finally clock under 30 mins for 5kms. Next goal, 25 mins! Smile

Blatherskite · 18/04/2014 21:33

Hmmm, I think that run might have been the last straw for one of my toenails Sad

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 18/04/2014 21:40

Thanks for the welcome!

Can I ask a question? A month ago when I was thinking of running for the first time I would have thought that my breathing would be an issue, that it would get so out of puff and feel like my lungs were on fire. That hasn't happened, in fact I quickly get into a comfortable rhythm.

My biggest issue is the heavy feeling in my legs, particularly my knees. It's really dragging me down. It's not a pain just a heavy leaden feeling.I'm wearing well fitting proper trainers, I warm up but maybe could do better. Is this something that I'll eventually get over or is it just me being a stone overweight and 43?

CQ · 18/04/2014 22:11

Hmmm, IamMummy - I'm about 4 stone overweight and 47 years old, and I don't get a heavy feeling unless I've been doing lunges and squats in the middle of a run. Could it just be that you've got tired?

Hopefully someone with more experience might be along soon. Good about the breathing though - that's a major breakthrough when you get that under control.
