Hi all, I've shamefully not managed to do any running in the last couple of week (various child & mine illnesses, visitors etc) but went out this morning, nominally to do wk6 r1 as thought I'd need to ease back into it (as I'd only got to wk6 r3 before) but actually felt ok and did 3k in 18.5mins which is a faster pace than I've managed before Smile now just need to actually manage 5k (4k is the furtherest so far).

Don't suppose I'll have much time in the next couple of weeks so my new year's resolution will be to get to 5k in 30mins by the end of January.

HalleLouja · 22/12/2013 12:26

I have run fat bitch run. Will now read it!

HalleLouja · 22/12/2013 19:02

Sore in a good way. As in getting my body moving. I have enjoyed my two runs so far. Feel like I am getting my mojo back. Just need to keep on it. I don't mind running in the rain. I can't do it on the icy ground and the grass was too water logged to run on.

Thanks for the welcome.

solveproblem · 22/12/2013 19:36

How are you planning your runs around Christmas?

I feel like I'm doing so well at the moment so I do t want to take a break and risk losing my mojo. Grin

I did w6r1 tonight, I think I'll do w6r2 tomorrow and then w6r3 on Boxing Day. Or is it weird to go running on Boxing Day?

Oh, and w6r1 felt so easy today after doing the 20 minutes on thursday, I love feeling how I'm getting fitter. Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 22/12/2013 20:07

It depends what you're doing! It's not weird at all, I know people that will be going. I'm going tomorrow and Tuesday and then again Saturday but that's because that's what suits what I'm doing with my family.

SAm running on Xmas Eve and boxing day. Then will run on the Saturday.

That's the plan. DH is taking DS to work with him on Xmas Eve and DD will be at nursery.

See all planned just need to go out and do it.

I think when things settle down I will go Tuesdays / Fridays / Sundays. That fits best around my work. Am going to try and run in day light as its nice to have a view.

RunRunRuby · 22/12/2013 20:40

I run Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, I'm quite looking forward to starting Christmas Day with a run! Xmas Grin might have to change my schedule over the weekend as I'm visiting family.

Tomorrow's run (week 7, run 2) is 26 mins solid running Shock seems quite a jump from run 20/walk 3/run 5 in last run, no more walking from now on! I like running but I love walking too so think I will miss it! Might try and incorporate some walking into my schedule, perhaps on rest days.

I've been sore this week as I downloaded a workout app called Seven and have started using it. It's a seven minute ish workout you do every day, the challenge is to do it for seven months. It's a HIIT type thing, pretty hard work! Running has definitely made a noticeable difference to my fitness as before I started C25K I wouldn't have managed the whole seven minutes :)

lookout · 22/12/2013 22:44

I'm with Ruby. I usually run on a Weds and am looking forward to getting up before everyone on Christmas Day for a run. Before the chaos descends! I also feel like solve that I'm on a roll and I don't want to mess up my rhythm!

solveproblem · 23/12/2013 06:47

Oh no, weather warnings for today and tomorrow. We might all have to til after Christmas anyway. Grrrrr.

HalleLouja · 23/12/2013 09:31

I hope the weather is ok for me to pop out tomorrow. I don't mind a bit of rain but proper downpours are beyond me.

RunRunRuby · 23/12/2013 09:37

I went out this morning, it rained heavily for a few minutes in the middle of my run but was fine apart from that, just a bit windy. Only four more runs until I'm finished Xmas Grin

TheLeastAccomplishedBennetGirl · 23/12/2013 09:49

Morning runners!

Thread had dropped off my active conversation list, but glad I found you all again

Just revving self up for today's run.

It's cold, wet and windy but since I can now run 5k without stopping, I've got the bug!

lookout · 23/12/2013 14:25

Ooh, my run was hard this morning. W4r1, and the last five min run nearly looked me. Was rainy but not too windy thankfully. Not sure about weds though. My hip is very sore this timeSad well done to those who made it out this morning and fingers crossed for the weather for the rest of the !

lookout · 23/12/2013 14:26

Killed me, not looked me.

TheLeastAccomplishedBennetGirl · 23/12/2013 15:18

Lookout, if your hip is sore, I'd rest up if I were you.

It's probably just a bit of a strain, especially if you're new to exercise, but running with an injury can cause further damage

lookout · 23/12/2013 16:06

It's been this way since September though TheLeast. I started running over the summer, was doing great, got proper shoes in September and the pain started not long after. So I had a break from September til 4 weeks ago. It got slightly better but never fully recovered. But I was missing running so much that I decided to try again anyway. It's not been too bad up until today when I really felt the running went up a notch. I can't be bothered to go to a doctor, not ever had great advice from them, and the last time I saw the local physio he basically just told me to stop running, rather than treating me and finding a way to help me continue. So I don't really know what to do next. I don't want to rest either because I really am fed up of being unfit (only started exercising in April at age 36 having not done anything since school Blush) and am loving this ct5k!

HalleLouja · 23/12/2013 16:18

Maybe its worth doing pilates lookout with someone who really knows what they are doing. That has help me lots.

HalleLouja · 23/12/2013 16:18

Helped me...

TheLeastAccomplishedBennetGirl · 23/12/2013 16:45

That's odd about the pain coming on after getting new shoes, did you have a gait analysis done at the same time?

lookout · 23/12/2013 17:39

Halle I have been doing pilates for about a year but stopped it at around the same time as I got the new shoes cos we are a bit strapped for cash generally. I'd love to take it back up, it was what got me interested in getting fit really as I started doing Barre Concept with the same instructor and it was awesome, but again, it's cost.

TheLeast yes I had my gait checked in the running shop, although I was too embarrassed to get on the treadmill and he just did it looking at how I stand. Maybe that wasn't enough? Incidentally (I mentioned upthread), I had awful knees before getting proper shoes and the new shoes sorted my knees out straight away!

HalleLouja · 23/12/2013 20:33

Maybe go back to the running shop and have a word maybe they could recheck and make sure you have the right shoes.

Also might be worth getting a pilates DVD to see if you can do some on the cheap. Not the same I know but it might help.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/12/2013 20:56

Sorry you're still suffering lookout, really do think its worth asking about the shoes!

Been out in the wind and rain tonight, few twigs/small branches fallen down but otherwise it wasn't too bad.

Am going out this morning for a run. Anyone care to join me?

TheLeastAccomplishedBennetGirl · 24/12/2013 08:57

Even though I went yesterday, am tempted

The sky is clearing and the wind and rain has stopped Xmas Shock

Might do a quick one - happy running!

lookout · 24/12/2013 09:14

I would but am resting my hip! Will pop back into the shop after Christmas and see if they can help. Thanks all for your lovely advice.
