hello I hope you are all well (skim read sorry)

encyclo I hope you are feeling ok whether you went out or not (hope you did) that was one stressful week, I hope dd settles well and all are happy with the new place

moshi imo do not throw it away, it is a recent loss and it is not wise to make emotional decisions now, all the first anniversaries are a rite in themselves and then later you will view things a little differently.
I still have a poem and two letters from my mother and it has been 27yrs, they were lost for about 15yrs, I am glad I have them, i don't look at them really but I like to know they are there

good luck to rhetorician & EmmaBemma for this weekend (unless I missed something)

here I am glad to be back running and have sorted a plan for the next 6 wks, am toying with gym membership, I think I get more use of it over the Winter anyway

I thoroughly enjoyed the Summer break but I am equally happy that school starts next week, the next 6 months are likely to be busy, at least I hope so

happy running

encyclogirl · 02/09/2011 21:48

Thank you for the arse kickings, it worked! I went out and did 5 and man it felt fantastic.

Bloody Hell it gets dark early doesn't it? Dd very pleased with herself, we're treating her to Nandos tomorrow for having such a good report from school.

Really stressed out before I went out and now feel achy (in a good way of course) and chilled.

Fanny isn't it an amazing little gizmo? I am so in love with mine.

Right then where'd I put those crisps...

Happy running tomrrow people. I'm doing 10 miles on Sunday morning. Scary thought, but I know I'm more than able for it.

peachsmuggler · 02/09/2011 22:07

I had a Becks Blue Wheely, and almost believed I was having a real beer. Am sure a good sleep with help with the positive thinking.

Ooh sfx, can you tell us more about the 6 week plan, or is it Top Secret? Wink

well done encyclo, you da man! And good on your daughter.

Hope you have swapped work for Friday night relaxing.

Going to build DD's bed tomorrow. Eek

peachsmuggler · 02/09/2011 22:09

Work comment was for Rhet. You'd think i'd learn to preview these posts eh?

Wheelybug · 02/09/2011 22:25

Well done peach - not long now until you can re-indulge !

sticky - to answer your question, I don't really have a local recommendation on physio which I think is part of the problem of going to one. And having dd2 in tow for a couple more weeks.

Oh well, off to bed and then to the gym first thing to see what I can do !

Wheelybug · 02/09/2011 22:26

oh sorry - and really well done encyclo ! Ihope your dd enjoys her treat tomorrow.

sfxmum · 02/09/2011 22:31

peachy top secret wink wink nod nod Grin no I just have not really recovered much form since the op in February and have dragged myself about half heartedly, so I entered a 10k and put a simple plan together to go on my diary and basically give me a kick up the arse
what can possibly go wrongHmmGrin

about children running at dd's club there is a running club but only from year 3, she is quite annoyed about that (y2) as she loved the race for kids her very first 5k, and has asked me to do race for life next year.

sfxmum · 02/09/2011 22:31

at dd's school not club that should be

YeahThatsTheBadger · 02/09/2011 23:16

Thanks for the plan moshi! I didn't get on here until after i'd been to the gym so didn't get to try it out tonight but I did use the other suggestions of podcast and switch focus on the tv. It was better!

Well done encyclo! Hope your dd enjoys her treat. Ooh-are you by any chance eating tayto's cheese and onion? I love them!

Good luck with the bed building peach! I'm not looking forward to putting dd in a normal bed only cos it went so well with ds that I couldn't possibly be so lucky second time around!

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 03/09/2011 06:32

Good Luck Rhet. You too EmmaBemma - hope the rain clears up for you by tomorrow - it's chucking it down here today.

cestlavie · 03/09/2011 07:06

Good luck rhet and Emma. Hope all the training pays off rhet... looks like a pretty nice morning for it here.

squix · 03/09/2011 07:23

rhet - good luck and you too Emma - looking forward to your race reports

peachsmuggler · 03/09/2011 07:28

Good luck Rhet and Emma!

futurity · 03/09/2011 07:33

Good luck Rhet and Emma! Smile

rhetorician · 03/09/2011 08:36

oh Blush I'm not running today - my friend (the other half of 'tortoise and hare' - I leave you to work out which one I was going to be :o) pulled out and it seemed too far and too costly to do just for me. But thanks for your good wishes anyway...

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 03/09/2011 10:21

That was an easy race hey Rhet? Wink

Blooming heck, I'm aching today after the intervals yesterday. Just shows you when you push your body out of comfort zone how your muscles react. I'd also spent 6 hours ripping a large border to shreds in our communal courtyard (no-one else looks after it Angry) (as well as occupying DD2 and DD3) and after spending hours with the shears, digging and weeding I couldn't sleep a wink. Hope feel better for tomorrow's last LSR

Happy running ladies!

N4NNY · 03/09/2011 10:27

I'm having a huge panic I've woken with a stinking cold it my half marathon a week tomorrow..... I'm not going to be able to run am I :( :( I'm gutted I'm taken to my bed to try and get well just need to hope it doesn't go on to my chest.

fannybanjo · 03/09/2011 11:12

N4NNY you'll most probably be fine - if it's just a cold a week is plenty to recover - you've done all your training so even if you don't run this week you'll still be fine on race day and to be honest, I've done some of my best runs after I've been ill as I find having the rest from running recharges me. Fingers crossed you'll be fine Smile

stickylittlefingers · 03/09/2011 12:44

N4NNY don't panic - but do really rest up and be nice to yourself. With a week to go you shouldn't be pushing it anyway. Go on, sit and watch the telly with a lemsip...

I did my first park run today! It was such a nice friendly event, I think I'm going to be a regular. Anyway, to stats: 5k (obviously) 28:12, 69th overall and 23rd woman. I was not going to push it with my LSR planned tomorrow, and I didn't exactly, but it's hard when there are lots of people running competitively not to get into the swing! So I took it easy at first, but then did get a bit bored and took it up a notch. After the GNR's done I might see what I can do with my 5k and 10k times. It's fun to run a bit quicker!

Hope your poor achey muscles are recovering Fanny, but you get lots of virtue points. Hope your 14 miles go well tomorrow, I'll think of you while I'm shuffling along in my running trance!

MoshiMoshi · 03/09/2011 12:45

Good luck Emma!

Panic not, N4NNY. A rest will do you good and shouldn't compromise your race next week.

Ended the week on a low note when I nearly twisted my ankle during mile intervals at 10K pace. I ended up aborting the intervals and jogged home to make it 9 miles for the session and 61 miles for the week. Cutback week next week and a 5K race at the weekend.

Have a good weekend all! Happy and injury free running.

stickylittlefingers · 03/09/2011 12:47

hey N$NNY, here's a direct quote from the RW email I got this week (for people doing HM on the 18th)

"With your training scaling down you'll have more time and energy, but now's not the time to become a social butterfly, tackle those DIY jobs or go cross-training. Instead, treat yourself by putting your feet up in front of the television while your body consolidates all that hard training. "

See!! You too, Fanny, put those blinking shears away woman...

rhetorician · 03/09/2011 12:49

moshi 61 miles! I am managing about 60+km...but if I ran as fast as you I'd probably cover as much ground in the same time...I really can't commit to any more time, but hopefully I will start to get a little faster and therefore increase my distance slightly over time.

Hope ankle will be OK

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 03/09/2011 12:53

sticky you doing 11 or 12 miles tomorrow? Excuse my ignorance but I can't remember if you've done GNR before - I've a few questions re zones and what time to get there etc.... If you can help me let me know!! Smile.

Moshi poor you, bet you nearly had a heart attack when ankle went - what with all this training you're doing, it would be devastating to get an injury just before your races.

Ladies I've definitely sprained my wrist Sad - it's swelling up and very painful. That's what happens when you give a crap about where you live - pity everyone else wasn't the same. Angry However DH now going to have to do the HUGE pile of ironing and may buy him a Man Iron for the journey...! Would I be best icing wrist and strapping it up?

fannybanjo · 03/09/2011 12:55

I know Rhet - 61 flaming miles! That's running that is however hats off to your 60km plus you bike everyday don't you?

I'm managing 30 miles a week and that's hard enough to fit in. Moshi no wonder your fast, you have to to fit it all in!!

fannybanjo · 03/09/2011 12:57

sticky I looked into parkrun too this week - well done! My nearest one is Manchester or Liverpool so may enlist my scouse mate and do Liverpool one in few weeks. Was it enjoyable?
