ho ho ho fanny; I'm sure there's more than a few Garmins been bought in compensation for other issues.

Knew we'd get you in the end...now, who's our next victim?

Well done DrNo, brIlliant time. I totally think you can do a sub 50 10k, and to do so I think you would be right to concentrate on 10k races for the rest of this year.

Wheely, am sure your patience will pay off, and think you'll be fine for GSR, just need to not jump the gun and keep resting it for a bit longer.

Rhet, ahhh toddler craziness, don't you just love it. My DD can be very er.. strong willed. She was pretty easy going at 2 but now at 3.5 she can be tricky and very determined, but lovely with it. Am absolutely sh*tting myself about her starting preschool in 2 weeks as I just can't see her settling very easily.

Had lovely weekend camping and am glad to report the travel potty was a marvellous thing. I didn't need it the first night but used it at 5am the second after lying awake for an hour trying to convince myself I could get back to sleep. Was really worried the bag would overflow as seemed to be litres of the stuff! DP was slightly appaled/impressed!

Think we are going to see some great training and races from everyone now the colder weather is getting here!

peachsmuggler · 30/08/2011 21:30

Yayyy Fanny, bet you are out first thing tomorrow trying it out!

rhetorician · 30/08/2011 21:30

peach - I'd say your DD will love preschool - great timing too, she should be settled by the time DD2 shows up. My DD seems to think it hilarious to ask DP to carry both the 'little gels' (as she says, with full glottal stop: my fault, from SE London) up the stairs. DP does not think this is at all hilarious.

With your travel potty you've no need to post on the thread for people who can't go to the loo except in their own (empty Confused) houses...

Oh no right, Thursday.

peachsmuggler · 30/08/2011 21:36

Oh I haven't seen that thread. Weirdos!!!

You see now, I really think she might hate it. She's not super sociable with other kids, although she isn't shy. We were away camping with two other little girls, who although admittedly younger, she just didn't show interest in at all. Feel like I need to talk to her more to prepare her for it but when I did two weeks ago ahe through herself on the bed saying she didn't want to go without me cos shed be upset. I am going to be in bits, I just know it.

peachsmuggler · 30/08/2011 21:38

Lol at "little gels".

fannybanjo · 30/08/2011 21:42

I've just literally sent DH into a coma reading reviews of the Garmin to him....Grin. I said "you can use it too if you want my love..". He didn't look enthusiastic!!

peach I thought of you while watching Dragons Den on Sunday - guess what a lady was pitching - a camping "potty"!!! Grin.

orangehead · 30/08/2011 21:44

All this talk of paces is making me jeaslous, my nikeplus broke about two months ago so have nothing now. Really need a garmin Envy

fannybanjo · 30/08/2011 21:44

Also peach - less said to your DD re pre-school the better, I sometimes make a big fuss about these things but DH is opposite and his way works! She'll get on fine - just be brave... Wink

fannybanjo · 30/08/2011 21:46

orange goeeee onnnnn, goeee onnnn, goeee onnnnn you know you want one...

sfxmum · 30/08/2011 21:46

peach about non very sociable little girls, my dd started going to nursery 3 mornings a week when she was 3, she did not engage much with other children but she never had problems being there/ separation.
she was however quite happy there and would observe others but choose to do her own thing

now at 6 and about to start year 2 she is still pretty much the same, she has friends but not keen on group stuff and much prefers adult company, I guess that is on account of being an only or maybe just her personality

she is quite confident and happy so I am not particularly worried
I guess you just have to see how it works and support her but also try not to project too much anxiety, it is hard I know

and about toddlers, dd was ok I think this 6 going on 16 is often infuriating and sometimes very amusing
'muuuum you are embarrassing me' 'don't care' 'boooring'Hmm

peachsmuggler · 30/08/2011 21:47

We just watched the repeat tonight Fanny!!! I thought, just get yourself a pottete love! Admittedly she did have a much bigger bag....

orangehead · 30/08/2011 21:49

oh she will love preschool Peachs, it will be good for her.
Lol fannybanjo, do you think he has got the hint yet that you want one?

orangehead · 30/08/2011 21:51

I do [stamps feet]

Piffpaffpoff · 30/08/2011 21:58

My DD starts preschool tomorrow! Yikes. She seems pretty excited but her mood can turn on a sixpence at the moment so I am bracing myself for a lot of wailing and screaming tomorrow (from her not me!)

I've been out and had a great run tonight. My longest run ever of 4.1 miles! I'm really pleased because I had a crappy week last week where I struggled a lot and had to stop a couple of times and it really knocked my confidence. However, I've had a good stern chat with myself and did 3.5 miles on Sunday and then 4.1 tonight so I'm feeling really good. Just got to bottle this enthusiasm/motivation somehow!

rhetorician · 30/08/2011 22:03

well done piffpaffpoff - I always try and remember when I've had a bad run (which happens pretty often :o) that it's not a particular day, or week, even that matters, but what you are doing over a much longer period. I find that helps me put things in perspective. And now you are back on track.

DD started nursery at about 20 months, but despite being very shy for a long time, did settle quite well and was never unhappy to go. It really helped that she quickly developed a good relationship with her key worker (now on mat leave), but she is starting to make friends (although this is very up and down and I can hardly keep track of who is in and who is out...)

orangehead · 30/08/2011 22:07

Well done on your run piffpaffpoff. Hope it all goes well tomorrow, more often its the kids that are fine and its the mums that come away crying. The kids often take us by surprise.

peachsmuggler · 30/08/2011 22:15

Thanks everyone, for the reassurance, hopefully won't be as bad as I imagine. sfx, your post made me well up actually and your DD sounds just lovely. I guess I just want her to be happy and am worried that she won't be. Maybe I am underestimating her.

Good luck tomorrow piff, hope DD has fun! Well done on your run too, great confidence booster!

Go on orange, get garminified, you know you want to!

Keep meaning to say Rhet, everytime you mention your running streak, I can't help but giggle as have visions of you running through the streets of Dublin nikkid!!!!! Ha ha!

futurity · 30/08/2011 22:57

rhet ...regarding not being able to see swimming without glasses...I've just got myself some prescription goggles for that very reason and they are amazing ! I can actually see the kids under water for the first time ever and the bubbles are so sharp and clear (yes I know I sound demented but it really was amazing!) . £19 from specsaversSmile

Please can someone tell me what a LRS is I keep seeing it mentioned and I don't know what it is. :(

I did a long run 13.1 miles on sunday my toes are bruised and painful think they are just going to recover in time for a repeat distance ouch ouch

bonkers20 · 31/08/2011 06:53

[shrug] Just googled LRS and the nearest I can find is Local Running Store. That doesn't seem right to me.

Lord know. MN has its own set of acronymns doesn't it!

bonkers20 · 31/08/2011 06:54

Where do you keep seeing it mentioned? I've just looked at this whole thread (in whole page format) and only see your mention of it.

Well done on your long run N4NNY

peachsmuggler · 31/08/2011 06:57

N4NNY, do you mean LSR? Long Slow Run. Well done on your run, sympathies on the toes! Are you sure your shoes are big enough?
