Maybe some of you will consider this a fresh topic, but I'm interested in it nevertheless.
Did you vote for or against Brexit?
And what were your reasons?

Lying. JRM knew Brexit would massively damage the UK. But it didn't damage him and that's what really matters.

He set up an EU office within days of the Brexit vote so his finances didn't suffer. Like many of the elite, it wasn't a bother to him. He actually profited from it and is doing quite well by all accounts.

Britain's working classes and middle classes got fucked by JRM's Brexit shenanigans.

And he knew that would be the result.

JRM already had an office in Dublin before he opened the second one in 2018. Ireland’s low corporate tax rate makes it attractive to investors worldwide.

Tommy Robinson may be a proponent of Brexit, but I don’t remember him ever being Prime Minister or an MP. His Irish passport is under scrutiny as he may have obtained it fraudulently.

I could have applied for an Irish passport via my father, but the average process time was estimated at 30 months. Plus the 90/180 Schengen guidelines allows me to work hybrid in the EU anyway since 2021.

Why aren’t you organising protest marches on parliament to demand that Brexit is cancelled?

Have you sent any instructions to the EU that if the UK applies to rejoin it must be accepted without a vote by all EU members? Remember that the EU offered a unilateral revoke in December 2018. So, why not again?

Lots of crying and whining, but not a lot of action by remain supporters.

The UK government needs to engage wit the EU to find out what the terms are to reverse what is possible in stages.
The UK is very much in the weaker position.

Why do Brexiters try to make everything emotive ? A remainer before the ref says " I think we should stay in" Brexiters say "PROJECT FEAR". Remainers afterwards say " Well, that was a mistake", Brexiters say " STOP MOANING AND WHINING".

Because logic isn't their thing.

Yup. And this is after I caught that poster changing a quote from a poll yesterday. Always avoid the facts and lets deflect is the mantra. When they run out of deflections then it becomes " WHY ARE YOU SO EMOTIONAL?"

Ahh well.

It's the Brexiters who moan and whine. They got what they wanted.

They seem to say they did not get what they wanted. I can't keep up. Some say they wanted a total break sooner, others say a lesser break later. And it is always someones fault that they did not get what they want.

Apart from Blue Passports. But they were not happy they were made in France.

Opinion polls are just that - opinions. They can’t be construed as fact. They contradict themselves in my view.

There will never be an outcome of a referendum or general election that pleases everyone. Voting would not be necessary if everyone thought the same.

With the benefit of hindsight, Project Fear is a fairly accurate description.

Did the 500,000 to 800,000 job losses happen (UK treasury report April 2016). No they didn’t.

Did the emergency budget (George Osborne 15 June 2016) which would ruin the country happen? No it didn’t.

Was the UK at the back of the queue for deal with the US (Obama April 2016 on UK TV)? No.

If you are looking for someone to blame, I would suggest, in order;

1st David Cameron. Made an offer of leave without a plan.

2nd Labour for changing their 2017 manifesto position of supporting leave, then switching to remain in the hope they could force and win an election.

The question presented to MPs on 29 March 2017 had two choices:

Leave or remain.

498 chose leave
114 chose remain

So, those who voted leave eventually got what they voted for almost three years later.

General point was that would remain/rejoin supporters not be better off taking action rather than posting the same lines on MN.

Farage started talking about UK leaving the EU in 1999, but it took over 20 years to happen.

But you quoted from an opinion poll above, and you changed what it said. You falsified an opinion poll to something you thought supported your case better.

I agree. Opinion polls are a snapshot. Don't like the results of this one? Give it a couple of days and another will come along to say whatever you want.

As you say, opinions aren't facts.
Opinions are easily manipulated construct.
Opinions are not reality.

Some on MN think that opinion polls and reports based on estimates and theoretical models can be extrapolated to reflect the view of the entire electorate. Particularly when they say something they want to hear.

I don’t think polls help. For example, latest YouGov poll for voting intention has:

Reform on 23%
Conservative on 21%
Labour on 20%

However, they are from small samples of a few thousand at best. Plus, the FPTP system in the UK makes percentages meaningless. The last general election demonstrated that well.

Labour have 63% of seats even though they received about 34% of the vote.
