(previous thread)

That's "king" as a suffix not a prefix. Also part of a phrase.

I agree. Definitely a benefit.

They were interviewing people the other day who were still insisting that Brexit just hasn't been done properly and we just need to believe harder.

Why do they get a second bite of the cherry then ?

Esther McVey - Minister for "common sense"!

I didn't think we could get anyone less suited to their role than Cruella Braverman, but they continue to make us a laughing stock for the world...

I quite like the alternative name....Suella De Vil

Is the tide turning? Even Laura Kuenssberg is getting in on the act.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67530919

I suspect the BBC have seen the writing on the wall and are now preparing for life under a different regime. In much the same way Murdochs rags will have always supported Labour.

I was just thinking the same re Thatcher. I n 1979-80 people couldn't get enough of her. By 1990 no one admitted to voting for her, yet they must have done for her to have had 11 years in power.

It's also the same with these threads. We are still going, although at a slower rate, but where are the people who used to frequent the Brexit Arms? It looks as though it closed down about 5 years ago.

And now Brexshit Britain is trying to interfere with the government of another sovereign nation, namely Rwanda!

And now Brexshit Britain is trying to interfere with the government of another sovereign nation, namely Rwanda!

I have picked rumours of this up around the web,. but there isn't any reliable reporting.

As I understand it, one of the bright ideas Rish! had, to ram the Rwanda deal through was to basically send a crack team of UK officials over to Rwanda (and since they weren't originally planned for, this is an extra cost) who would oversee the Rwanda court system and prevent it from repatriating asylum seekers to their home countries.

Apparently the Rwandan government is rather frosty about the suggestion that they give up power to a bunch of unelected bureaucrats. The word "sovereignty" may have been mentioned.

Thanks. I saw that story this morning, but didn't read far enough to get to the added details.

I wonder how the Rwandans feel about this ? I suspect there is probably a lot of regret building up that what should have been a very discreet get-rich-quick scheme for the right people has now blown up into something so toxic they have no option but to dump it.

And in "colour me shocked" news, the EU NZ trade deal is vastly better than the UK NZ one. Including;

Unprecedented social and climate commitments.
Protection of traditional EU products.
Tariff Rate Quota protections for EU farmers.

Rather than actually selling out their farmers. Just think, we could be benefiting from this now...

How sorry should we be about those losing their jobs with the loss of the fishing industry? How many of those involved voted Leave? It's worth reminding them that there was a choice to vote for Remain. We didn't all believe the Leave charlatans.

PokeyLaFarge · 29/11/2023 12:19

Not sorry at all

The EU transition period ended on Dec 31st 2020. Since then, do you think Brexit has gone well or badly?

Well: 12%
Neither well nor badly: 20%
Badly: 61%

Dominic Cummings has so much to answer for. The despicable shit. As does the dreadful Nigel Farage and Jacob Rees Mogg. Smug. Entitled. They’re all petulant men children stamping their feet, holding their breath yelling pay attention to me. I’m special. But why oh why do people listen or vote for them?

PokeyLaFarge · 30/11/2023 08:20
