Part 10 of our long running thread.

Not sure what to say, really, other than it is worse than I feared.

Strap in, folks. It's gonna be a rough ride...

Checking in, how is everybody enjoying the ongoing Trussterfuck?

HannibalHeyes · 04/10/2022 09:34

The constant repeated phrases from Truss et al is so effing irritating.

You can be pro Brexit, or you can be pro growth. You can't be both...

Lonelycrab · 04/10/2022 10:22

Aint that the truth. Posted this one before but here’s a graph of U.K. investment. 2016 it seemed to go downhill. Can’t think why…

Gove was a disaster at Education, but at the Ministry of Justice he was very competent, so yes, he could make a decent Opposition Leader.

TheABC · 04/10/2022 13:52

I would love to think we will get a GE in the near future, but I can't see Truss announcing one or the Tories supporting a Vote of No Confidence as they know they will lose their job, if the polls are correct. We're stuck with them until the term finishes.

Is there something I have overlooked?

IrisVersicolor · 04/10/2022 16:56

So is this the de facto politics forum?

IrisVersicolor · 04/10/2022 16:59

I mean the whole ‘Brexit’ forum not just this thread. I’ve been scooting around looking for a politics forum here to discuss the demise 🤞🏼 of the Tories.

Well, this is the politics forum for those who have not partaken of the Brexit and Tory kool-aid. We actually come from across the political spectrum, we just agree that Brexit is a clusterfuck of epic proportions and that our current government is a shower of shit and that this last is being unkind to excrement.

IrisVersicolor · 04/10/2022 17:09

Good I have found my people.

So no dedicated politics forum here? Or tech? But that’s for another day.

Brexit ain’t over, it’s the gift that keeps giving.

Hi Iris these are really good threads, as are the other series of political threads on this site, the big dog ones are good too.

There is a politics sub forum, and also a tech one, if you go to the main talk index and look under “other” you’ll see them there. Hth.

Nah
But we've been around a good while 🙂

Never mind, just spotted the answer is yes 😅

HannibalHeyes · 04/10/2022 18:10

Oh dear. Isabel Oakshitt is finding the consequences of her actions...

Words · 05/10/2022 06:54

I noticed the subtle blame shifting to their support and comms staff over the mini budget chaos: failed to prepare the groundwork/ distractions from HMQ's funeral.

Anyone else?

More to follow, I am absolutely certain.

Peregrina · 05/10/2022 08:24

Sacking the top Civil Servant at the Treasury didn't help. I wonder who was responsible for that? Could it have been Truss and Kwarteng themselves?

@ILeclercreturn welcome back!

DuncinToffee · 05/10/2022 11:51

Wow 'Brexit deniers' is now a thing...

ILeclercreturn · 05/10/2022 12:25

Thanks BTBQ and Jason. I have just lurked since 'whenever' and this thread is one of the regular places to look for news among a few Youtube channels.
There is not really much one can say about 'Bexit' as the degree of all round craziness gets ramped up. In splendid isolation here in France it actually takes effort to find anyone interested in it. I noticed some determined cut and pasting on another thread yesterday. A handy bingo card of 'We told you so's ' would be mildly entertaining. The lies told by the leave campaigners obviously made a deep impression because they are still being told.
However, Onwards and upwards and as Chevyimpala67 says winter is coming.
For no good reason at all I still wonder if she was one of previous usernames some 4 years ago. I wish you all well.

DrBlackbird · 05/10/2022 12:45

Thanks @Chevyimpala67 for new thread.

It’s a direct line from Brexit - - > Tory party imploding over ridiculously unnecessary and mendacious battle cries of sovereignty - -> subsequent sh*t show of UK politics and politicians. And repeat.

This is all we have now….
