Don't know if any of the old crowd still mooch around in here??
I haven't been around since early this year

Anyhoo - Yay! It is DONE! 😍 🇬🇧 🍻

I'm one of the old crowd, glad to be back in the arms! Xx

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 24/12/2020 15:44

But are you actually happy with the deal? The Brexit Arms was full of people like mummmy2017 who categorically wanted no deal. So how does this match up to the Brexit you all wanted?

And Brexit was 'done' at the beginning of the year. So it's wrong to say it's 'done' now. That ship sailed ages ago.

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/12/2020 15:48

I’m searching to site for Brexit threads and finding not much. Surely there should be jubilation there’s no No Deal!! That’s what everyone seemed to be massively stressed about.

Some Brexiteers will be gutted we have a deal.
justanotherneighinparadise · 24/12/2020 15:52

Well I’m pleased. The thought of a no deal Brexit is well as a variety of mutant covid variants was making January seem very glum indeed.

yellowspanner · 24/12/2020 15:54

I'm also a refugee from the the Arms. Name changed.
Yay we are out and Boris has done it.
👏👏👏🥂🥂🥂🥂🍾🍾🍾

yellowspanner · 24/12/2020 15:57

I would have been happy with no deal but am very happy with this deal.
No ECJ , most of our fish back and 5.5 years transition.
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
The nay sayers said it couldn't be done, but we've done it

RoSEbuds6 · 24/12/2020 15:57

Yes I’m relieved too, there must be a catch though, as both Boris and Ursula looked happy

mummmy2017 · 24/12/2020 16:09

No deal was because of what used to be on the table.
ECJ is replaced by 3rd party.
We can prosper and isn't a free trade deal definitely not BINO.

billysboy · 24/12/2020 16:12

Just waiting for all of the bitching and moaning about the contents of the deal , could go on for years yet so dont close The Brexit Arms just yet

Kaliorphic · 24/12/2020 16:17

I'm glad this part is finished tbh. Now we can start moving on.

EleanorTopaz · 24/12/2020 16:17

Would have been happy with No Deal, but this deal seems reasonable so I am celebrating tonight. 🥂🍾🇬🇧

BrandySours · 24/12/2020 16:18

Hi former Arms-ers! 😍

I've been away from MN for most of the year - all got too toxic with the Covid stuff etc & I've had a load going on at home too

Thought a Brexit Arms thread might be a beacon for all our fellow travellers over the last 4 & half years for a final rally & celebration 🇬🇧🍻

My god it's been a long slog 😩
But we did it 🍾🎉

I'd have been ok with no deal if it came to it, but had always been in the 'prefer a deal' camp

Will be interesting to see the detail...

Obvs though, I can't WAIT to see Keir to whip for abstention, SNP to bang on about independence & Lib Dems to press for an extension in the coming debate... 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank goodness Boris took the gamble last year & went for a GE
It changed EVERYTHING!! 😍😍

A used to frequent the Arms and am definitely relieved we have a deal. I always said we would manage with no deal. As far as I'm concerned saying we could manage will no deal was always a negotiating tactic, you have to play hard ball with these people. Will be getting out the bubbly tonight!

TomatoCultivator · 24/12/2020 16:22

I’m an old regular at the Arms (name changed) and I’m delighted that there’s a deal.

HeyHeyImABeLeaver · 24/12/2020 16:35

Another of the old crowd here (name changed)

It would be rude not to pop in and join you all in a glass of 🥂🍾 - well done Boris, he has done what he said he would when the naysayers and the media were deriding him. A deal is such a relief after the angst of the last 4 years. 🇬🇧🇬🇧

Will Macron use his Veto I wonder?🤦🏻

larry5 · 24/12/2020 16:42

I am so pleased that we have a deal but I was not surprised that it went to the wire as each side was waiting for the other to blink and I don't think the EU really believed that Boris wouldn't back down.

I am looking forward to next year with the fact we are finally out of the EU and also that vaccinations have started for Covid so hopefully the New Year will be a fresh start for the UK.

Thistimetamorrow · 24/12/2020 16:51

Another old Armer checking in.
Waves to Brandy.

I really thought Boris would take it to No Deal but glad a compromised deal has been reached.
Just the vote on 30th to get through to make it official.

To new beginnings 🥂

Toptotoeunicolour · 24/12/2020 16:58

Given that Macron did what the EU told him to when it came to re-opening the borders, I doubt very much he'll use his veto!

Toptotoeunicolour · 24/12/2020 17:00

Very pleased too. Yes there will be imperfections in the deal as expected in any negotiation, but what they achieved is extremely difficult. Onwards and upwards now. Glad that people managed to stay positive throughout in spite of so much negativity, so let's enjoy the moment.

HeyHeyImABeLeaver · 24/12/2020 17:35

and that sums it up in a nutshell really!! so pleased we are stepping out on our own 😊

TomatoCultivator · 24/12/2020 18:07

I don't think the EU really believed that Boris wouldn't back down

I agree and I wonder if remainers such as Tony Blair and Lord Adonis told the EU to hold out as UK would back down.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/12/2020 18:13

I've never been in here ... I was looking to see what MN collectively thinks of the deal and this is the only Brexit thread in active convos.

So, I guess it's a massive anticlimax for most of us.

Ot maybe teatime on Xmas Eve most of us have better things to do!Grin

yellowspanner · 24/12/2020 18:14

Brandy sours , thanks so much for reopening the Arms.
We are already on our second bottle of champagne.
Well done Boris. 7 more days and we are finally out altogether
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🍾🍾🍾🍾🥂🥂🥂🥂
