Hurrah!
Right now I'm not sure what to think about what's going on right now!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 13/12/2020 11:58

That the EU team have the patience of a saint!

The EU team must be exhausted!
It seems a bit more hopeful today though I think ? Or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

AldiIsla · 13/12/2020 12:05

Talks extended.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 13/12/2020 12:07

I dunno. Depends whether BoZo cares that he has been rumbled as a liar and what they think will do most damage to the party: people believing their liars and withdrawing their vote or people being hit by no deal and withdrawing their vote. Rest assured, it'll be whatever benefits the party, not the country, which wins out.

They're liars. Auto sodding incorrect!

Tetris is right! Constantly looking for one more little space to stow stuff! I have to stop. It's addictive! Grin

willsantausesantatize · 13/12/2020 12:08

Ursula looked so fed up and tired.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 13/12/2020 12:09

My landing is jammed with peanut butter, UHT milk and wheat biscuits! Cupboard Tetris ended ages ago! Grin

After 18 months, I've finally managed to get my stash put away in the cupboard under the stairs. (it had all the Christmas decorations in there up until 2 weeks ago!) it now looks really neat but it doesn't look very much 😱

BlackeyedSusan · 13/12/2020 14:26

I am going to do the shop later and buy according to shape of packages and space left. It is a fucking nightmare. with fucking stuff everyfucking where...

nice title. cupboard tetris.

I am moving things about so I can get the Christmas tree up. the space where the Christmas tree is going tobe filled with cereal boxes.

we have enough food to feed an army for a decade. (well it feels like that when I fall over the bloody stuff in the living room, kitchen , landing, dds, room. even the bathroom has bags of sanitary towels and cleaning stuff.

I have just taken a break from sorting out old toys so I can move my yarn stash there so I can put the tree up. I am going to put some of the stash in the back of the yarn cupboard and hide behind yarn that is not going to be used until the christmas tree is down again.

PMK. Tesco shop arriving later. Then I think a final stock check to see if there’s stuff I’ve forgotten. And will nip to shops and top those things out later.

I feel like I was more prepared last year tbh.

I’m thinking juice, batteries & fresh fruit/ veg are probably the things I could do with. Might get some more baking stuff just in case.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 13/12/2020 16:45

We're trying to keep a higher - rolling - stock of the fruit and veg we eat. If we can get through 7-10 days from the stocks then DH can go into Aldi on the school run each day and pick up stocks as and when they appear once there are shortages, to keep it topped up.

Look up sellers of Procell batteries on eBay. They're really good and much cheaper than shop-bought batteries.

I’m trying tinned potatoes in the air fryer tonight.

goodname · 13/12/2020 16:57

Hmm tinned potatoes in an air fryer sound interesting 😊 let me know how they go

goodname · 13/12/2020 17:01

I need more freezer space to stock up on the only chicken nuggets ds likes. He has a very basic menu of either some type of plain meat, chicken or chicken nuggets with various raw veg and fruit every night for dinner. It’s not the worst diet in the world and he’s very healthy but I worry it will be hard to do after Brexit. Tonight he had chorizo, cucumber,, tomatoes, peppers, cheese and apples with crackers. Other ds and husband are eating haggis, turnip and mashed potatoes, they should be easier to feed on their very Scottish diet after Brexit 😀

LegoPandemic · 13/12/2020 17:06

Checking in- totally freezer Tetris here!
Luckily I have 3 freezers

Paranoidmarvin · 13/12/2020 17:43

@goodname I just tested one. They are not bad.

FraggleShingleBellRock · 13/12/2020 17:50

I've done toned pair in the air fryer and after a bit of experimenting they were very good. The best result- dried thoroughly, then tossed in sun flower oil. I cooked them on 230 until crisp and seasoned them with salt, pepper and smoked/paprika. Delicious!

ActonBell · 13/12/2020 18:03

Smile I’m new here - hello! Your thread has me a bit concerned. We did some stocking up the last time a crash out seemed to be on the horizon but I was under the impression that this time around things were a little bit more in hand. Don’t get me wrong - the PM doesn’t know his arse from his trade deal but big companies at least have had more time to prepare. Everything I’m reading suggests disruption would be for 1 month, 3 at most, and would only be for a few types of goods. In most cases it would be less choice rather than outright shortages. So you can have fresh fruit, just not pineapples this week, for example. Then after that things will be on the shelves bit more expensive - which is a big deal but something we have to adjust to, as there’s no way round it. Am I completely deluded? We have bit of a stock of toilet rolls, tinned toms, pasta, etc. But am I totally misreading the situation? Thank you! Sorry if I’m being an idiot!

Paranoidmarvin · 13/12/2020 18:09

@ActonBell I don’t know what to expect. But I will not be without food again. I have allergies to lots of food and couldn’t get hold of my food for weeks. I’m not getting caught out this time.
I don’t know what to expect. But I have prepped for just incase. If I don’t need it I will have weeks of never having to go to the supermarkets.

Whenwillow · 13/12/2020 18:17

My stock has been gathered over the last 20 months, Acton (I was late to the party for the original brexit date) My answer is - I don't know, but, if there appear to be any shortages of anything, I expect people to think 'oh shit' and stock up a little. And as we saw earlier this year, that caused empty shelves very quickly. The supply chain was able to readjust quite quickly thankfully.
My concern this time is that with what looks like definite disrupt at the borders, any shortages will take much longer to sort (though I am looking at one to three months too)
I know food retailers are stocking up but I'm sure that warehouse space must be limited to a degree.
A lot of posters on these threads have children with very restricted diets, and in their shoes I'd stock up more.
In our house we are happy to eat anything really, so have just made sure the larder and freezer are 'well stocked' to quote my old grandma, and we have an emergency supply of tinned goods and rice/pasta so a) we don't starve if it's worse than expected b) I can help out friends and family if necessary and c) I'm hoping to continue to donate to the foodbank.
