Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

We are temporarily under new management but worry not, the ship is still steady as we sail on to 12 December. A quick recap of the events of the last week or two:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔😂🤣😂🔥💨⛈🌥🌦🌤☀️

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

Congrats Comrade lily! You will do a fine job!

Mine’s a swiss cheese 🧀 sandwich 🥪 . With a sliver of rationed Marrow Jam please. Washed down with a big mug of victory gin.

For dessert, a big slice of ‘gone off’ hypocrisy pie.

Ohhh, good morning. Nice to see the the rotating management of the EU BA is in your capable hands Lily.

I think its time to start prepping for a Corbyn crash and the end of our capitalist democracy if he manages to get a minority government. I def need to get a wheel barrow to keep wedges of cash in when hyper inflation starts. Also need a coal+candle delivery so when the lights go out I still have heat/light.

Any advice on how to defend my family from the momentum hordes that will be roaming the streets to steel our futures?

SingingLily · 27/11/2019 09:18

Welcome, Comrade Epic. All on the menu. The kitchen is working on your order now.

Fabulous meme - thank you!

Apologies for my rant on the other thread. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I just can’t believe what I am seeing from ‘some’ quarters.

Fwiw, I wholeheartedly love democracy to my core too, hence my anger about the brexit chicanery and my huge fear that the current Labour lot, will merrily erode true democracy if they get near power. After all, it’s straight out of the marxist playbook isn’t it? Tell people they have a vote, because it’s all about the people, as long as the people vote the way They are told to.

time4chocolate · 27/11/2019 09:22

Good work comrade SingingLily, just popping in for a quick Brew and looking forward to a good catch up later (bit of a manic day today).

SingingLily · 27/11/2019 09:25

Morning, Walking, worry not. We have a contingency plan in place. It's all round to ours. I have a well-stocked freezer and can feed the entire street. I've stockpiled bottles of water. We have an open fireplace (well, this is the West Country) so the kettle will be forever singing.

Just bring any spare soap, toothpaste, etc. I already have those stockpiled too but we will need them as tradeables because the currency will be worthless.

I don't see problems, I see opportunities (said one Bright Young Thing to me at work once before I threw him out of my office Grin)

Morning and welcome, Time4chocolate, a Brew before you go.

Epic, that's why we love you.

I really like the humour and positivity and measured discussion in the Brexit Arms. It was nice to read through it yesterday, especially after the utter insanity on the Conservative thread. I also got embroiled in a thread about cultural appropriation that almost made my head explode.

I’m going to hide out over here I think - I cant take the stress and emotion and po-faced political correctness of those other threads. Cheers all.

SingingLily · 27/11/2019 09:28

Morning, Jilly, Brew for you and welcome!

Good morning all.

Been catching up on a few threads across MN. A lot of talk about the Corbyn interview but momentum are doing a good job to deflect and talk about BJ being a liar as per the script.

So just wanted to start the thread and morning off with a transcript re low earning pensioner paying more tax under Corbyn and analysis from the times which confirms the tax rises.

Just wouldn’t want anyone across MN to keep spouting the lie that only the rich will pay Wink since liar politicians are hated.

Morning, Holly, and a Brew for you.

That's a timely reminder that the Corbyn-deniers are out in force today, folks, so the glitterball jar is under the till with the honesty box.

Yes, Holly, those screenshots tell the truth. AN did a fantastic job. Let's hope the truth starts to percolate through to those stool undecided.

Morning all, A Bacon Butty please 'new landlady'.
Just popping in and out I'm afraid, got a lot on today.

Did hear on Radio 4 that BJ hadn't agreed to an Andrew Neil interview yet!
Do hope he does it and is really well prepared and apologises if needed etc.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 27/11/2019 09:51

Thanks Singing! 😘

Just to throw my hat in the ring and address Tory Racism accusations.

Right, I am disgusted and appalled at it. I want them to get on with their internal enquiry and root it out asap. I would like Boris to apologise where needed (it’s needed) and adjust his language going forward. This is not about free speech, it’s about leading a country of people from all backgrounds and it is important that those same people don’t feel maligned or targeted by his stupid prior language.

I don’t however, believe it is the same issue, disgraceful and embarrassing yes, but not the same. There is a very specific and mirky political agenda to the Antisemitism within Labour, and it has taken hold of the party. These are not just stupid ‘jokey’ comments that people are making, it is an endemic belief that Jewish people are somehow lesser, and undeserving of their rightful place in the world, a buying into, of dangerous conspiracy theories and socialist ideologies, a wish to deny them even a country of their own. There is a culture of sympathy towards regimes that would seek to destroy Israel and jewish people, and deny Jews even the dignity of having their horrific history at the hands of hitler fully and rightfully acknowledged.

Currently I am seeing any reports of Racism and anti semitism in the Tory party stamped out and the perpetrators deposed almost immediately upon discovery, however, the issues in the current Labour party seem to be so ingrained, that they either can’t or wont act quickly.

They all should hang their heads in shame! But I go back to my belief that the issues in labour are are a real and present danger, distinct and unique from the Tory issues, that just cannot be ignored.

Anyone criticising the Rabbi for ‘involving himself’ in politics, is missing the point spectacularly, I agree, that religion has no place in politics, however, his responsibility is to his people, and his people (well, a large proportion of them anyway) are currently terrified. (And given their recent history, I completely understand) He would be remiss to not speak out on their behalf. If he doesn’t then who will?

I promise, this is not ‘whataboutery’ or an attempt to diminish the Tory Party issues, but there is imo, a significant difference between the two issues, and for Corbyn to sit on that chair last night, directly following the Rabbi’s comments, only to then not take the opportunity to apologise for the behaviour (regardless of alleged past apologies). Was reprehensible.

Boris? I hope you are listening. You had better apologise when given the chance too.

MeganBacon · 27/11/2019 09:51

I hope he agrees too but I hope he listens to the people prepping him and calms down and has a better answer to the trust (lack of) questions.
Thought Neil’s finest moment (of many) was the pensioner on £14k paying more. Brutal.

SingingLily · 27/11/2019 09:54

Morning, Double, a Brew for you and Megan and there's a whole tray of 🥓🍞🥓🍞 for everyone. Comrade Xing left the kitchen immaculate and with a fully stocked pantry.

Just popping out to have a word with the suppliers about some new bar snacks. Back soon.

I'm back in the pub, sitting at the back and listening quietly.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 27/11/2019 10:07

“Thought Neil’s finest moment (of many) was the pensioner on £14k paying more. Brutal.”

But, but! Labour ‘care’ about the elderly, these are just ‘rich’ gammony pensioners that probably voted brexit and will die soon anyway. They deserve it.

Amirite? Hmm

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 27/11/2019 10:12

Ye Gods.

Jezbollah has some ‘big scoop’ on the NHS. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Strap yourselves in folks, we are in for a bumpy ride. I can’t take this rollercoaster anymore... 😩

Hollycatberry · 27/11/2019 10:16

Epic very good post.

This article is along the same lines:

HateIsNotGood · 27/11/2019 10:19

Morning all - just 'popped in' for a bacon buttie and a large mug of tea.

For some entertainment - whenever you listen to the radio or TV news note how many times interviewees say the word "clear" as in "it's clear", "clearly" and "let's be clear", etc - drives me potty.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 27/11/2019 10:20

Well, that’s it then.

We are likely now in for a shining new era of Labour (momentum). He has played the NHS master stroke.

Slow handclap to the marxists.

SingingLily · 27/11/2019 10:23

Brewfor Enb sitting quietly at the back.

Agree with everything you say, Epic. As for:

Jezbollah has some ‘big scoop’ on the NHS. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Watching it now. He's preaching to the choir. Chlorinated chicken, selling off "our NHS", Trump a climate change denier, yawn, yawn. That stunt with NHS staff handing out copies of his unredacted document dressed in hospital scrubs is a shameless appropriation of their uniform code.

Liz Truss did a great job debunking the "selling off our NHS to America" myth at the weekend. She was absolutely crystal clear. (My future pick, at the moment, for future PM although I previously backed Dom Raab)

Jezbollah is, I think, trying more or less to tell Andrew Neil what questions to ask Boris.

“Ooh, Libby Weiner refusing to play nicely...by doing her job.”

It’s scaring me, they are attempting to control the press more and more already. Definitely a frightening taste of things to come, wait until they start to pass laws to control them. It’s just the beginning.
