Wine Brew Gin Glitterball Wine Brew Gin

Hello! Shall we try to do this? A place where Leavers and Remainers come in peace and attempt to find a way forward where we drink lager & sancerre and chianti and think of what unites instead of what divides? Terribly idealistic? How about showing our best side?

Very brave, OP!

I'm trying to think of a way forward but it's out of our hands and there is so much anger on one side, and anxiety on the other, that I'm not sure there is any common ground apart from everyone being sick of it all.

Imnotthrowingawaymyshot · 04/10/2019 20:45

True bercow and in the the middle of course no matter which side your on the actual risk that the leading light of democracy is about to blown into smithereens.

And the freedom to vote ripped from us and our children and our grandchildren as we get absorbed into the great flabby beomoth eu. And our hard earned money is chucked into the vortex of corruption and greed. And we get dragged into a nasty war our dc are forced to enlist in by mad empire dictator guy de v.

And riots break out because Italy has collapsed and the far right are thriving and have huge hold in so called eu parliament and the far left is there in retaliation and we consider another war in Europe.

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 20:48

@BercowsFlyingFlamingo - thank you for replying! And welcome - what can I get you to drink?

Look, if people in NI have found a way forward - and they were, literally, shooting at each other - we must find a way too, because in real life we are getting along, Leavers and Remainers work together, we live together. So this anger and fear that comes out is only a part of the story. In reality we do get along. We must make an effort to find a shared narrative.

:)

Thank you for the warm welcome. An iced water would be lovely, thanks. I'm not sure you should serve Imnotthrowingawaymyshot though as I think they've been on the glue.

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 20:52

TBH, Italy hasn't really collapsed. The Italian government has always crashed and risen from its ashes. like the phoenix it has a much bigger elasticity than the British one. It's just as things are. Let's not get into excessive drama :)

What is your favourite cocktail @Imnotthrowingawaymyshot?

As M Thatcher once said to T Wogan at a Downing St reception: "Have whatever you like. It's all on the taxpayer."

Tel replied: "I am a taxpayer. I'll have a glass of water."

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 20:54

@BercowsFlyingFlamingo is Sanpellegrino ok? or to fizzy? I have also Highland Springs and Volvic! The Reconciliation Cafe does British, European and World Drinks too :)

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 04/10/2019 20:56

From the tap is fine but seeing as you have Volvic, I'll have one of those thanks.

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 20:57

@MockersthefeMANist. I am Queer Victoria - no taxpayer in my times.

My servants Prime Ministers William Gladstone and Benjamin Disraeli are joining footing the bill of this from their personal estate. Allow them them get a glass of Champagne for you.

G&T for me OP, cheers! I'll also have some olives (I'm a bit peckish).
I wish we could genuinely put all this behind us and regain the standing and affection we used to enjoy in Europe. We used to be quite well liked...

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 20:58

Apologies for the typos. One is not used to this modern technology.

bellinisurge · 04/10/2019 20:58

A cup of tea, if you'll serve me.

MockersthefeMANist · 04/10/2019 20:59

Down here in Darzet we got our finest French brandy hauled up the beach of the Bourne Mouth during the Napoleonic Blockade.

We may soon have to go to the attic in search of our moonrakes.

lljkk · 04/10/2019 21:04

I honestly don't know what values Leavers & Remainers share.
I will sit quietly & listen.

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 21:06

@bellinisurge - of course, I am Empress of India, I have all the tea you can dream of.. and more! Here is some of my finest darjeeling, served in a Chelsea Porcelain cup. Lovely to have you here. Thank you for coming in.

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 21:09

@lljkk... peace? Friendship? family? love? bargain hunting? cooking for some and eating for others?
Dare I say... Europeanness...? (that one may be more controversial)

QueerVictoria · 04/10/2019 21:10

@MockersthefeMANist - tell me more.

I spent ages trailing th'interweb looking for a good image of Benjamin Disraeli serving drinks. I finally found it and can't upload it. This FURY against technology unites leavers and remainers alike.

MockersthefeMANist · 04/10/2019 21:14

Moonrakers were the thieving dishonest Dorset folk of old who when they were accosted by the constabule, much as they do still, they put on their best Tammazarrrrdy voice and say, Zur, oi was only troing to rake the moon's reflection in the water.

One duty man, Lewis Tregonwell, built a house just off the worst smuggler's beach at 'The Bourne Mouth' in 1812 and started a town.

Devious bastards then and now.

lljkk · 04/10/2019 21:23

I don't have fury against technology.

Cats. The whole Internet loves cats. That might be unifying.

Thank you for the interesting Dorset history tale @MockersthefeMANist, every day is a school day!

imnot are you able to string a sentence together that contains actual facts rather than just soundbites?

ForeverFaff · 04/10/2019 21:27

Is it too early for eggnog?

Loving the cafe! Great idea.

CactusAndCacti · 04/10/2019 21:28

I'll just have a coke, of the full fat variety. None of this diet, zero, lite or any other stuff. And no I don't care if I have to pay more, I'm worth it.

I don't really like anyone and am pretty anti social, so I'll just sit up a corner on my own.

blubberyboo · 04/10/2019 21:29

I’ll have a Bushmills Whiskey...whilst we can still get it through all these borders

Cheers!
