Just watching parliament and it's like some sort of circus. They're making a show of themselves.

The Eu won’t grant us a long extension though

TheWaiting · 29/03/2019 18:24

It’s not just the EU who are sick of Brexit and want to get on with the business of actual governing. Parliament has been strangled by Brexit to the detriment of all other business. Meanwhile, the poor (especially children) have got poorer.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 18:24

I also predict a riot if we don't leave. My MP is a Leaver in a very affluent area. I'm not sure how we voted as I was living in Westminster at the time of the vote so was really only interested in that vote.

You got a 2 week extension predicated on you passing the WA which you haven't done.

Do you live in the UK? The use of 'you' suggests not. Just curious, due to your use of language.

The two week extension was to allow more time to get a consensus in parliament. The extension until 22 May was given if we'd passed the WA by the end of today. However, a longer extension will be considered by the EC27, if we return to them with an alternate, feasible, plan before the deadline of 12 April (and, preferably, before 10 April's Council meeting, in reality).

The IVs should allow this process to be undertaken next week when - hopefully - a consensus will be reached and a plan drawn up for the EU27 to agree.

LoudBatPerson · 29/03/2019 18:27

Do you mean you don't know who your current constituency voted? It is very easy to find out......

Quartz2208 · 29/03/2019 18:27

The EU though at the problem here - as PP have said if we went to them with an agreement approved plan they are likely to ok it

THe problem is we dont know what we want at all

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 18:30

@Quartz2008 and that is precisely why an extension will not be granted.

The UK has 12 days to get their act together. Otherwise, we are crashing out.

SciFiRules · 29/03/2019 18:36

Fingers crossed for a referendum or straight revoke. I'm not worried if a few thugs riot, that's what we have police and a judiciary for. Although police numbers are shockingly low.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 18:37

Except we've time to come up with a plan, especially as there's IVs on Monday.

LaurieMarlow · 29/03/2019 18:37

Otherwise, we are crashing out.

Revoking is much more likely Wink

BeardedMum · 29/03/2019 18:38

I don’t want to crash out of the EU just out of fear of some thugs rioting. They are not the ones who will pick up the pieces. Are they even in work most of them? Looking at the photos today they are quite a different demographic than the remain March last week.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 18:39

Just noticed the swap from 'you' to 'we'. Which is it, OP?

I'm sensing a nefarious purpose to this thread!

LaurieMarlow · 29/03/2019 18:39

I'm not worried if a few thugs riot

Thing is they’ll riot anyway when the reality of no deal hits. Plus the remain side will be up in arms.

No deal really is the lose, lose option for parliament and they know that.

SciFiRules · 29/03/2019 18:40

Hopefully today means no brexit or a much softer brexit with eea and customs union mebership, following next Mondays debate and further indicative votes. Once we know why we want an extension I believe it will be granted.

SciFiRules · 29/03/2019 18:43

I agree no deal is the worst option. Only greasy self serving slugs like JRM, Gove and Fox want that.

Quartz2208 · 29/03/2019 18:46

True but a no deal will only occur if Parliament do nothing. Which they cant. Its either go agree on an option and then go to the EU in order to come up with a timeline to agree on the terms
Revoke it
Referendum
General Election. I think Teresa May will revoke it, step down and call a General Election. As her final screw you to her party

Because lets face it a General Election is just going to end up with no one being able to form a Government

Because No deal is not what the majority of people voted for at all - I would be surprised if anyone but the hardliners want no deal. It suits no one

Parker231 · 29/03/2019 18:50

As they haven’t been able to agree on anything so far, I’m not putting much faith in anything substantial being successfully voted on next week. The House is becoming more divided not less.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 18:51

@BeardedMum

Wasn't aware 17.4 million people in the UK were out of work....?

OP posts:
WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 18:54

Again Parker - 100% agree with you. (Are you my clone lol)

This is my view too and I do think some sort of consensus will be reached - probably CU membership, maybe EEA (though that was very unpopular in the initial vote).

And those who are saying the EU is fed up with us etc. No doubt. I am fed up with us too. But there are 3 million EU citizens living here too who will be very badly affected by a no deal Brexit. They can't just tell them all to move. If there is a way out of no deal, the way out will happen. EU heads of state will not just say no because they are fed up.

StealthPolarBear · 29/03/2019 18:56

I predicted the deal would scrape through at the last minute. I was very wrong.
I am hopeful we are closer to revoke but I also think we're closer to no deal.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 18:56

They won't agree on anything, they'll go to the EU saying 'We need more time', the EU will say - Sorry, time is up and that will be that.

OP your right about leavers being bleached out of Mumsnet.
In fact leavers anywhere I am wouldn't dare declare it because they don't want to be ranted at.
People talk at you as though your a leaver and already said very clearly how bigoted thick and stupid leavers are... before one could interject... I am one.

One had the termertiy too grant me that I had "at least logical and decent reasons for wanting to leave" . How patronising! A mum at ballet class chatting.

I felt like grilling her over her reasons to vote remain and put those to the test. Confused the cheek!

It's a great Shame the right wing thug's have taken over ukip.
