Just watching parliament and it's like some sort of circus. They're making a show of themselves.

@Fresta - I would be very cautious about a second referendum delivering a Remain majority. MN is strongly Remain so you're perhaps cocooned in here, but other sources that I wander around online, are very strongly pro-Brexit. Vehemently so and in vast numbers. MN is the only forum that I can find that is Remain.

The DUP really is the fly in the ointment here.

Remainer and Brexiteers don't want this Bill/ treaty or whatever you want to call it. Well, people like JRM and Johnson can flip around when it suits them but 58 other people are standing firm against it.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 15:15

344 are against it

I’ve had conversations with 2 separate leave voting friends this week. Up until TM gave her ‘emergency speech’ they never tired of telling me how despite the rhetoric, they had not changed their mind. Both have changed their minds this week. One feels lied to, the other says they always knew what it would mean but they feel it’s been such an expensive shambles that we should just revoke and move on.

I’m a remainer but it’s not remainers who have got us here. The government have done this to themselves. Bad negotiating, arrogance leading to a GE then putting party before country.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 15:15

Whiskers. Another vote would be close but I think leave could win again.
Be careful what you wish for and MN is very pro remain. I agree that other places away from here are not as remain leaning!
Only hope is leavers won't bother voting again. The Daily mail has a Remainer as it's editor. People have changed their minds, etc etc.
It's a long way off still.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 15:16

Sorry , I was taking one from the other! It was 58 that tipped it over. Not as many as before though.

ThunderStorms · 29/03/2019 15:17

Time to revoke article 50.

They should have been doing all of THIS before they triggered article 50.

TheWaiting · 29/03/2019 15:19

I agree with Whiskers. I think the leave supporters are still strong in number. (And I’m a remainer)

I think to ensure a remain result, the government would need to allow 16&17yr olds a say as the Scottish government did with Indyref.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 15:20

It's like Parliament is deaf to what the EU is saying. And Remainers on MN are blind to the amount of Leavers there are. It's certainly not really allowed to discuss Leave on here. I've seen many threads deleted - supposedly by Remainers reporting threads and comments for spurious reasons. So MN has been bleached of Leavers almost, which has created the impression that Leavers don't exist. Venture out of MN, and it's an entirely different picture. I think the modding on the site re Brexit has favoured Remain, thus leaving the site strongly Remain biased.

EU spokespersons statement includes a 'No deal scenario on April 12th is now a likely scenario'.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 15:22

The ' remain ' people need to keep saying the positives of the EU ; they need a new strategy. ( if there is a PV)
Labour could do with a new leader too.

brizzlemint · 29/03/2019 15:22

It's a never ending roller coaster.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 15:23

The ' neverendum'

HateIsNotGood · 29/03/2019 15:24

I agree with the snippet of TM's summing up - the end of Parliamentary Process has been reached. I've been pro-WA since the first vote, but now I'm done, done, done - and really feel quite angry now, mostly by the party politicking that has thrown reason out of the window and, so much so, I think I would like to participate in little acts of defiance.

Whilst I don't agree with either No Deal or a 2nd Ref, my pref now is for No Deal and if there was a 2nd Ref, I would vote for No Deal and/or Leave. If a GE was called I would vote for a Leave Now Party or even UKIP. Same if I have to vote in EP Elections.

So, the result of Parliament fucking around is that a very EU-sympathetic Leaver has now been pushed towards more extreme persuasions.....shame, shame, shame.

MockerstheFeManist · 29/03/2019 15:25

Labour are captured by the Parasitic Momentum Wasp.

We need more Tiggers.

The80sweregreat · 29/03/2019 15:26

Hatel, your not alone in feeling this way.
Lots of leavers will never change their minds.

Dolly2007 · 29/03/2019 15:26

I think there will be riots tonight. Hopefully we will get general election soon.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 15:27

The neverendum

PMSL! That's exactly it!

As all other options were rejected, with no time now to formulate a new proposal (and the EU have said they won’t negotiate any further). -it’s unlikely the EU will give an extension. They aren’t meeting until 10 April, it’s looks like a no deal on 12 April - disaster!

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 15:30

I agree Parker. The UK seems convinced that the EU will give them a long extension, I genuinely don't think they will.

OP posts:
MockerstheFeManist · 29/03/2019 15:31

EEA does not need any negotiation. It is off-the-peg.

WhiskersOnCats · 29/03/2019 15:32

A long extension would require a unanimous consensus between 27 EU states. It's not going to happen. We will crash out on April 12th.

OP posts:
orangesquashh · 29/03/2019 15:36

I think the EU will grant us a long extension, because ultimately they want to keep us in the EU. They know that if they give us a couple more years to sort out a deal, it will almost certainly get kicked into the long grass and we will almost certainly end up remaining.

Thinkinghappythoughts · 29/03/2019 15:38

There can't be another extension. That would mean participating in the EU elections. There can't be another referendum as it would be impossible to organise by 12th April.

Crash or revoke seem to be the only options.
