Good morning brexiteers.

Well, we’re almost there ( although today will be interesting )
So if you’re not worried in the slightest about anything ( I’m not ) then jump into the pool of tranquility, & let the warm water of optimism & new beginnings wash over you.

Fully appreciate some remainers have real concerns, but in the interest of balance, plenty of us haven’t.

This thread is for us.

Thatcher may have that view then but she'd have done anything to save her skin politically, just as May is doing now.

Say what you like about Maggie, but as another poster said, it’s highly unlikely she’d have taken us out of the single market.

ZenNudist · 29/01/2019 23:39

Not really the place for intelligent political discourse then but i will give it a go.

All you zen, calm leavers please articulate to what is positive about brexit. Throw me some crumbs. Anything. In all this time I never heard anything that explains why brexit is so sodding brilliant it was worth compromising our economic stability, our national cohesion, our relatively world leading (for a nation of our size) influence and future prosperity. Plus subjugating the many many other matters that deserved attention, like the homelessness crisis, housing, health, education and social care? Please tell me.

All you ever get is "its going to be great" with zero support for the assertion.

Im not panicking. I am resigned that my dc's future is not as bright as mine was at the same age. Its pretty criminal when you track the divergent path of UK economic indicators against European ones since June 2016 (i deal with economists in my job so track these things and its very clear and very depressing ).

Lovelyflowerstoday · 29/01/2019 23:46

Zen there's only Surfer and oinkgin24 who are delighted to be leaving in real life. Oops Pinkgin!

bellinisurge · 30/01/2019 06:16

Any love for WA yet?

SalrycLuxx · 30/01/2019 06:27

total balls up of negotiations it is obvious that it needs to leave as damaging the EU would cause truly catastrophic problems.

Snap leClerc. I think for the good of the EU we just need to go now. So I have apparently switched to being a ‘leaver’.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 30/01/2019 06:29

⭐️ I voted Remain but ...

Needs to be added to the Brexit bingo

bellinisurge · 30/01/2019 06:31

As much as I disagree with @surferjet , I think they have kinda sorta moved away from No Deal which is a good thing.

I still think a lot of Leavers don't get that , at this stage, it's WA or something just like it, or No Brexit. This is a useful thread if those Leave ideas are thrashed out here with realism and pragmatism. I'm sorry if that sounds patronising but it's the best I've got.

Dongdingdong · 30/01/2019 06:46

As much as I disagree with @surferjet , I think they have kinda sorta moved away from No Deal which is a good thing.

Moved away from No Deal? I’d be saying the same if MPs had backed Yvette Cooper’s amendment, but they would only commit to the non-binding version - a fat lot of good that’s going to do. No Deal is still very much on the table unfortunately and IMO.

bellinisurge · 30/01/2019 06:56

I'm using "they" for surferjet because I don't know if they are male or female. There's a long road ahead for determined No Dealers including our MPs. I think the non binding but successful Spelman amendment showed tbe mood of the House is against no Deal but they still, rather pathetically, want to give Theresa May the option of bargaining with this threat.

InfiniteSheldon · 30/01/2019 08:02

Checking in too hi Surfer

Thanks to your suggestion @surferjet , I also have a countdown on my phone. Probably for a different reason Grinbut it's a good idea.

Oblomov19 · 30/01/2019 08:49

I don't know what will happen. What a mess.

I don't actually want us to leave now. But I can't see that we can now stay. I can't see 50 bring rescinded. I wish it would but I think it's unlikely.

But I can't get upset or stressed about it. What will be will be. I can't affect it.

My husband runs a huge plant. He has a policy, he has to go on lots of courses for MH. There's what you can control. And what's out of your control. Pointless worrying about what's out of your control.

I can't understand these posters saying they feel sick or can't sleep. How is that doing anyone any good?

jollyoldsoul · 30/01/2019 09:38

Totally agree oblamov. I see some posters on the Westminster threads that must have spent hundreds of hours there, and to what end!?

bellinisurge · 30/01/2019 09:40

To what end? To discuss the shit show with like minded people when they can't discuss it in real life.

jollyoldsoul · 30/01/2019 09:47

Yes, I guess remainers, being left largely alone on their threads, can enjoy a bit of like-minded chat. Shame the brexit arms, lagoon etc are bombarded with hate and demands as soon as we try to have the same.

bellinisurge · 30/01/2019 09:49

Sorry chaps, I voted Remain. I'm prepared to accept WA and want to see if that view has any traction amongst Leavers. If you just want to compare unicorns that's fine if somewhat pointless.

Buteo · 30/01/2019 09:54

jollyoldsoul remind me, who started the name calling on this thread?

jollyoldsoul · 30/01/2019 10:05

bueto....are you asking me to scroll back and check, or, are you saying I did?

Buteo · 30/01/2019 10:09

Hint - it’s on P1 and it’s not a Remainer (and no, it wasn’t you jolly).

surferjet · 30/01/2019 10:30

If you’re talking about the post by Greensleeves ( because that’s the only ridiculous name calling post on page 1. ) she’s a remainer.
Not really sure what her post was meant to achieve - best ask her.

OP posts:
Lovelyflowerstoday · 30/01/2019 10:35

Jolly you think it's a waste of time spending hundreds of hours discussing the most important thing that has happened to our country since the second world war? What on earth would have to happen to make it worthwhile spending so much time on then??!

surferjet · 30/01/2019 10:40

bellinisurge

There are quite a few remainers who literally spend hours of their life talking about Brexit on here. All day everyday. I’m sure they’re on FB & Twitter too - ( Christ knows how they find the time? ) That’s fine if they want to do that, they clearly have plenty of spare time on their hands, but what I find funny is when they accuse leave posters of being Russian bots, when they’re the ones patrolling the board 24/7! 😂. Leavers hardly post anything on here in comparison.

OP posts:
Buteo · 30/01/2019 10:45

Ah, apologies then surfer and jolly. Some Remainers don’t help themselves do they?

surferjet · 30/01/2019 10:45

No, they don’t.
