What will happen now?

OP posts:
NigellasGuest · 15/01/2019 20:21

On TV now, saying we should actively prepare for no deal

MissSusanScreams · 15/01/2019 20:21

Agreed @GhostofFrankGrimes.

There are so many more pressing issues than our fucking EU membership. I thought we were all worried about the deficit. Obviously not enough to stop us pouring hundreds of millions at exiting an organisation that most people didn’t even notice or know anything about five years ago.

We are a joke. But the good news is we are only hurting ourselves. Oh, wait...

Greensleeves · 15/01/2019 20:22

@SillySallySingsSongs it's high time he buggered off back to his allotment.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/01/2019 20:23

Will Labour throw its weight behind a PV?

If anything JC was firmly in the against camp, wasn't he?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 15/01/2019 20:23

4.2 billion isnt it? Never want the right wing tabloid readers to whinge about magic money trees ever again.

SillySallySingsSongs · 15/01/2019 20:24

Here people go again assuming they know JC will lose. Just like those who assumed Remain would win...do you not learn?

He doesn't have the maths. Tory MPs won't vote for it. They would abstain rather than vote against their own party in something like that. Evenbig MPs for both leave and renain have said that.

DUP have just confirmed they will all vote with the government.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 15/01/2019 20:24

Please can we just stop this farce now?

Yes, the people voted Leave by the slimmest of majorities, but it was - in my opinion - a referendum that should never have taken place with such poor and inadequate information.

It's sort of like asking people to vote whether they want chocolate. No-one knows whether it's Dairy Milk, Galaxy or Thorntons. There is uncertainty. People are aware they may not really like the end result - but it's still chocolate. And then after the vote telling them later that the chocolate is laced with cyanide & dipped in vomit.

ToeToToe · 15/01/2019 20:25

Utter carnage.

Personally, I'm terrified of No Deal.

Justanotherlurker · 15/01/2019 20:25

What he will do afterwards is important I think. Will Labour throw its weight behind a PV?

Not really, as it goes against his principals (and remember he was escalated to power because he was a man of principals) and it would hamper his manifesto pledges. (France is having to open its rail network up to tender, EU forced austerity etc)

No one want's to be in charge of this shit show as the lies about being neoliberal is so ingrained that it pokes massive holes in both sides of the political spectrum

Greensleeves · 15/01/2019 20:25

He has been, but many in his party aren't. And he's running out of options; all he's done for weeks is harp on about a GE, if (when) he falls on his arse tomorrow he's going to have to pick a stance.

VamillaSugar · 15/01/2019 20:25

Oh, he’s on sky News. Well he can FOTTFSOF. He’s on farking cookoo land.

MissSusanScreams · 15/01/2019 20:26

Well, the magic money tree obviously only exists to help disaster capitalism short markets and make a fuck ton of money.

This is very much like having an issue with your toe so just sawing off your own leg without any pain relief.

XingMing · 15/01/2019 20:26

Preparing for no deal is the sensible option, because regrouping and moving forward will be the strong response signal that may persuade the EU bureaucrats that there are other suppliers of wine, vegetables, washing machines and cars from whom the UK's 60m consumers can buy their necessities.

SillySallySingsSongs · 15/01/2019 20:26

Brexit is happening because of an unresolved civil war in the Tory party.

Maybe but lets not pretend everything is ok with Labour.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 15/01/2019 20:26

No deal was a Tory bluff that they have now largely bottled unless a head banger is put in charge.

MissSusanScreams · 15/01/2019 20:28

when) he falls on his arse tomorrow he's going to have to pick a stance.

I imagine that his rebel MPs are waiting for the moment to shove him to one side. The party membership want a second ref and so do most of the MPs.

Unless he pulls it off tomorrow then he is going to have misstepped into a gigantic hole of his own making.

Ribbonsonabox · 15/01/2019 20:28

If she fails the vote of no confidence will there be a general election? And if there is will that not mean we have to extend article 50? So the vote of no confidence might at least cause that

GhostofFrankGrimes · 15/01/2019 20:28

This isn’t about the Labour Party sally this mess has Tory dna all over it whether you like it or not. Laughing stock of the world

Justanotherlurker · 15/01/2019 20:29

Here people go again assuming they know JC will lose. Just like those who assumed Remain would win...do you not learn?

He doesn't have the numbers, and it was a slow play poker hand that everyone was expecting him to make. DUP have confirmed they will vote with the government and the Tories will close rank because no one wants to be in charge of this shit show.

I think it would be good if Corbyn got into power to be honest, it might wake a few people up to the situation instead of treating it like a Con v Lab issue.

1981m · 15/01/2019 20:29

I 100% agree with Chemenger. I think it's TMs fault we are in this mess. She wouldn't revel what the deal she was negotiating was, she wouldn't let anyone have a say, she was extremely narrow minded and was too stubborn that her deal was the right deal. She didn't negotiate properly. She forced parliament into this vote by not allowing them transparency.

XingMing · 15/01/2019 20:31

I am really much more certain that I don't want a labour government under JC than I was about any permutation of leave/remain. The man is a puppet.

ToeToToe · 15/01/2019 20:31

I'm terrified of a Corbyn government too. I'd love to see another Labour government - but absolutely not under Corbyn.

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 15/01/2019 20:32

Sothat justifies turning away from post industrial areas does it? Immigration was a rusty nail to hang a justification for the choice on, without this government and previous governments and future governments to recognise their role in destroy industry and parking folk on benefits until they died to lower unemployment rates. Those people are being villified now by UC and the younger generation are being written off as thick racists, it might be convinient but it isn't the truth, at least for me. If it is cancelled I will accept that, but I will be writing to my MP and the PM (again) and asking that something akin to the Barnett Formula, even if it comes from EU development funding be considered for deprived post industrial areas in England.

The government and media have misused the EU as a smoke screen to deflect responsiblity absorb ire for too long. It was my hpe that coming out of the EU, would force everyone to see how difficult it has been for many areas in this country for DECADES. Hair is turning white in parts of the south at the mere possibility of a taste of it. Yet, we were just supposed to put up and shut up, because they're alright Jack?! Angry

jasjas1973 · 15/01/2019 20:33

If she fails the vote of no confidence will there be a general election?

No, because MPs get second vote 14 days later... just to make sure they still have no confidence in the Gov!

Justheretogiveaviewfrommyworld · 15/01/2019 20:33

That was in response to Jasjas btw
