What will happen now?

OP posts:

Wotev

Give up honestly - the majority of Mumsnet appear to live in a bubble where the only nice people they come into contact with are immigrants.
White UK born people ( esp white English ) are always the bad guys.
It’s not RL on here.

TM said she would enter in cross party talks but from what I've seen she isn't talking to JC, only other members of the Labour party. Surely the right thing is for her to meet with all the party leaders & for them to each appoint their own spokespersons to represent their party & try to find a way out of this mess. If she puts another rubbish deal on the table then it will get rejected again & we will keep on going round in circles until we crash out on 29 March. I don't trust TM, knowing her she will leave the country up to its neck & then call a GE so that someone else will get the blame for the country being in this mess

MuseumofInnocence · 16/01/2019 10:41

But as things stand, every scumbag in the world can come here. It's not right. You want to call that racism? Knock yourselves out

How is that not racist? I get quite annoyed with people who are racist getting annoyed when they say racist things, get accused of being racist, and then get all defensive about it.

The above statement from Wotdev is just simply false.

SillySallySingsSongs · 16/01/2019 10:43

JC won't talk to her. Lets not forget that this is man that refused to even stand on the same stage as Cameron.

surferjet · 16/01/2019 10:43

No, Boris.

I’m a realist.

Nice people come in all shapes & sizes & come from all countries.
So do horrible people.

Trying to ignore issues, just because they relate to immigration, get’s you nowhere.

Actually that’s not true - it gets you to a no deal brexit.

Bloominglovely · 16/01/2019 10:45

The vote was won by an idealistic notionof nationalism. The poster who said she voted to leave due to immigration was honest. The other Leavers voted primarily for the same reason. Racism due to being negatively impacted. Yes. Still racist. Yes.

Isn’t it ironic to think of the money spent to build the tunnel when the people wanted it only to be used by the English trundling along in their

“Nice people come in all shapes & sizes & come from all countries.

I absolutely agree with you. The problem is, Wotevs doesn’t. She also seems to think that the EU had something to do with the Rotherham grooming scandal. Do you think that too?

DangermousesSidekick · 16/01/2019 10:49

Xing said she voted leave because she wanted "the customs union of broadly similar western European nations who were fed up with tearing each other apart in continental wars. I did not vote to join an EU hellbent on federalism run by an unelected cabal of enarque bureaucrats."

I think a lot of EU citizens could agree with that. The difference is that overall, they stay in because, what are the alternatives?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 16/01/2019 10:53

With you being NOT a racist wotev Hmm I thought I'd report your blatantly inadvertent racist posts

HTH

BorisBogtrotter · 16/01/2019 10:54

"Trying to ignore issues, just because they relate to immigration, get’s you nowhere. "

Except repeatedly the issues are not actually to do with immigration.

The biggest issue in the police ignoring Rotherham was the fact that they put it down to the girls lifestyle choice, dismissing them as silly little ... rather than being afraid to arrest and charge people of asian descent.

If they were afraid to do that why are more Asian people stopped and searched than white?

surferjet · 16/01/2019 10:56

Don’t know enough about Rotherham to comment.
I know they were mostly Muslim men & the authorities didn’t act quickly enough because they didn’t want to appear racist. That came out in the enquires.

But I don’t know if all the men, or most of them, were British born? or if they’d moved here under Freedom of movement rules or were non EU recent immigrants?
Does anyone know?

BertrandRussell · 16/01/2019 10:56

“Trying to ignore issues, just because they relate to immigration, get’s you nowhere.”

I agree with that too.

surferjet · 16/01/2019 10:58

BorisBogtrotter

I agree with you on that.
The girls weren’t deemed worthy enough to worry about.

BertrandRussell · 16/01/2019 10:58

“I know they were mostly Muslim men & the authorities didn’t act quickly enough because they didn’t want to appear racist. That came out in the enquires”

That was one it the things that came out in the enquiry. The attitude of both the police and the care system towards supposedly “looked after” girls was a much more significant factor.

What’s this got to do with Brexit?

Beechview · 16/01/2019 11:00

They didn’t want to appear racist is such a pathetic excuse. Is it racist to arrest a criminal who happens to be from an ethnic minority.
I can guarantee that even the wider Pakistani community would not have thought that arresting those men was racist either them or now.

BorisBogtrotter · 16/01/2019 11:01

Most of the men involved were British born or here as non EU immigrants. I doubt any were here under FOM.

As I said, the police not arresting due to ethnicity is clap trap, they are happy to arrest Pakistani men for other things, why not this. I actually think that was an excuse used by the police to get away from the reality.

It was the status of the girls and their attitudes toward them that caused this problem.

surferjet · 16/01/2019 11:03

What’s this got to do with Brexit?

Probably quite a lot if these men came here under FOM rules.

I don’t think anyone knows?

BorisBogtrotter · 16/01/2019 11:05

Except they didn't come here under FOM rules.

They aren't european nationals or have European passports, some of the older ones have been deported back to Pakistan.

So its NOTHING to do with Brexit.

surferjet · 16/01/2019 11:10

Fair enough

ToeToToe · 16/01/2019 11:11

Did I really just read "well why don't you go back to where you came from" on Mumsnet?? Bloody hell.

This thread is about "the deal has been rejected - what now?" - why in the name of fuck are people talking about Pakistanis/ Nigerians/ Somalians?

I'm hiding this thread- it's hardly surprising people think Leavers are racist, when they write the stuff I've just had the misfortune to read on this thread.

BorisBogtrotter · 16/01/2019 11:11

However, as I've said previously, the leave vote in many cases was for what the indvidual voter wanted from leaving the EU.

It seems many people think that it will result in "them" going back home, depending to each individual who "them" are.

Camomila · 16/01/2019 11:11

Its pretty unlikely they would have come from other European countries. Its Britain that has the historic relationship with Pakistan.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 16/01/2019 11:19
