There's a deal.

The press are over excited.

May has united the country.

Everyone hates it.
(Apart from David Allen Green)

Parliament might yet reject it.

Nothing is yet decided and everything is still to be sorted.

Sophy Ridge @SophyRidgeSky
If 48 letters go in today, the vote likely to happen on Tuesday, from conversations I’m having

If the DUP have indeed withdrawn Confidence & Supply, Corbyn can call for a vote of No Confidence to test this.

Then 14 days for someone - anyone ! - to form a govt
If not, then a GE

I suspect the DUP won't want to risk a GE that doesn't leave them with this power

14 days - the EJ might have ruled by then

Total chaos among both main parties if she revoked A50 just before being forced to call a GE
... hang on, we've got that now

lonelyplanetmum · 15/11/2018 14:16

the EU given that their failure to do enough prompted Cameron to set us on this ghastly path.

But it was Cameron's failure not the EUs? Anything involving 27 member states is a long slow game. Slowly getting people on side ,explaining, garnering support. Cameron flounced off in a cavalcade and expected to achieve change in one long weekend?

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:16

The DUP would wait first, to see if they get a more rightwingTory leader

lonelyplanetmum · 15/11/2018 14:18

Is the DUP money paid, in instalments or refundable?

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 14:18

Mark Goodrich @MarkyGoodrich
Lunch break update. This PPS at Ministry of Justice seems to have resigned on the basis of a misreading of Article 89 (relates to transition period). Unbelievable. #BrexitChaos

No amount of negotiation would have helped Cameron.

The EU could NOT give Cameron what he wanted, which was basically to return to the old Common Market,
with the UK able to ignore any law it didn't like
end FOM etc

Either the UK accepts the EU as it is - and as it is changing towards - or indeed, Leave, preferably to EEA / EFTA

Sophy Ridge @SophyRidgeSky
Lots of chatter about Chris Grayling here in Westminster...

I told you I was clutching at straws, @BigChocFrenzy .

prettybird · 15/11/2018 14:22

Don't think the DUP have actually been paid yet because the money couldn't be spent while Stormont isn't sitting HmmConfused

DGRossetti · 15/11/2018 14:22

There is an outside possibility of more minor concessions from the EU given that their failure to do enough prompted Cameron to set us on this ghastly path.

I'd say the reverse. They've tried to be nice, and make concessions where they can. Every time it's been griped at, sniped at, sneered at, and deliberately misconstrued and misportayed to the British public.

Like Corbyn, the EU has got the measure of the UKs right wing media, and generally doesn't engage.

Personally, it seems to me that the UK media is a little like a magic spell that's managed to miss it's mark ... it has to hit someone, and the rules of magic say it's the person that invoked it.

In this case the "spell" is a horribly snarling bloodlust crazed press, and the fact Labour are nowhere means they're turning on the Tories.

1tisILeClerc · 15/11/2018 14:22

But Cameron actually got about three quarters of what he asked for and the remaining bit wasn't actually an EU issue IIRC.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:23

Failing Grayling
Another whose resignation is long overdue

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:25

What the Tories and Leavers really want is not possible without dismantling the EU and returning to the Common Market.

This illustrates some of the problems with their red lines

I think there are elements in the EU saying that the 'deal' is too generous to the UK. If true, and seeing the way the UK is continuing to insult the EU I would doubt there will be much in terms of 'improvement' on what was offered.

1tisILeClerc · 15/11/2018 14:27

{Failing Grayling

Was he coming in by train perhaps?

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:28

According to Ivan Rogers, Cameron was offered Associate EU Membership, something totally new for the EU,
which would actually have delivered almost everything,

However, Cameron refused, because the UK would no longer be "at the top table" in the EU

He wanted the Uk to be immune from the rules, but to make rules for all the other countries

bellinisurge · 15/11/2018 14:28

For what it's worth, there are voices in Germany saying they could have done more for Cameron. But, I agree, nothing sensible was ever going to make a difference.

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:29

The reason the EU AMbassador demanded a full week to read & study this WA before the November meeting is
precisely because the E27 are worried about all the concessions that have been made

There will be no more
This is it

RedToothBrush · 15/11/2018 14:30

Tom Larkin @TomLarkinSky
A minister just told me “this is a phantasmagorical goat fuck of the worst kind”. Which begs the question, what’s the best kind?

Like the US.

1tisILeClerc · 15/11/2018 14:30

Wasn't there talk of a 'two speed' Europe 10-15 years ago. Did that happen or fall onto the side of the road?

Told by his colleagues that Gove has been called to genuine family matter. He’s also being tapped up for Brexit sec job. But ministerial source tells me he doesn’t want it... in fact no-one wants it...

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:30

I'm in Germany and those voices aren't saying anything that is actually possible
They are the usual ones who promise what can't be delivered.
yes, we have them too

BigChocFrenzy · 15/11/2018 14:33

re the empty DexEU post, I'm reminded of this from the last leadership election:
