Anon1234567890 · 10/02/2017 19:50

Was just reading last thread when it ended lol

Have 2 questions/thoughts on what I have read.

  1. Socialists/liberals blame the 'rise of the right' on populism. Why dont the put left just put forward a better argument to win support. Is it because the left has no answers?

  2. All this talk of hard and soft Brexit just didn't exist before the referendum, it was just Brexit. The 48% are now pushing soft Brexit and screaming, the fringe (52%) are forcing hard Brexit on a feckless country. Huh? WTF? We knew what we were voting for, aka leaving the EU aka Brexit. What is up with this histrionics?

surferjet · 10/02/2017 19:51

Hmm......A picture of Nigel Farage. Our Vera Lynn LP's?

Just seen the latest 🐷 comment - that's been going on for about a week now.

Remainers - apparently a caring, inclusive type of person, in contrast to Leavers.
Apparently.

Inkanta · 10/02/2017 20:03

Sexit Brexit! Grin

HARD!

surferjet · 10/02/2017 20:04

Anon1234567890 - hello.
It's difficult to get answers from the left that's true.
Brexit & DT happened because millions of people weren't happy & wanted change.
Why people weren't happy is of no concern to the left - we're too stupid to know what's good for us apparently.
The rise of the far right in Europe isn't actually news tbh, it's been happening for a good few years now. France, for example, has always had a strong far right following.
UKIP are not a far right party - nowhere near.

I'm here just checking though we have left the chair at the last pub?

WrongTrouser · 10/02/2017 20:59

Anon Your question 1 is something I have been pondering. Too tired to write anything sensible now - will reply more tomorrow.

TheFullMrexit · 10/02/2017 21:28

I don't mind the pig references.

It reminds me how far we have come in our farming and how proud we should be that we treat our pigs good.

The horrors going on un checked in EU pig farms are well below our standards. Yes - horrors on farms here too but over all - standards much higher, and on eggs and chickens.
British pigs, and Brit farmers all the way. Smile

Do you mean the chair The Augury? if so, I hope so but the warden may bring it in with them when they come on duty

TheFullMrexit · 10/02/2017 21:29

Semi the Farage/stone photo looks very right and in doing so looks soooooo wrong Grin

SemiPermanent · 10/02/2017 21:42

I proper lol'd when I found it Mrexit Grin

I've just watched that documentary that was mentioned earlier on the other thread - This World, After Brexit: The battle for Europe.

It's quite an eye opener to just how many forgotten millions there are across the EU.
The EU project is definitely on crumbling sands now - if it doesn't reform soon it will collapse.
