Oh I don't know, the value of RBS dropping to lower than when we bailed it out. 30% dropping from the value of Barclays and RBS so trading is suspended. The equivalent value of all our EU contributions knocked off the value of stocks and shares. The £ trading at its lowest since 1985. The banking and several other sectors starting to move jobs abroad. Builders at risk of collapse putting new home projects at risk. A rise in extremist violence and racism. Our AAA rating downgraded by three agencies. Yup, it's all peachy. All off the back of a vote which represents less of a majority than would be allowed for a union strike, when leaving the EU has far larger repercussions.

Heratnumber7 · 28/06/2016 08:05

No I'm perfectly happy with my choice, do you realise how manipulative Project Fear was yet?

^^ This.

Lweji · 28/06/2016 08:06

Someone on another thread was saying how high unemployment is in the UK, when it's not. It's at a 10 year low and one of the lowest of the EU.
Where did this stuff come from?
People still prefer to go with the soundbites instead of a little research. Which might explain why older people voted Leave.

JapanNextYear · 28/06/2016 08:08

World markets have suffered largest two day drop in history after brexit and we've lost our triple AAA rating.

The city will close down unless a trade agreement can be negotiated and the European Union won't let us do that unless we have free movement of people. They lied to you about that.

Financial services are our only real export and we won't be allowed in the biggest club.

And Wales, Devon and Cornwall are going to lose their EU funding with no plan of how to replace it.

Look! Both sides lied, manipulated, forgot to treat us like fucking adults. Put their careers ahead of all else.

Turkey... Christmas.... and all the other ridiculous, ageist, disablist, racist, childish slurs from both sides! Really amusing. Until you remember that they refer to people. Real people who chose to vote according to their own lights.

We are all in the same position... lied to...patronised... scared... pissed off.

Grow up and stop with the stupidity of playground slanging matches!

Luckymummy22 · 28/06/2016 08:11

And the rightest wing Tory governmentry we'be seen in a long while are going to help the poor?

Sadly they've just made themselves a whole lot poorer.

Anonymouses · 28/06/2016 08:12

*Every leave voter I've spoken to is a ray of optimism and light.

"What about the coming recession?"
"It'll be fine!"
"But recession hits the poor and vulnerable hardest."
"They'll be ffffiiiiiinnnee"
"So you're not worried at all?"
"YAY BRITAIN"*

This

SybilEngineer · 28/06/2016 08:12

Don't worry! BMW will come to the rescue according to my leave voting FIL. They want to sell us their cars so will get Angela Merkel to make the EU let us trade freely whilst keeping foreigners out. Just wish BMW would get a move on Hmm

throwingpebbles · 28/06/2016 08:14

It was turkeys voting for Christmas sadly, even if you don't want to see it yet.

A friend just told me of two wonderful, pioneering projects she has been working on to build much needed new social housing plus affordable housing. They were through the plannjng stage and gearing up to build. Post Brexit the plug has been pulled Sad.

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 08:14

I don't think I look stupid at all. Is that all 17 million of us?

Well, I expect the racists don't think they look stupid, because they think they got what they want. Only even that isn't true.

Lweji · 28/06/2016 08:16

I don't think I look stupid at all. Is that all 17 million of us?

It's basic group dynamics. Just because a majority does something, it doesn't make it right.

Whisky2014 · 28/06/2016 08:16

The Pound is worth what it was 31 years ago. Yeah...that's progress.

FFS

throwingpebbles · 28/06/2016 08:20

Large numbers of people in the U.S. Think Trump is great. Just because lots of them do doesn't make them right.
(And again, sadly, the Turkeys voting for Christmas analogy applies there too).

If you voted on constitutional reasons then fine, there's am argument to be had there (but was now the time to had it? When we are just clawing our way back out of a financial crisis? Seems rather self-indulgent right now)

If you voted to keep immigrants out/ because you thought the EU money would be redirected to public services then surely you can see now what many of us tried to warn you: you were being lied to

Oakmaiden · 28/06/2016 08:23

We are all in the same position... lied to...patronised... scared... pissed off.*

I think that is the point though. Some of us are, and find it hard to swallow the "nah, this has absolutely been the right decision, there have been and will be no ill effects.nobody lied, everything is hunky dory. Get away with your cowardly scaremongering" we are hearing from others.

mollie123 · 28/06/2016 08:25

Biscuit sigh - this is all so tedious and offensive.

LondonKiwiMummy · 28/06/2016 08:28

Agree with Oakmaiden.

The only possible way you can think the economy is not being destroyed is if your sole source of news is the Daily Mail, which is still trying to whip up hate against Remainers. If you want divisive, take a look at the horrible things the Mail is saying about anyone they claim wants us to Remain (except oddly Boris - must have negotiated a pass at his lunch with Dacre last week) and anyone who says the economy is faltering.

BonerSibary · 28/06/2016 08:31

Can you tell us why its offensive? Is it because you think the stuff about the NHS and limiting immigration was true, or because you don't like people pointing out that it wasn't?

mummysmummy · 28/06/2016 08:35

to assume that all leave voters are old, poor or stupid is beyond offensive. 17 million people voted to leave. among them there will be millions who gave their decision a great deal of thought over a long period of time. they then exercised their right to vote how they thought fit. then, the side with the most votes wins. then we get on with it. that is what happens in a democracy. apparently, the result may have been so different if more young people had voted. but they didn't. in spite of endless party political broadcasts, leafleting, messages directly from political parties, wide spread opinion on social media and so called celebs giving their instructions, the younger voters didn't manage to get to the polling booth, to vote for their future. the "old, poor and stupid" did.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 28/06/2016 08:39

I voted Remain as I could see no apparent plan if qe voted Leave. On this I have been proven right because there is no bloody plan. On that basis I feel angry.

I am.also angry that the Leave campaign have been harping on about £350m a week for the NHS etc and are now back peddling furiously.

In anycase the resukts are in and we voted Leave. We now have to deal with the fallout until things settle down.

I am scared abput a very right wing Govt though. If people think they didn't listen before then....well you aint seen nothing yet.

trixymalixy · 28/06/2016 08:39

The problems is that the things that are happening so far are just abstract concepts to a lot of people. They probably think they just affect rich bankers.

throwingpebbles · 28/06/2016 08:42

They think they only affect bankers, but actually they will have a profound impact on the poorest and most vulnerable

Millyonthefloss2 · 28/06/2016 08:43

We were lied to (or fed exaggerated facts) by both Leave and Remain. That's marketing/advertising for you.

However, I have never felt more positive about the future of this country. For me the EU was a danger for two reasons - it was dragging down our economy and it was presiding over the rise of the far right.

  1. The UK Economy will be fine. FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 are up nicely today.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36648630

and that is despite the fact that George Osborne is STILL scare mongering. I can't wait for Javid's business summit tomorrow. Unlike Osborne, Javid actually knows what he is talking about. He has complete confidence in this country - I am hoping he gets a senior job in the new cabinet.

  1. Racism and the far right are now being openly discussed. It's horrible that people are experiencing racism, not that it's anything new as I know very well (my DH is from E Europe and my BIL is from Africa). But at least we are openly having the conversation now about deprivation and the horrible politics it causes. Labour is being forced into a shake up. They will have to listen to their constituents now and I am confident that once they have done that they will fight back against UKIP.

So to answer your question, I know that I was lied to by both sides. But I am very happy with the result.

Joysmum · 28/06/2016 08:48

I voted to leave for my own reasons, not for the Leave campaign who were a shower of shite!

As somebody who's spend over 7 years studying business studies, economics, economic history and accounting, I confident in my own research and make a decision. Smile

TheElementsSong · 28/06/2016 09:03

Facts are offensive things, aren't they Hmm. How inconvenient of them not to validate you.

This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy. Trillions of pounds have already been lost from the economy, jobs are going, people are being attacked. And yet there are posters who claim "nothing is happening" and "it's all made up".

When you are telling someone who's just lost their job or who has been racially abused that they made it up, or "ya boo sucks, you lost, we won!" while hiding behind the anonymity of MN, you really need to take a long hard look at yourself. Now that is being offensive. If you were so cast-iron sure that it's all made up, you ought to be trumpeting on national media with some examples - so go on then, show your homework to the class Hmm.

I expect that the denial will continue, to a farcical level, until the fallout really can't be ignored anymore. At which point, quite suddenly, it will be acknowledged that There Are Problems and then it will All Be Remain's Fault.

trixymalixy · 28/06/2016 09:25

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/eu_referendum_2016_/2672590-Just-a-memory-jogger-for-people There you go, just what I said. Someone who thinks it'll only be the bankers that suffer, with no understanding whatsoever.
