"Has Britain avoided a ‘European superstate’? France and Germany ‘draw up plans to morph EU countries into one with control over members’ armies and economies’"

"Plans for 'a closer European Union' have been branded an attempt to create a 'European superstate'.

Germany's foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault today presented a proposal for closer EU integration based on three key areas - internal and external security, the migrant crisis, and economic cooperation.

But the plans have been described as an 'ultimatum' in Poland, with claims it would mean countries transfer their armies, economic systems and border controls to the EU."

*Apparently Poland is very unhappy with this as they do not want German troops on their soil again and have threatened to negotiate with Russians (whom they were recently asking for protection from).

How about some comstructive ideas,

How to we motivate the apathetic to vote in future elections/referendums.

How do we ensure the media, whilst free to report should be made more answerable for false facts and scaremongering (both sides)

How do we move forward and meet in the middle as british people to institute the best possible deal?

Thefuturecouldbebright · 29/06/2016 14:33

Slippy fingers again.. Sorry

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 14:35

We're in a situation that I did not want and is not of my making. I have absolutely no idea what the best way forward is. You did want the situation and helped make it. It's up to you to tell me. I don't know.

smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 14:36

Oh come on, when the "EU SUPERSTATE" argument is wheeled out with links to the mail and express, I've been reasonable in the past and linked to the fact that its very differently reported elsewhere.

However I'm tired of this, it really just people wanting to believe that they are right and finding justification for it in whatever theory.

The same people shouted down anyone who argued against them with project fear prior to the vote so stuff it.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 29/06/2016 14:37

Hahaha... Should have seen that coming! 'I want to just complain, its all your fault, you arseholes sort it!'

How ridiculous!

No the future thats not it at all,

That was my approach to arguing the EU superstate point yet again.

I think you'll find most people want to make a success of things, but reserve the right to be angry.

I also reserve the right to ridicule your lazy thinking.

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 14:47

But I genuinely have no idea what the way forward is. How could I? You do, obviously. So tell me.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 29/06/2016 14:48

Well, I reserve the right to consider you hysterical.

Lighteningirll · 29/06/2016 14:54

And I withdraw my judgement on your usage on reflection it is justified

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 14:59

Not knowing what to do is "hysterical"?

Or were you applying that to not thinking there was a plot to set up a European Army and conscript all our children into it?

smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 14:59

Ha hysterical?

Have you followed the news today?

Tell me what good things have come out of this so far? Oh that's right you can't.

If I am hysterical are JP Morgan? Are Moody's? Are the BOE? Is every financial institution?

Oh dear, argument in tatters again, cause you lack any knowledge of what you seek to discuss.

Thefuturecouldbebright · 29/06/2016 15:00

I never said I did! But divisiveness and mudslinging helps nothing! But then I was ridiculed for saying that too!

Roonerspism · 29/06/2016 15:02

Actually, the markets are looking pretty good today.

The ratings agencies HAD to say something. They are all protecting their predictions of doom

Let's just keep a cool head here, OK?!

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 15:03

How can you avoid divisiveness if we are divided?

What practical measures do you suggest?

Thefuturecouldbebright · 29/06/2016 15:04

Look, I cant even have a meaningful conversation with you all, you are so hostile and comdescending. I am clearly wasting my time... (Slow clap), well done you educated superiors, you saw me off with logic and well reasoned points (sarcasm) , good luck continuing to bully those who dont subscribe to your way of thinking.
Please dont wallow in your misery for too long will you?!

Time to 'brexit' this thread.

smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 15:07

the markets are not looking good today, they are looking better than monday, there are still significant losses in value of firms. For example home builders Taylors went up by 15% today, but they had lost 35% of their value.

MoggyP · 29/06/2016 15:09

BBC article just up on their website

UK shares continue to recover ground

smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 15:11

But you've come here and offered no analysis at all just some optimisitc "pull together" WW2 type thing and you are offering it to people who believe quite rightly that they have been sold down the river by people voting on spurious reasons.

It deserves to be shredded.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 29/06/2016 15:12

"How can you avoid divisiveness if we are divided?"

Some suggestions:

  • do not slag off those with whom you disagree
  • realise that this has happened and must be dealt with, the time for weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth becomes very counterproductive if protracted
  • like Sadiq Khan, start thinking about what might be the best deal and how to secure it
smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 15:14

Yes they "recovered ground" but its weak recovery, and still well below where they were last week.

I said that they had regained value.

The pound has "recovered ground" but is still 10 cents below where it was last week, and is around 8 cents lower from where it has been on average for most of the year.

See, bit better, still not great, with lots of weakness and volatility predicted.

Also as said by all market analysts the optimism in the market is mainly due to the theory that the UK will retain full access to the single market as put forward by Boris and others yesterday. The breaking news today that the EU have said that this is not possible without the 4 freedoms makes this less likely. We may see another change tomorrow.

Kimononono · 29/06/2016 15:34

small the pound goes up and down all the time whilst we sleep! The markets are recovering and will continue - no one expected there to not be some issues. Stop with the doom and gloom !! Wine

Kimononono · 29/06/2016 15:35

This has just been issued, it's a picture of the new superstate police/army with its new president. Grin

So the people were right about EU Superstate Military....
smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 15:38

Oh well still better than Boris

Roonerspism · 29/06/2016 15:43

small make sure you never work for the Samaritons, OK?!

There will be lots of uncertainty ahead whilst we see how it pans out, this is true. Let's remain optimistic
