Should I be pissed teacher didn't wish DD a happy birthday?

I don't care about handing out sweets or having the children sing happy birthday to DD but what has really pissed me off is DD told teacher it's her birthday today and the teacher couldn't even wish her a happy birthday!

Wow. Op, you are, horrible. On this thread at least. This will be, entirely, why the teacher did what she did. Of course one shouldn't punish a child for their parent. But, they're human.

The teacher didn’t do anything! The OP has a kid so emotionally fragile that her teacher not wishing her a happy birthday caused her to cry, and the OP has so little resilience that she’s still winging about it on the internet days later.

You used the phrase broken home by the way.

And you said

They are children, some children come from broken homes where parents may not give a shit what day it is never mind their own child's birthday and if/when that child goes into the only place that gives them an escape from the shithole they live in it is unacceptable for a teacher to treat them like shit.

My home is not a shithole.

Nor do my children need nor have they ever needed an escape from my home.

Your views on single parents are disgusting.

I don't even know you, I never mentioned you and you've taken it personally lol

Like I said, you are not the definition of a broken home.

We've never met, do you think we meet up for drinks lol

Broken home is a disgusting way to talk about a single parent household.

arethereanyleftatall · 06/11/2022 15:07

Op. As you don't seem to know this. The phrase 'broken home' is used when parents split up. That's its definition.
I think you were actually trying to be nice then as it happens. I think you were trying to say some kids have shit home lives, so let's make sure they have a nice time at school. I think that's what you were going for.
But when you used the phrase 'broken home' it was incredibly judgemental, implying that children from split parents have shit lives. Which, of course, couldn't be further from the truth for so so many children.
The phrase 'broken home' is so so damaging, and as a society, we really shouldn't use it. It prevents so so many parents, leaving a shit miserable situation.

Thank you for pointing this out to me, I had no idea, I sincerely didn't know that it meant single parent families. Thank you for not attacking me and instead explaining my mistake to me.

Oh fuck this is embarrassing 😱

It's been deleted because it was such an offensive post. But what you said I have already quoted.

I won't do so again as it's been deleted.

But you implied that single parent households were broken homes and that such parents didn't give a shit about their kids and that their kids needed to escape the shitholes they lived in.

wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:22

I'm also not Looney. That is a massively offensive way to speak to anyone

BlueRidge · 06/11/2022 15:23

This whole thread is in danger of being deleted, I hope.
The OP is behaving disgracefully. This morning you blamed last night's unpleasantness as having been drunk.
What's today's excuse?

madnesss · 06/11/2022 15:24

OP are you trying to see how far you can get before your thread is deleted? I can't think of any other reason for the way you are speaking to people and the names you are calling them.

BlueRidge · 06/11/2022 15:24

@wibblewobbleboard I've reported that remark.

wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:24

www.dictionary.com/browse/broken-home

noun
a family in which one parent is absent, usually due to divorce or desertion:

muttleyandson · 06/11/2022 15:25

@wibblewobbleboard I am mortified. Why didn't you explain that to me. I had no idea and just didn't understand why you wouldn't let it go.

OP posts:
wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:26

How am I a "looney" for knowing what a phrase means? Seriously?

I objected to the use of from a broken home to describe children whose parents don't give a shit about them and who live in shitholes.

I love my kids to the ends of the earth and I have very deliberately beggared myself emotionally practically and monetarily to give them a better life than I had.

My home is NOT broken or a shithole

madnesss · 06/11/2022 15:27

OP you are mortified because you didn't know something but happy to use horrible offensive language towards people?

Sure enough.

wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:28

I did explain. In my post early this morning.

You've continued to be pure nasty to me.

Vicious. Horrible.

God help me but I'm in bits thinking people view me like this. Single parent but a shit living in a shithole and not giving a fuck about my kids.

wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:28

I'm not trolling. How am I trolling? I've explained and objected to your characterisation of single parents. How is that trolling?

BlueRidge · 06/11/2022 15:29

Nice, decent people don't think that way, @wibblewobbleboard
Sounds like you're doing just brilliantly.

You're not a Looney, I didn't know the term broken-home meant split up families. I apologise profusely.

Oh fuck off, you said ‘any wonder he left you’ or similar, even if you weren’t clear on the meaning you were still being a dickhead.

wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:31

I explained this morning.

Couldn't you have googled?

arethereanyleftatall · 06/11/2022 15:31

@wibblewobbleboard
Please don't get upset. You have made a marvellous brave decision. The op didn't know what it meant. She thought it just meant broken in any capacity. Nothing to do with single parenting. If you read back through her posts, you can see she didn't understand the phrase. Flowers

wibblewobbleboard · 06/11/2022 15:31

And yes. You said "any wonder he left you" and you called me a looney. Miss Looney it was.

I am so sorry, I honestly thought you was trolling. Please forgive my behaviour towards you. I had no idea, I'm sat here crying because of the hurt I have caused you.
