Should I be pissed teacher didn't wish DD a happy birthday?

I don't care about handing out sweets or having the children sing happy birthday to DD but what has really pissed me off is DD told teacher it's her birthday today and the teacher couldn't even wish her a happy birthday!

Yes you can’t just pick and choose which child you sing happy birthday too or which child gets to give sweets out. You either do it for all or you do not. This would definitely upset a child if they were treated differently to the class norm.

muttleyandson · 05/11/2022 22:55

DD cried on her birthday and asked why she was singled out. I'd rather a TA than some heartless cunt who can't wish a primary years child a happy birthday. We're not talking teenagers here we're talking about an 8 year old child.

It could be school policy not to wish a child happy birthday as it may not be a happy occasion for the child?

In the grand scheme of things OP, I wouldn't get your knickers in a twist over it! Teacher okayed giving the sweets out to her classmates

@BellaCiao1 no where did the op say it happened today in fact she mentioned things that happened after the birthday so it obviously happened a while ago.

what has really pissed me off is DD told teacher it's her birthday today

itsatavern · 05/11/2022 22:56

If she had the class sing happy birthday for the other 2 children but not yours, she must dislike your child. Is that better? Is that what you want to hear?

AriettyHomily · 05/11/2022 22:57

You're the cunt op.

DarkKarmaIlama · 05/11/2022 22:57

Gosh it’s all a bit cunty here tonight 😁.

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 05/11/2022 22:57

Poor kid with this as a mother!

The original post says that DD told the teacher it's her birthday today, that's why everyone thought it happened today. The drip feed of the next part which makes it clearer it didn't actually happen today came after everyone questioning why she was at school on a Saturday.

Jesus Christ OP, get a life. I'm embarrassed for you.

This happened during the week and it's still bothering me so like I said should I be pissed off about it as much as I am?

Yes, you shd be passed. I know I was. Different situation though as it wasn't child's school but a situation where there was a grown-up in charge of young children. Everyone's birthday before and after DC's bday was celebrated but not dc. It took me about 6 months to get over.

And yes, I KNOW it's not the Teachers' responsibility to organise bday singalongs but it should be the same across the board

Sorry my bad, I should have made it clearer like in my second post.

Wow you really are a vile creature. The teacher probably thinks you’re a cunt

AdInfinitum12 · 05/11/2022 23:00

The secondhand embarrassments I have for the OP and her behaviour on his thread is off the scale 😂

BellaCiao1 · 05/11/2022 23:01

@muttleyandson

Maybe you'll retract the c**t remark at me then considering all I did was quote your post.

TrippyLily · 05/11/2022 23:02

After reading the OP I thought you were being a bit silly but I actually think it's pretty cruel to let two children hand out sweets and sing happy birthday and not the third child.

DarkKarmaIlama · 05/11/2022 23:02

What in the universal credit is going on here?

Pixiedust1234 · 05/11/2022 23:04

If your child spoke to her teacher the way you are responding here then I'm not surprised the teacher backed away and did nothing. Did you not speak to the teacher to say it was her birthday and whether you had bought the right sweets?

muttleyandson · 05/11/2022 23:04

BellaCiao1 · 05/11/2022 22:54

I said that in no world would a child say it's their birthday and not have any response back in the remit of 'Happy Birthday/Have a lovely Day/Oh very good' etc. How did the teacher allegedly respond?

Also, although meant well, it is very, very annoying when children bring sweets or cake in to give out for their birthdays. The level of disruption it causes in class is not worth it. Plus (not saying your daughter did this but..) the birthday child usually spends the day asking when you're giving their sweets out. It's honestly a PITA

Literally nothing, just an 'okay'. Like I've said, I don't care if DD didn't get to hand out her sweets, I don't care about the singing or the sticker. It was the teacher's response to DD saying it was her birthday.
