Thought it would be nice to start a support thread on here about the wait for our DC getting into secondary schools. Anyone else glad the tests are all over?

Just popped in to say I feel for you all - we were in same position this time last year.

Its horrible waiting, congratulations to those who have the school of their choice, commiserations and chocolate to those that don't and good luck to everyone still waiting.

tiptoemum · 01/03/2011 12:35

That's great news DartsRus! Go celebrate! Wine

DartsRus · 01/03/2011 12:51

Cupandsaucer, thanks Smile I will when I get home from work!

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2011 12:52

Wow - lots of good news!

I'm in Surrey, tapping my toes with the Londoners til 5pm (I think it's the same admissions system).

Then it'll be on the phones to see which of his mates have got which schools.

I lay in bed last night fretting illogically that I'd filled the forms in wrong.

Minwedge - jeepers, the grammar system sounds horrendous! Here's me thinking you just pass an exam and away you go......

LadyWellian · 01/03/2011 12:53

I've been combatting the feelings of helplessness by using this to calculate our home-to-school distances and then comparing them with the distance of the last place offerd last year. On this basis I am frantically hoping for expecting an offer from our second choice, or if not then from our 6th, which we put last as an insurance as it is extremely close. (They haven't built it yet so it's a bit hard to gauge what it will be like.)

TalkinPeace2 · 01/03/2011 12:57

I logged into the LEA website this morning - where I filled in the application online.
The answer was there is black and white
DS does NOT have to go to the failing Academy
he gets to go to the excellent comp.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2011 12:58

Fantastic dartsrus. :)

CupAndSaucer · 01/03/2011 13:00

Just read the last few pages...congratulations to all of you who got the places you wanted. And sorry to those of you who didn't.

Nerves are really kicking in now...feel like I'm on the verge of tears the whole time. Only 4 hours to go. It can't come soon enough.

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2011 13:00

Brilliant news, TalkinPeace2! Where are you?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/03/2011 13:01

yay TalkiinPeace :)

me too cupandsaucer. I'm supposed to be writing some newsletter articles and I just can't concentrate at all.

Madsometimes · 01/03/2011 13:04

Will the pan-London e-admissions cope with everyone logging on at 5 pm? The mind boggles at how many children are covered by this system.

TalkinPeace2 · 01/03/2011 13:06

I'm Hampshire and the twin to the Academy is the school with the worst value added in the country!

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2011 13:16

No, Madsometimes, I don't imagine the system will cope!

CupAndSaucer · 01/03/2011 13:23

Hampshire! tell me more...that's where I am! Where did you log in?

I'm off to look up Hantsweb Shock
